DUH!
And, although you can't tell, you may rest assured the sharp teeth that lion the girl is petting has have been magically 'restored' to their original molar-like grinding teeth. Mmmm-mmmm GRASS!
heard the expression "having a bet each way"?
you know how it goes, someone doesn't want to give offense or get "offside" with readers, colleagues etc so they try and agree with two conflicting arguments simultaneously.
the watchtower wouldn't do that, would it?

accidently kick someones shin, right? Or perhaps we won't try to get the ball away from the other team
*sigh*
You're OBVIOUSLY a worldling. Don't you know that perfect humans will not have a competitive spirit? If you're kicking the ball down the field, no one will try and take it from you! How competitive! It might even be construed as elevating themselves above you - thinking THEY are more worthy to have the ball!!
No, you can gently guide it right across the field. The other team will even help you if it goes out of bounds.
There really isn't a point in having a goal, since scoring is competitive. After all, one team cannot be allowed to think they are better than the other, can they? How haughty!
Once you get the ball to the other end, someone on the other team will take a turn and dribble it back to your side, where your teammates are waiting to take their turn.
How holy and wonderful an arrangement! The lack of a competitive spirit is true evidence of perfection! Praise Jah!
this is a sincere question.
do you worry about offending active witnesses?
Well, I'm chaotic neutral, so.....NO!
If I'm right, and they're wrong, and that bugs them...I LAUGH!!
HAHAHAHAHA @ -=you=-
(oops, slipping towards 'evil' now. *smack* - damn, too much neverwinter lately. Gotta tell ya, living a life of sin, debauchery, and D&D is just tiring...*whew* - off to go sacrifice some babies now...)
kent and his merry followers seem to have made privacy their latest crusade and unfortunately they have decided to act in a completely irresponsible manner imho.. the forum software uses cookies to remember a users login details and can also be useful for identifying duplicate accounts.
it is not used for anything sinister and cannot be used to identify someone - all it gives is an indication that a computer is being used by more than one username and has been invaluable in identifying trouble makers like mario kempes / yo yo mama / sexy teen / help others (asking for money) and many others.
i believe that this is a good thing to do as i do not believe it compromises anyones privacy and does help prevent everyone wasting their time responding to people who are just "yanking our chain".. apart from the accounts that you have seen and know there are many more that you may not be aware of.
The context is clearly one where two people share the same PC and don't want to share the same cookies
Then you will see a place called Web Sites - and here you can open the edit button to override cookies. If you add jehovahs-witness.com to the list, and say "Deny" - no cookies will ever be accepted from the site in question.
Doesn't seem like that context to me. Sounds like instructions on how to avoid detection.
That said, you don't HAVE to use cookies to identify someones IP address. Simon apparently does, but there are other ways. Simple packet logging would do the trick just as well, and if you are faking return IP addresses (aka 'spoofing')....well, you aren't getting any page content that way and there is NO legitimate reason to do that.
Alternatively, Simon could just throw some javascript up to collect the IP address of surfers (you don't even need to be a poster then - any time you visit the site your address would be logged).
In short, Kent was not instructing people in how to maintain anonymity - just how to defeat Simon's currently implemented fraud detection scheme.
just a quick question, and one that seems to take jehovahs witnesses back a little, an extremely good question to ask a pioneer.
"so, with all your hours of service, how many people have you actually brought into the jehovahs witness organisation?".
um.... genuinely, 100% of my old jw freinds have all been raised in the organisation.
Brought in? ZERO!
Brought out? *sigh* zero *sigh*
Course, that's from, like, 22 years in and only 1 year out.
I plan on my family getting out, though. Their whole 'cutting off association' thing really makes it rough, though. I guess I have had a few opportunities to get some punches in I missed, but I just KNOW they would totally cut off contact, and I'm not sure I'm really ready for that.
As to none brought in? Oh, I was an uber-JW, alright. Honestly believed I had the 'Truth of God' (tm). Unfortunately, we seemed to have fairly educated worldlings where I come from. Never could defeat their evolution arguments, their patriotism arguments, their reasons for celebrating birthdays, etc. (It turns out the fact that they were RIGHT might have something to do with it....)
Made it VERY hard to convert anyone - I did have quite a few regular magazine stops - but I think the householders were just taking the mags out of pity.

Handling the ball in soccer is cheating
I hope you're being sarcastic? There is no 'cheating' if you are not playing the sport competitively.
C'mon, you've played sports with witnesses, right? Not allowed to keep score? Anything goes - the only reason to play is to 'have fun', right? Can't let yourself feel elevated above your brothers?
It's amazing how much like the Pharisees the WT is. I mean, at the end of the day, you've spent FAR more energy trying to live up to their standards - 'not stumbling anyone' - than actually doing your day to day activities.
Unless, of course, you are happy just turning your brain to the 'off' position and mindlessly walking through your life like a zombie.
i have two slots for ddr ram.
i've got one stick of 256 megs but want to get some more.
i didn't pay attention the first time i bought my stick of ram so i don't know the specs of it other than the capacity.
I'd recommend Corsair, myself. Same quality, but less expensive than Crucial.
Whatever you do - STAY AWAY FROM OCZ. (Otherwise known as 'Overclockerz' or 'OCZStore'). It's cheapest, but the quality suX0r5

Liz's answer = uber short version, but correct.
PC1600 = 100 MHz FSB
PC2100 = 133 MHz FSB (out of spec for old Athlon processors - they only went up to 1.4 GHz. Standard speed for newer Athlons, AthlonXPs, Durons)
PC2400 = 150 MHz FSB (out of spec for all Athlon/MP/XP processors- this is what I have mine overclocked to)
PC3000 = 366 MHz FSB (WAY out of spec - unless you have a brand, spankin new KT333 motherboard)
PC3200 = 200 MHz FSB (way, WAY out of spec - unless you have a DDR Pentium4 mobo - at least, I THINK they can use this - don't usually follow the Intel scene)
In case you are wondering the value after the 'PC' is (IE. 2100, 2400, etc.) - that refers to the potential amount of data per second that can be moved across the memory bus. IRL, it's always lower.
has anyone seen the new bank of america commercial for home mortgages?
it has a woman writing a letter to her husband about how she misses him.
at the end of the letter she says: i love you with every fiber of my being.
meant to be humourous, perhaps poking fun at a stereotype (or even just acknowledgeing a social reality, ideal or not)
Being familiar with the commercials in question, I'd opt for the 'acknowledging a social reality'.
Yes, women have a major voice in our culture. Yes, there are even a LOT of successful single moms, etc.
But, quick show of hands....how many here are married and the husband does NOT do most of the financial work?
As to the 'guys car commercials' - sorry, Raven, but I think you overreact.
A real man values his car far above his children
I don't even see where you could get the message. Does 'valuing your children' mean sticking their stickers and awards all over the place? (*TACKY*) Does 'valuing your children' mean giving them attention completely and exclusively and if the opportunity arrises to wife off your car with their cloth diaper you shouldn't do it because it somehow demeans your love for them???
Even if this WAS the message the commercial was putting out (it wasn't - they were just trying to sell cars to family guys) there is hardly anything that shows value 'FAR above his children'.
i know of a presiding overseer who has recently got rid of the modem and internet connections on his pc.
the reason given was that he didnt use it enough to make the monthly expense worthwhile.. but i wonder?.
have there been any local needs items or talks recently about whether it is wise to use the internet?.
DM: (crikey DM!) did you learn that, from the Internet?
Oh, that is SO true - I've heard that from my wife even (ex-JW). Start talking about some anti-JW thing and she gets "Oh, I dunno if that's true, did you read that on the internet or something?"
Which is funny, because she spends, like 100% of her time on her computer on the net.
IW: By the power of GreySkull I call forth my Aposto-powers--woogey woogey woogey
Okay, if Simon ever gets the sigs working again, that is SO IN IT.
