  NGO ? Please help!

  i've only just joined but i would be grateful if you could give me some information on this ngo business.. i live in england, am completly ignorant and no nothing about the un (everything i learnt in school went in one ear and out the other as did much else i learnt!).

  i would be grateful if someone could explain what ngo is exactly and how jw's were involved with it.. much appreciated.

  The Cleveland Public Library seems the easiest depository library for me to get at.

  I hadn't thought about inquiring of local NGOs. I somehow doubt the local K.H. would have a copy , so I'd have to see if we have any others in the area.

  I spent a lot of time photocopying, scanning and then sending these documents to these people just for this purpose.

  Don't think we don't appreciate the work - it's great stuff.

  Problem is, my plans are to show it to my JW family. Anything photocopied or printed off the net, etc will be dismissed offhand as 'apostate lies' and accused of being doctored, etc.

  YES!

  This IS what I'm looking for!

  It was suggested it did not exist in print.

  So, what exactly in the name of the publication? (We have a UN depository in an almost local city library)

  Do they generally let you check them out for any amount of time? Or, is this a photocopy-in-the-library-only kind of thing?

  Witnesses I have never know of one child being abused in 25 years.

  Which is just said even if you take this part of the comment alone.

  I've been in the org. Child abuse is RAMPANT. But, no one 'knows of one child being abused' because they pretend it isn't happening.

  'Oh, that Brother Pedofreak! Always up to some zany antics with the kids - don't mind him, he's just being affectionate!'

  And, of couse, we all know EXACTLY what happens if someone starts to suspect he is anything more than 'just being affectionate'.

  Not sure who disgusts me more - the sh*theads who do that to children or the dipf*cks that pretend nothing is happening.

  A few are actually expressing measured belief that there is a problem.

  Yeah, but in general, it seems (at least from over here) that the UK has less of a problem overall with rabid fundamentalism and the type of blind loyalty that makes cults so easy to grow.

  And, by extension, those who DO still join them have a measure of more common sense than USians.

  At least, it seems that way.

  how can all of you say that you are disgusted etc when you dont know any thing about the organisation?.

  im sure you didnt really worry before but now you are all acting upset etc.. i stress to say that it is accusations not fact.. i am 16 and found the program annoying in the fact that we were portrayed completely wrong.. the bbc could say what they liked.. i think that people should be more sincere and less assuming.. thanks, mark

  Like he said, ONLY quotes from the WTBTS' own literature. NOT TAKEN OUT OF CONTEXT - entire blocks of each article are presented to read in context.

  If you still have doubts - BY ALL MEANS LOOK THEM UP IN THE LIBRARY OR CD!!! Your hall should have one! (Just don't spend TOO much time there - the elders seem to frown on you looking through older watchtower publications, too. Damned if I know why, after all, it was the 'truth of god' at one point, right?...)

  i've done a quick version to watch in windows media player format .... http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/forum/media.asp.

  select the bbc programme from the drop-down list (it's in two parts).. the first programme starts at about 2 minutes (you get to see our weather report first) and has a good intro by the newsreader.. let me know if you have any problems ... i'll probably put a better quality version up when i have more time.

  Why not just a private FTP site?

  With Kazaa or eDonkey, or whatever, there is still the matter of the network indexing your computer and us then finding it. A private FTP site (address given only by emailed request) would seem to be the better way to go.

  In any case, I'd really like to get it. We just got a T1 in at work, and I think this might be an excellant use of it (small company, and I'm pretty much doing the network admin role, so no worries there....)
