One hall I attended had cordless mikes and it must have been during a service meeting talk that had followed a Q & A session that the older brother carrying the mike( he must have slipped it into his pocket and forgotten) went to use the restroom. He must have been in flatulent agony because after a short burst of liquid, we in the audience kept hearing ooohhhhh and ahhhhhhh between every alternating burst of symphonic farting. Brothers quickly scrambled to kill the mike output at the sound console.

FARTING at the meetings
by gambler ini'm sure you all have some good comical stories of pple farting during prayer or other quiet times during meeting.
as a personal experience of mine, the night before i had eaten a frozen pizza, doritos, and some old chocolate milk.
this combination produced the worst smelling brew i have ever had.

Hi Serena,
I just went back and read another thread you started a month or so ago and I really think you should do the same. It seems like nothing has changed since that time except that you've fallen in even deeper into the quagmire. You have some serious self examination to do. This site is composed primarily of people who have or have had serious issues with the JW faith. Read our experiences and really decide if this is is what you want to become entangled in. In fact, you are not even in the faith and you are experiencing problems connected with it. And I assure you, this is only the beginning. Heartbreak is certain. You see all of the signs and yet still don't believe that fat meat is greasy. Imagine all of the problems that even committed, lovey dovey couples face and place you two in their positions. Is this the type of guy you want beside you as you encounter life's difficulties? By your own admission, he is using you. This guy enjoys you in the eve and bemoans your existence in the morning. If he says he has a responsibility to the bros and sis, hold him to it. Help him keep his resolve. If he really feels as if what you two are doing is wrong, then he really might begin to see you as the enemy to his desire to serve God. Hold out for more; there is more available; you really can do so much better. I myself would never want to drag a guy kicking and screaming to the altar or anywhere else for that matter. There is someone out there who will be happy to be seen with you in daylight and would be proud to have you on his arm for all to see.

DA or not DA or continue slipping away ?
by alliwannadoislive infor weeks now, i've been trying to put together a disassociation letter - incidently, it's you lot that have put me up to this - and it's nearing completion but i'm feeling nervous about sending it.
the fast approaching christmas celebration thingymajig is kinda egging me on as i want to blaze christmas lights everywhere and not feel nervous about the possibility of a visit from the po who drops the mags in to me fortnightly (i'm generally 'not in' ... ahem ...).
i would appreciate your for's and against's - to either convince me to go ahead, or to think again and stay the execution ...

I think I read either in "Crisis of Conscience" or "Apocalypse Delayed" that the society changed the wording in the early '80's because some were leaving and claiming that made a vow of loyalty to Jehovah and Jesus, not to an organization. I vaguely remember standing and sleepily answering "Yes" to something about recognizing that Jehovah was using an earthly organization or something to that effect. I believe it is the second question you are asked at the baptismal talk.

I'm glad I listen!
by LDH inwell a little shock here kids.. on monday, i was talking to my daughter about her (unusual) poor performance in school, in one particular class.
(straight a kid) now i know she doesn't like this teacher's style, so i try to encourage her to learn to deal with it--i mean, we don't all like each other's style but we live in the same world.
blah blah blah.. anyhow, she told me she was 'having problems focusing.

This really has morphed into quite an interesting thread and I have enjoyed all of the posts thus far. I don't know any of you but I really wonder just how much class, race or some other variable plays into your view on this subject. I am probably going out on a limb here, but it seems to me that your view of how long childhood is or how it should be may be based on these factors too. For instance, if you are one of a minority group or low-income class, would you tend to see childhood as one of idealism or the harsh reality of not having enough to eat, of not being able to see your parents in their struggle to eke out a living and of witnessing violence first-hand.
I don't have any children yet, but I cannot imagine shielding them from the reality of our worldly neighborhood. I just know that wherever intolerance and hatred abide, I would want them to be able to recognize them for what they really are, and to know how far these things can go. There are still adults who cannot handle the reality of the holocaust and other atrocities. To me, childhood is a precursor to adulthood, and I want to start them on the right path. I also plan to be along for the bumpy ride providing support and guidance. -

In all honesty, it's easy to see how one can make these mistakes with the English language being so inconsistent. Let's face it, with all of the borrowing that English did, spelling in English is mostly a memory game. And if your memory fails you, as mine often does...uh, what was I saying? Oh yeah, if the memory goes, so will your spelling. Why are the words dose and lose spelled the same but not pronounced the same way? And why can't you use 'losor' when it is perfectly acceptable to use either advisor or adviser?

Ignorant Elder Comments
by El Kabong ini don't know if this was discussed here before, but, what is the most ignorant comment you ever heard an elder say.
i once had an elder say to me that my brother, who was at the time fighting in vietnam will be destroyed and killed over in 'nam because he did not accept "jehovah"!!!!
i promptly told him to go "f" himself.

During a judicial committee I remarked to the elders present that I would call the police the next time my husband abused me. A young indignant elder promptly told me that things were not handled that way in Jehovah's organization. "Jehovah's organization is a THEOCRACY, not a democracy", he yelled.
Another elder told me during another jc that a brother could not rape his wife, and quoted ephesians in support.
