This year I decided to take a 20% pay cut and work four days a week. Yea, my days eating at good restaurants are over, but to have the extra day to go to the beach, etc. while everyone else is at work is totally worth it.

Would you rather have more time or more cash?
by Leander init seems like unless you're incredibly wealthy or lucky that its impossible to have both at the same time, especially if you're a working stiff.
right now between my wife and i we make a fairly decent living, however we don't have a lot of time to do things together (or alone) until the weekend comes around.
and we all know how short weekends can be, not to mention if a lot of errands need to be done that can eat up your time fairly quick.

'I really feel God protected me'
by ashitaka inokay, folks.
whenever people say these kind of things in disasters i think, "well, what about the other guy who got killed?
god didn't feel like saving little johnny today?

This reminds me of how, whenever there would be a major disaster, people in the congregation would always ask how many JWs got killed. Like the rest didn't matter.....

Secret WTS Social Agenda
by spaz inthis is a both a departure from the conventional paleo-hellenic concepts of logic to a primitive yet equally tenable principle of,'actions speaking louder than words', and a synopsis.. the wts is but one of many groups which are devoted to the disintergration of the traditional or biblical family structure, via nefarious means, as part of a greater plan that envisions a two-class new world order resembling feudalism.. .
the philosophic means to achieve this state is non-biblical.
the wts repudiates the christian principle of "loving your neighbour as yourself " by adopting an altruistic approach which demands to 'love your neighbour above yourself ".

Oh please! The WTS reminded me more of the US 1950s male/female stereotypes! The are very few female breadwinners in the WTS - unless housecleaning brings in a lot more money than it did 10 years ago.

Men: What's your favorite cologne?
by ozziepost ini don't see why we should allow such blatant discrimination on the board as to allow a thread "for women" only, asking their favorite men's cologne.
so guys and blokes, so that we can participate, how's about declaring before these ladies your favorite cologne/after shave?
mine's tuscany.

Well - I'm not a man but I wear men's cologne (gasp!). I wear Pleasures for Men. It just smells yummy.

Bad JW Dating Experiences
by zenpunk infor a short period of time i experienced the joys of dating within the organization.
here are two of my personal examples:.
i dated a guy for about a month who's mother (in her late 30s by the way) was supposedly of the "anointed".

Terafera-
The guy with the "anointed" mother was in Florida. Anyway, I feel sorry you had to experience that incident. We had a "Farm" boy at our congregation that used to pull the same sort of stunts. Fortunately, being as unpopular with the boys as I was, I wasn't a target. What was interesting though is that a few years after he arrived at our hall he got in a serious car accident. 5 sisters from surrounding congregations fled to his bedside, all claiming to be his girlfriend!

My mom once said to me "I guess you'd better try to enjoy this life because you won't be around in the next system of things". It broke my heart.

stephanie and her new girlfriend...
by airwlk149 inthis has nothing to do with jw's whatsoever, and it is totally personal, so here goes.... i went over to my ex girlfriend's house to pick up my mail.
(i moved out and some of my mail still goes there even though i put in a change of address form.
) we had gotten in a fight the night before.

Whenever I've had ex's try to tell me about their new relationships I always immediately pointed out the fact that they are being extremely inconsiderate! It's usually a head game they're playing and it will frustrate them if you don't allow yourself to get sucked in by it. Lesbian relationships are tough - you've got to deal with people in a multitude of phases of "coming out" as well as those who treat it as a hobby. In other words, as soon as a man's on the scene - they're gone.

How do YOU deal with it??
by bad_associashun inhello all- recently joined, had some probs getting logged in, but here at last.... anyway, the question is: for those that can relate, when your heart feels heavy from the hurt, pain, regret, sorrow, bitterness, anger... and the lost years, stolen time, forsaken friends, broken relationships, wasted energies, abandonment, and lost love weighs on you --> caused by wt org.
stress.... how do you get past it?
what heals you, brings you relief, rescues you from total worthless feelings of inadequacy, comforts your wounds, keeps you from jumping on the train tracks?.

You've got to focus on and fill your life with new happinesses. It took me years to learn this. I used to be so filled with anger. Then, sometime ago I met a fellow XJW who was my best friend 13 years ago. When I saw how the anger had consumed him, I realized I couldn't let this 10 year period in my past destroy my entire life. I take it one day at a time...
