COMF - that was great reading - do you have a follow-up story? How have things been on the dating scene since then? I too have wondered if I should seek out x-jw's. I am currently dating a non-practicing shrink I met at work. He's a great guy but I often find myself telling him, 'You just don't understand.'

Ex-Witness singles?
by Ephanyminitas inyou know, i'm somewhat shocked that there's no kind of singles area of the site.
how great would it be (for me, at least) to find a great ex-witness lady?
i guess no one is too worried about it though.

I couldn't really decide until the last moment, and here I am. It was kind of hard as this is my first year out. Last year I went at the last moment in jeans and tennies but this time I just couldn't quite get up enough desire to get dressed. Instead, I bought some wine and matzo and thought I'd have my own private celebration. Now I'm wondering what fib to tell everyone who asks if I made it. My phone and cell have been ringing off the hook.
Somehow my going to the memorial is their last lifeline to the idea that I'm not completely lost.

questions about obtaining Higher Education for JWs
by AjaxMan ini have read a couple of threads the last couple of days that dealt with what you have to give up when becoming a jw.. most posts that i read said they have to give up getting a higher education.
my question is this: is that still a trend today?
that elders frown or discourage young jws from going to college or university by telling them to put kingdom's interest first?

Hi Amazing,
I look forward to reading personal experiences such as yours and also any of the others that detail the often slow and painful process of adjusting to life after the watchtower. I feel I am adjusting pretty well but still have very few 'worldly' friends and haven't yet had any apostate-meets-witness confrontations.
Please share.

These letters will blow your mind!
by Dogpatch inthese letters will blow your mind!.
it's hard to beleive that one or two small-minded men in the service dept.
could be responsible for thousands of medical emergencies going bad or even death.

Argumentation such as this is precisely why the Governing Body doesn't want its members to be educated. Otherwise they have to fall back on the 'running ahead of God's chariot' warning. My hat's off to the patient elder who with his time and determination has provided me much ammunition against the society with my folks.
Thanks Randy for sharing!

Hi Tracy,
I did read the posts above and others in various threads and noted that Kent was the one who did the actual uploading of the photograph and that he then removed it. I also noted that there was public outcry over the situation. Perhaps in using the word 'perpetrator' I used too strong a word to refer to the person(s) who forwarded Prisca's picture. However, this seems to be the last aspect of the incident that just won't die and I would guess that there is a trail leading somewhere and all the participators on that trail probably check in here at some point or another. Now they certainly are not obligated to come forward but in the interests of resolving the matter once and for all, and in the interests of saving bandwidth on this subject it might behoove them to do so. Maybe Prisca's frequent postings on the subject may actually compel them to do so at some later date, who knows?
Also, although I wasn't actually the person who likened the incident to a rape I do understand that rape can be non-physical and therefore can see how it might loosely apply.

Freewill - a paradox
by gravedancer ini have had a couple of discussions about freewill lately but it seems as if i am talking to a brick wall.
here is my basic reasoning, perhaps you can point out what i am missing.. lets outline the 2 common assumptions normally associated with the debate concerning adam, god and freewill:.
2. god gave adam freewill to obey him or not to.

Can someone please point me to the Ex-JW support board? I'm really surprised that more people aren't pleading with the perpetrator to come forward publicly or privately in an effort to end this matter instead of pleading with the victim to shut up. Injustice is not so easily silenced, it screams out to be satisfied and justice is usually the only thing that will satiate it. No one should tell a victim to shut up already, it does much harm to their psyche.
Look how we rally against the Watchtower society for not stepping up to the plate and admitting error, choosing instead to lay blame at the feet of those it has misled. The same is happening here. Prisca is to blame for trusting people. Shutup already Prisca, get over it. The real person to blame should have never let things escalate to this point. At this point it may be very difficult to confess.
I can see that some have issues with Prisca and I don't know anything about her but that has nothing to do with the real issue here unless she is guilty of the same act in the past.If someone had wronged me in this forum and I sought their identity, I would shout it from the rooftops. And I would allow no one to convince me to let it go if I chose to pursue it. While it is true that Prisca may find that she is getting absolutely nowhere in her quest, how long she wishes to continue is for her alone to decide.
It also didn't appear to me that she went looking for a new soapbox upon which to air the wrong yet again; someone asked for evidence of transgression on the part of some posters here and she supplied an example. Again, this is well within her right as a wronged person and it was completely on topic in that thread as far as validating a fear on the part of Kismet that someone might publish info on him.
Of course, this is just my opinion as a person who would like to see the matter come to a close but who recognizes there is a better way to settle a problem than just ignoring it.
