i have made a couple of remarks regarding family dynamics on other threads, but i thought it's be nice to start a new thread.... i'm no psychologist, but suffice it to say i see some similarities here.

You're some kiddy Lisa. Parents are good or bad because they're good or bad, not because they're JWs. People need to own up to their own responsibilities and quit blaming everything on the organization.

i was in england on business last week and took the opportunity to visit my jw parents for an afternoon before returning to the london area for a flight today (saturday).
i had a pleasant time with them but i carefully avoided certain topics.
i almost couldn't resist saying something at some points but i let it pass.
Graduations are a big deal around here. I can't think of one that wasn't associated with a party, some of them fairly swank. All the families that I know of attend the graduation ceremonies and there are usually some others attending as well. Some do the prom thing, probably about 40%.

jehovahs witnesses, resigned pastor draw battle line over child molestation coverup charges.
last month, bill bowen not only resigned as presiding overseer of jehovahs witnesses at draffenville.
bowen charged his denomination with a national policy of elders not reporting confessions made by child molesters to police.
Well Waiting I guess if I have to spell it out for you I can. Seems clear enough to me.
1. Child makes accusation of sexual abuse by parent.
2. Elders report allegations to authorities, all actions held in abeyance until determination by civil authorities.
3. Civil authorities conduct full investigaiton and determine child is lying.
4. Child admits made the whole thing up because hacked off at parent.
Question? How to deal with lying child?

I really hate it when people get baptized at a young age. I've tried to discourage several but it's usually the parents that are pushing it and they just don't see that there's any reason to wait. I know of quite a few Elders that have tried to put the brakes on when someone at a young age wants to go through the questions but usually they don't have much success stopping it. I even heard a Bethelite at an assembly get a sort of bemused tone in his voice when he mentioned the 11 year old that had been baptized that day, then he said "Well, I guess if he can answer all the questions then he can get baptized." That was from the platform! I think a lot of Witnesses are uncomfortable with young ones making this kind of commitment.
some of you by choice or by compelling reason will attend the book study to consider the creator book.
during the study you might want to ask a few questions.
here are some things to ponder and maybe you can formulate some questions to ask your conductor.. this book is dreadful in its use of quotations.
The fact that things were being adjusted by a factor of ten was raised in our book study, with examples just to make sure everyone understood what was going on. To be honest about 80% of the people's eyes were glazing over at that point any way. That kind of stuff is not very interesting to many people.

This is such a tough subject. I have personal knowledge of one case that was reported to the civil authorities who later determined that the child had flat out lied about the parent. There were a couple of different drivers but in the end the child, a teenager, admitted the whole thing.
Let me ask you, how do you deal with the kid then?

Grunt I've always been fairly successful in the Organization with defining myself on my own terms. Things are not nearly as simplistic as you portray them.
