Isn't it curious punkofnice that the lastest "understanding" of the generation is that that second group is basically the Governing Body members themselves. Hey look this applies to .... ME! Completely infantile.

LONGEVITY IS A HALLMARK OF STUPID RELIGIONS
by steve2 inwe credit religious believers with far too much interest in and/or ability to engage in reasoning.
we overlook two hugely compelling factors that drive and revive "faith": emotional need for religious meaning, including to be consoled over awful events, and being born into the religion.
raised from day one to recite stupidity, it is then hard to assess stupidity for what it is.. that is why there is no shortage of stupid religions who turn date-speculation into a near-art form.

Has Anyone Heard Whether The New JW Bible Is Liked As Much As The Old One?
by minimus inmy mom told me that she, my brother and his wife really didn't like this new bible.. when i asked her why, she said they dropped the headings on the top of the pages and that just wasn't as good.. have you heard any pros and cons about the new good book?.

Past couple years of being awake might be catching up with me
by noonehome ini was a little too honest with a super close friend who is one of the most important people in my life.
my mistake.
she talked to an elder about my doubts...i know she had my best interests in mind and i hold nothing against her.

Imagine being in your situation and also married to a true believer at the same time that you dearly love. If you can imagine that, you will be able to empathize with me and my situation.
I have always been able to make very good friends very easily, not sure why, just a knack that I have. And, I bond closely with people and they bond closely to me. This gift becomes the double-edged sword if and when you "wake-up". Why? Because I have MANY good JW friends that I dearly love.
The only thing that is helping me keep my sanity is that I'm also being hit by the "disfellowshipping in reverse" affect. I've posted about this phenomenon on JWR some time back. Now that I've embraced reality, sitting around with my buddies as they yammer on about the "wonderful" bOrg and bOrg situations, my desire to be around them has cooled. Most social occasions with my JW friends now make me want to put my head through a wall.
"That was a wonderul talk this morning."
"How was field service this morning?"
"My daughter had her first part on the school this week!"
yada yada yada KILL ME NOW!
I love my family, and I love my friends, truly and deeply. But these days and on most occasions I can't stand being around them.
This is not a happy nor a joyous reality. But, I woud compare it to chemo-therapy. It's not something I want, but it is helping.

THE GRAND APOSTATE "WALKOUT" - January 1, 2015
by RagingBull inafter knowing ttatt for many years now...i had made up my mind long ago that after 2014, i would no-longer subject myself to the boredom, pain, and frustration of following this cult...the wt...the borg.. so...i made up my mind that since the wtbts/gb makes such a big deal as to the "significance" of the year 1914 and this year 2014, there can be no greater time for me to leave it all behind.
i daydreamed of how awesome and telling it would be if everyone that could ( because i do know that some have personal circumstances of their own, as i did too) would just .... walkout...never to attend/step foot in a kingdom hall from that moment on.. independence day of sorts?
there is too much evidence, too many videos, blogs, books, news reports and lawsuits for me to keep lying to myself.

I will have another talk with my wife in August, a serious one. If that doesn't do the trick, 1.1.15 sounds like a great idea. This charade I play is getting long in the tooth.

Has a critical mass of exJWs been reached?
by truthseeker init took the better part of 15 years but i believe we have finally arrived at that point where there is now a critical mass of former witnesses.. thousands of exjws come together on forums like this one and discuss findings, ideas and research.
there have been documentaries and even a movie made about life in the jehovah's witnesses.. ex jw websites, online forums, and discussion boards that set the wheels in motion in the early to late 90s have matured into powerful tools of social change within the organization.. the lies and false doctines taught by the watchtower bible & tract society are plainly accessible with just a cursory google search.. active elders leak boe letters, often weeks before they hit the notice board in a kingdom hall.. social media has allowed exjws to connect with those still in as well as those who have left.. the society have no game plan because information is power and they have lost the information war.
all they can do is cry wolf and warn the rank and file not to listen to apostates.. i don't know what future the society will face in the next ten years, but changing world events, social trends, and reactionary change from headquarters based on their own faulty biblical chronology has got them cornered like a raging animal.. it doesn't look good..

The rise of atheism due to the internet will hurt all religious growth with time. That's what is happening now.
Good luck Witnessing to millenials JWs, you're gonna need it.

Placards:
Effective placards would make a characature of JW dogma:
"Don't talk to your df'd children!"
"Father's day is evil!"
"Don't go to university!!!"
"1 generation + 1 generation = 1 generation!"
I would love to where placards like these.

Moustaches vs. beards - one of the contributing factors to losing my cognitive dissonace
by Pacopoolio inas a little background - i was born-in to being a witness, back in '79, in detroit, in mostly black and poor congregations.
baptized when 10-ish, stayed around, was on the fast track to ms, but faded when i moved out at 24ish.. there was a combination of a few things that got me on the road to "freedom" from the cognitive dissonance that kept me "in the truth" for so long.
the main thing was, being an artist and studying marketing, my thinking was patterned to constantly question if i was doing something "correctly," as constant improvement and questioning is what facilitates artistic and mental growth.

I looked on their website, it looks EXACTLY like MLM to me. I've copied and pasted the following:
Make Money By Helping Others
As a SYNCIS Associate, you can earn extra income while helping others by:
- Hosting meetings with friends, family and other people in your community.
- Identifying product solutions that can help your clients achieve their financial goals*.
- Building and running a team of financial professionals*.
If they are talking about you selling to your friends and family on their website, yep, it's good ol' mlm.
