Christmas Star = Satan?!

i was talking with my husband the other day about the jw's belief that the "christmas star" that guided the magi to christ was the doings of satan.

he didn't believe me; this is what i found in the "my book of bible stories" (copied verbatim from cd-rom).

who do you think made that new star to shine?

Coming from you this is a supreme compliment. In all of you last two posts you started from the premise that the star was of Satan and then with circular logic set about to prove your point. just out of interest, lets swap details of how we selected our chosen "stage name", it could be fun!.

i chose "englishman" when i first started to lurk at h20.

I love things Judaic, and Jerusalem is my spiritual home, and though I misspelled it, this would be one phonetic spelling of Jerusalem. Stange thing the word phonetics, phonically it would be spelled with an "f" not the "ph" hook on "pahonics worked for me!"

My real name is Michael by the way. Micha El in Hebrew "WHO IS LIKE GOD?" It's a question and a challenge not a statment of my character. Michael the Archangel (who isn't, by the way, the same as Jesus, Challenged Satan "WHO IS LIKE GOD?" When he cast him out of heaven.

Gain???

i've asked a few people this, but what do the jw have to gain by luring people into their religion?

do they take your money or posessions?

i just don't understand why people would want to do that.

The Rank and File Dub is generally sincere even if sincerely mislead. The intentions vary from trying to actually spread to others what they think the truth is to some who seek recognition for the many "sheep" they bring into the fold. As a whole the Society is a bureocracy that is self perpetuating. It adds members to sustain itself. More people = more money.

it has been said that the mormon church is worth upwards of $30 billion.

how does this compare to the jws?.

isn't extraordinary how both of these fakes keep on taking and taking (_your_money, for jw lurkers & trolls) but don't appear to put it back into society?.

You are indeed a rare cat and you're absolutely PRICELESS, or is it WORTHLESS? Hmmmmmm.

Last figures I saw was that New York's Budget was a cool 700+ MILLION a year. Now that's thier budget, Net worth WELL into the billions. Realestate in NY doesn't come cheap. Nor do printing presses and perfect binders. Heck, Probably close to a billion or more just with the printing facility alone. If someone tells me how many presses and binders they have, I can have my dad run an off the cuff analyzes on what it would fetch on the open market.

Calling all Nazi war victims

you're so innocent it's refreshing, that's exactly how they indoctrinate, it goes on in all their meetings. "We are the BORG, you will be assimilated, resistence is futile."

I almost imagine the Society is trying to find a way to get it's hands on the money that the Germans are now beginning to pay to those who were forced into slave labor in the camps.

A good friend of mine was an American Pilot shot down, and put in a Concentration Camp rather than a POW camp, he's due some money. My first guess is that the BORG will try to convince any who qualify (there where what, some 4000 Witnesses imprisoned, how many of them could still be alive, plus you add others who converted later too I guess) Or maybe they're just trying to help, who knows. But how often does the BORG do anything it doesn't stand to make money or good PR on?
