was reading some early 1990 wt articles relating to the un, and was amused at the expression 'soon' god will and do this and do that etc.
it made me wonder just what does this expression mean to the average jw.
how relative is this word 'soon' and 'shortly'.

ambiguous: 1. having several possible meanings. 2. obscure or indistinct.
Anybody else have any other ambiguous terms the WTBTS likes to use?

i was given the "privilege" to open the kh early to switch on the heating.
they even gave me my own set of keys.. every saturday night, me and another jw would drive to the kh with our amps and guitars and .
jam until the early morning, using the stage and the kh's pa system.
When I was a teenager, one night after the memorial, some friends and I, including an elder's son partook of our own emblems in the lane behind the KH.
.... those meetings are soooooooo boring.
and don't get me started on the 3 days of hell i just spent at the district convention.
(actually, if there isn't really a "hell", then it was 3 days of "non-existence") ok, ok, i get it.... as a witness, i should "give god glory", and make sure everything i do is being done in the glory of god.... but i don't need 3 days to get that point across.

of late, we have seen several threads started here and elsewhere that question the responsibility of ex's towards wavering jw's.
much of the material in these threads has been to do with whether our words or behaviour on these sites should be moderated so as not to "stumble" wavering witnesses.
some folk are of the opinion that we have no responsibilty whatsoever to waverers, others say we have a degree of responsibilty, yet others opine that we have a very great degree of responsibility.
I don't know about the 80%. I do agree, with the thought, that there would be some originating impetus, to move people go the internet, to do further research. (Sidenote....it was copies of articles from AlanF given to me by my dad, that got me to thinking)
As for the degree of responsibility. Haven't we left an organization, that has done nothing but whitewash, and sugar coat their message through their whole existance?
I agree with Mrs. Shatika, that, we should be patient with "Newbies", when they first begin to post here. But to tone down our threads and replies, because we may be concerned with what "Lurkers" may think, would be a mistake.
I think a punch in the nose, gets more attention than a tap on the shoulder !
And that is why this site and others like it are smelling salts to the unconscious.
first of all, let me say that many, if not most, of my memories of abuse and early childhood were recovered.
some people feel that this diminishes my experience, or in some way denies what happened.
i suffered from major depression and was quite suicidal for 2 years before something happened to trigger my memories.

Threads like these are always tough reads. I do not know where people like yourself find the courage to share this with us, but I hope there is some threapy and healing in it, to do so.
The human mind is a fascinating thing. How memories, both good and bad can be filed away, yet instantly triggered by a phrase, a picture, a voice, even a smell.
I thank you for sharing this with us. It helps us to be more aware of the dangers, that our own children face.
The other day my 11 year old son, and I were talking about the case of Holly Jones in Toronto. He couldn't understand how that could happen.

my wife has been baptized for a little less than that time period.. been an aux poi., reg pio, ms. wife is a reg pio currently.
now im just a lowly publisher :d. have had many doubts over the years on small matters.
