I only had one "moment" with God when I was in. Then I left and blocked my self off from noticing his work in my life. Now that I am paying attention and interested in a relationship with him, I see him all over my life. The specific things I talk about with my friend to help her and especially what I am learning about God is how much he loves me and tries to cheer me up. A few examples: I was upset about a contest that I entered and didn't win. The next day a girl brings me a medal for a 5K that I walked in 2 weeks prior...it was 3rd place, but I was just so excited to win something that it didn't matter and I knew God did that. Another example (and these are small examples, but it doesn't take much for me) I went to a party with my husband and I was upset because there wasn't anything there that I knew and people didn't want to talk about things I wanted to talk about (like recipes, exercise, God, etc) and I got really sad (also I had drank too much) and wanted to leave. I felt all alone. The next day my husband and I were talking about a christmas party for my work and how the owner of the company loved my husband and liked him a lot better. So, at Sunday school later that morning, the owner of my work that we were talking about came up to me and mentioned how she loved sitting with us at the christmas party because we were so cute and then she started talking to me about food because she remembered I liked to cook and gave me a health tip that someone shared with her. And there are some stories that I have about conversations that I have with my friend and then the sermon at church was just about word for word what I had shared with her the day before. I have a relationship with him for sure! But before, I just didn't know to search for him like that!

Relationship with Jehovah?
by Batman89 inwhen you were a devout jw.
did you feel that you had an actual "relationship" with jehovah/god just from praying to him and reading the wt or bible?.
or that this was actually even possible deep down?.

My JW Mom came for an impromptu visit yesterday. It went great! :)
by Faithful Witness init is so nice to start actually believing that my mom wants to have a relationship with me and my kids again.
there was awhile, where it was in question, and she wasn't sure if she was supposed to associate with us or not.
i think the stand that my sister has taken against me, is actually causing my mom to start doubting whether it is a good idea to follow this cruel example of "love" as defined by the watchtower.

This made me a little jealous seeing as how my mom is heading for the shunning road. But then again, you are studying, which would make my mom and dad have sudden approval for me. Like when I went to the memorial, my mom hugged me so tight and told me she loved me and then wanted to invite us over for dinner...
I am glad you were able to give her some things to think about. It gives me hope that I could do that one day with my mom.

WT's 1914 vs. Jesus Christ's Message on Matthew 24:36 & Acts 1:6
by ProfCNJ inthis striking thought just came into my mind.. our lord jesus christ said: "concerning that day and hour, nobody knows, neither the angels of the heavens nor the son, but only the father.
for just as the days of noah were, so the presence of the son of man will be.
" matthew 24: 36-37 (revised new world translation or rnwt).

A WORLD GOVERNMENT???
by ADJUSTMENTS inthis new tract being released by the jws sounds an alarm!!!
the tract at first glance does not look religious at all!!!
it looks like political information, you have to almost search for the one scripture cited.

It doesn't say if they are for or against a one-world government.

Dealing with feelings of resentment?
by new hope and happiness inon the main i have found peace with my watchtower exsperience, but i do have occasional feelings of resentment towards some i feel dissapointed in.
i have tryed to dismiss this with it was my fault for putting these people on a pedestal they didnt belong.
but how deal with these feelings?.

I have that same conflict. I know that I should forgive them because I heard that you can become like the thing that you cannot forgive. This can be seen in my life because I resent the rejection and superior attitude and I have felt superior too. So, I heard if you ask God to help you forgive 5000 times that day, the next day 2456 times, and so on until it is completely gone. Since I still have all my family except for me in still, it's a little difficult, but I just have to pray for them until I have peace. I'll start that tonight and see how it goes. I do love getting on here and seeing all the sarcasm and parodies...I'm not sure if it helps my case, though, but it sure is funny!

Strike 3 for the elderette and me! (???) I never heard a JW talk SO much about Jesus!
by Faithful Witness inmiss k and her friend miss w arrived promptly today.
our scheduled topic of discussion: jesus' claim to be "the way, the truth and the life..." john 14:6 since she was basing this topic choice on the fact that i had quoted that verse, i'm not sure why... she spent what seemed like a very long time, hopping through scriptures that all said that jesus was the truth, the way, or the life.
ok, so we agreed... i kept waiting for her to get to a point, or sway from this principle.. of course, she summed up with scriptures that show how jesus submits to the father, and what does that mean we should do?

I wanted to respond with a "ditto" but took the peacemaker route instead. It's not the first time she's called me satan. She has said I worship the devil and once she said that Satan probably answered my prayer. So, once she played the satan card, I knew I had to bow out before I got too upset. We left it on good terms.

Making known God's "name" isn't literal. I think it is more about making known who he is!

Those are great points. She ended up quoting 2 Cor 11:14-16 where it says that Satan can disguise himself as an angel of light. This was after I told her that all of her "points" made me realize I was a true christian. After she basically said I was satan, I just told her that I am encouraged and that I spoke from the heart and that we should continue to grow spiritually as we do everything to the glory of Jehovah and trust in Jesus works for salvation and to have a great week! Then we "smiled" at each other. She's blind.
