Don't know what to say.

subject shoulda tipped you people off!.
couple of weeks back, i was busy winding up my evening at a gay nightclub near my home in johannesburg, when across the room i notice this drop-dead-gorgeous woman sitting there with her obviously gay friend.
so i stare at her a bit, get some eye-contact going, and i reckoned i was making some decent progress!
Don't know what to say.
It's just me, I guess.

How is asking someone's IQ insulting? Did I say "I think you are a big stupid head" or "that has to be the dumbest thing I've ever read anywhere"?
No, I merely asked what his IQ/SAT/ACT scores were.
I'm merely curious, that's all.

email, I'm not saying anything here, I'm just curious, what were you SAT scores? ACT? How about IQ, even?
I'm really serious here, legitimately curious....

just remember, if you are 55...you have experienced and know everything.... .

(EDIT: for those who don't get the 'joke', take a look at the last few pages of this thread, which I'm also amazed hasn't been locked)

does the president believe he has a divine mandate?

They are merely stating that Saddam must disarm. Saddam has two options to disarm, peacefully by choice though the force of worldwide opinion, or militantly by force.
Actually, as an aside, the 'not kill' comandment is hardly the best argument against violence. Assuming you believe that the whole bible is not bunk, then.....
What did jesus say? 'Put away your sword, for those who live by the sword shall die by the sword'? Did he not say to turn the other cheek?
Did his true followers not all go to their graves not lifting a hand against their oppressors? Certainly not defending themselves through violence. And, DEFINATELY not attacking someone else in case they MIGHT attack you first?
Does christianity not REQUIRE a martyr's death for its followers under persecution?
How can you claim to be CHRISTIAN and follow CHRIST and still believe violence is ever an acceptable means to an end? Jesus certainly commanded over and over that it is not ever acceptable under any circumstances.
So, one must conclude, if you support war or warfare, you are not really christian.
ok, there's this (supposedly married but sometimes that doesn't mean much)guy at work that the girls are sooo into, they just fall at his feet.
and yes, he is very good looking, one in a thousand maybe.
you should have seen the way they did up his work area for his birthday today.
DNA testing should be standard on all live births IMO
Why on EARTH would you want that, though? If the female had doubts that offspring from an illicit relationship would be cared for, they would not occur.
Evidence to date is that such pairing are fairly necessary for our genetic good. A large number of children from the same genetic pairing is a very bad thing for a local gene pool (unless, of course, the resulting offpsring all take off to different parts of the world - which usually is not the case).
Are there any men out there like that? Not the one I married!
Well, it's kinda OT, but....yeah....most of them. You apparently got a bad nut...toss it back and go fishing for another.
OH! Tip for free...if you want to save time in the search, look for agnostics. Although it's a stereotype (and they are wrong), it is true that an above-the-average number of christian men (especially fundies) hold that women are inferior (well, it does say so in the bible).
Atheists tend to have a similar problem - they may well be too egotistical. The problem with either group is that they feel they are right and have all the answers. This is not good for a equal-to-equal relationship.
That's certainly not true for all of either group - indeed, maybe even not most - but agnostics for the most part are already starting with the assumption that they don't have all the answers, which is a good place to be if you are looking for someone to treat you as an equal.
this is my new favorite tv show on bbc america.
i watch it every day having recorded it the night before.. how do you all you brits like the show/?.
joel
I've started seeing a few now, it's on after 'Coupling' here, which we watch religiously. (Now *THAT'S* a funny show)
'The Office' is....well....it's a lot like watching a train wreck, really. It's horrifying and you kinda feel the need to do something about it...but...then...you really can't, and just keep watching.
as many of us have said, the anti-war posters have their views, and the pro-war posters have theirs, and regardless of anyones opinion, a war with iraq is inevitable.
but, it looks like the war protesters may be able to make an actual difference now, if they so choose.....check it out: .

youve claimed all along that saddam isnt suicidal, and he is nothing short of 100% logical....yet when you are faced with obvious proof that he indeed was very illogical, and suicidal, with his decisions about kuwait
Actually, the Kuwait case is PROOF he isn't suicidal.
He wanted to gain more power in the region. Remember, we (the US) backed him in the 80s. He still wanted to make sure we wouldn't retaliate, so he got US APPROVAL TO INVADE KUWAIT. Granted, it was approval from a previous administration, but as far as he knew, he A) was a friend of the US and B) had US approval for the invasion.
And only THEN did he even invade a neighboring country.
This doesn't sound like a raving madman about to start lobbing nukes at every other country - ESPECIALLY the US. Power-hungry? Sure! But part of staying in power is not pissing off every other nation on the planet. That's a lesson at least one other country I can think of hasn't quite learned yet.

we dont seem to be launching any ICBMs past China to shake them up
Really? What do you think the early space race was all about? An ICBM isn't much more than an orbiter designed to come down over someone ELSE's country.
Or, is it a coincedence, you think, that the ATLAS ICBM was the rocket used to boost the Mercury capsules into orbit? The Mercury capsule, weighing as much as a nuclear warhead? That orbitted over the Soviet Union?

for the rest who don't know...you have my pity.
You know what's funny?
How these argument go.
Someone starts by posting a warning. You immediately attack him without even considering his argument.
He rebuts the attack with articles and documents. You insult the source of the documents without considering their content.
He provides MORE articles and documents are arguments to support his position. You call the person names - unpatriotic, whatever. They are thinking too much. Thinking is dangerous, or something.
They argue that thinking and at least QUESTIONING authority is essential to freedom. You start with the FART jokes.
I mean, c'mon, makes you wonder why people who are actually concerned about freedoms even try. Not even 1939 Germany had as much faith in Hitler's propaganda as you do the US gov't's.
