The Gnostics were a heresy that grew up along side orthodox christianity. These heretics were defeat long before the Church had any type of secular authority. As to the Cathars, etc, these were killed as much for their political opposition as religious. (Not that I condone either).

I think Sharon is kicking himself for NOT snatching Arafat and tossing him into exile right now. Fod, apparently appeasement didn't work either. Before September of 2000 the Israelis were playing nice. Arafat was getting EXACTLY what he wanted and choose Terror and "Intifada" as his weapon to acheive his goals IN SPITE OF the Israelis playing nice. I was there when it happened. UNPROVOKED violence on the part of the Palistinians launched the new violence (and REALLY screwed up my visit to the middle east). Cooperation with the PA? They're the ones funding some of the Terrorist groups.

What's the one thing you miss about the WTS?
by Naeblis inthere are times when ilook back fondly on my days in the witnesses, especially when i think on the congregation get togethers we would have every once in awhile (not too often) people from our hall and sometimes others would show up (not too many) and good times were had by all.
this is how the schedule usually went.. 8pm: arrive at the community centre.
8:05pm: scope the room.

by AlanF ini just spoke on the phone to amazing (jim whitney) who is in intensive care in a chicago hospital.
on monday he had a major heart attack, had a stint put in an artery to unblock things and may have bypass surgery.
he's comfortable enough right now, but of course will have to make some big lifestyle changes.

Why is it unlikely, if my first premise is correct, it's a gloss as the actual location of death was unimportant and the author wanted to tie the death to the battle itself.
Basically, what you said about the second premise I presented is exactly what I'm saying. The history is unclear, two different authors with two different stories.
Lastly, why does it matter, (unless you're an EVERY SINGLE WORD of the Bible is True, kinda person).
I was conducting a bible study once (yep Catholics actually study the bible. It was an ecumenical study. I presented the contradiction of Jesus in Mark about who the High Priest was, Abiathar (according to Jesus, or Ahimelech) according to 1 Samuel. The Baptist minister's face was priceless when I brought up the contradiction. You also haven't brought up the WHO KILLED GOLIATH controversy yet.
