  JUSTICE #14 - Caring for the Needy - Not!

  caring for the needy not!

  when i first became a jw in the late 1960s and all the years thereafter, the watch tower society would frequently boast about the loving care and concern that jws show among themselves, providing for the needy during disasters, even helping the world.

  the society would publish in the magazines, or comments at conventions about how the world observed our efficiency and overwhelming spirit of giving.. what about the rest of the year?

  Bringing this back to the top. My biggest pet peeve with the BORG (other than doctrinal issues) is their claim to be a charitable organization, but having no charities. No hospitals, no soup kitchens, no food pantries, NOTHING. I see them saying, "Good luck, stay warm and well fed" but doing nothing to see to the needs of the poor. "In this is true worship, the care of widows and orphans" not just of JW Widows and Orphans, but WIDOWS and ORPHANS.

  No profit in giving money away.

  Alleged Prophecies Fulfilled by Jesus

  most exjws are familiar with the claims that the gospel accounts about jesus "fulfills" around 300 prophecies in the old testament.

  this claim is taken verbatim from christian fundamentalists.

  checking out these so-called prophecies will reveal that they do not stand up to scrutiny.

  Not only do those who claim the bible to be divinely inspired have a burden of proof, so do those who do NOT believe it to be so. You've stated OPINIONS, most of which I disagree with, but no facts. You have my respect, but my unbelief as well.

  Should I Do It ??? I Think I Will.

  i have been working on my letter to our local congregation to dis-associate myself.. since my wife is still very active in the non-truth and she also insist that i write this letter, i believe i will take her congregation address and telephone list and send my letter with all the facts about the wbts history of lies and send everyone in the congregation my letter via certified mail.

  it would probally set me back a few hundred bucks but i think it would be well worth it, what do you think??

  IF you write the letter, do it for YOURSELF, not your wife. I personally am against DA letters because it does INDEED mean you are playing by their rules. If you DO send it out to the congregation, make it short and concise with things they can EASILY look up themselves, ya might stir a heart or two. Most likely you'll be written off as an apostate, worse yet, they may form a committee and DF you for apostacy.
  For your wife, quote her the bit from the WTBTS web page about not shunning those who no longer are part of the BORG, and tell her that as you don't see them as the "TRUTH" you aren't bound by their rules.

  okay...i have a 19 year old brother that was born and raised jw.

  he's currently a regular pioneer that is 'hanging out' with a sister that has a worldly reputation.

  he hasn't gotten into trouble about it yet, but i anticipate it happening soon.

  Pray for him, tell him to GO OUT AND GET A JOB OR GO TO COLLEGE. Sheesh, Jesus was in his 30's and had supported both himself and his momma for at least a few years before he started his ministry. Chances are he also worked to support himself between preaching trips too, as Paul did. A preacher who hasn't had to deal with the real world problems of the work-a-day world have NOTHING to offer me.

  Biblical, Christian "Morals"

  many people seem to think that moral end ethics would be unknown if it werent for the bible.

  the moral of the bible when examined thoroughly is to say the least, extremely relative.

  looking at the hebrew scriptures it becomes clear that moral and law was pretty much a tribal and ethnic phenomenon.

  Funny story about VeniceIT

  by popular demand, i am yielding to pressure, to tell a story about our very own veniceit.. in march, venice and her parents were visiting us here in washington state, and we all had dinner at our daughter's home one evening.

  (my daughter posts here as princess) princess's son, 4 years old, was quite taken with venice and was showing her around the house.
