  Why are JW's so predictable? I think you allegation of "hatred toward the Org." is a bunch of BS. While many of us believe they are silly, backward, dogmatic, unyielding and many times cruel, it's not out of hatred for anyone. Your use of the term "Hatred" is more about you than it is about us. You are just reinforcing you own conditioned belief that ex-JW's are 'foaming at the mouth' spewing hatred towards Jehoobahs organization. That's what you have been led to believe and it seems that you are trying to convince yourself, if not us, of that. Can you paste any of this alleged "hatred" that you have read? I doubt it. I could be wrong, so please paste the posts you have read that constitute 'hatred'.

  I'm gonna make a prediction too. You will avoid all serious discussions regarding your religion. Why? Becuase under the light of scrutiny the JW's faith is a silly, goofy sham. It's so rediculous that 'the Society' knows a serious discussion of it reveals it for what it is. Why do you think they tell you not to talk with anyone critical of your publishing company? Especially on *gasp* the internet. You can deflect, deny and shift attention off the point at hand, that's the only real option you have. Again, I could be wrong, so if you disagree feel free to seriously discuss any of the questions that have been leveled.

  We don't hate you. In fact I really enjoy the fact that you are here - it's great! But please, try not to peddle the bullshit here. We've all seen it before.

  A possible way to get JWs info w/out incriminating oneself?

  i have an idea on how to get information in a way that won't get you identified ... i wanted to put it to this forum for scrutiny before i actually put it into practice.

  i am on several people's jw spam list.

  .meaning they constantly send me the same things that go around in other circles, like the "send this to five friends" or they send the scriptures for the week's book study, or they send a "jws in the news" article or something like that.

  What the heck, I've thought of the same thing. You could write a fake letter from a Bethelite about the Tsunami Disaster in the Indian Ocean. Somehow weave in the WT/NGO association in it and connect it with logistical difficulties they are having providing humanitarian relief now that they have disassociated from the UN. Send them the link to the UN page too. End the whole thing with some sort of upbuilding "I'm so glad to be in the Borg crap" You could get creative!

  Hey Def'd

  I'm still trying to make up my mind about JW's. Somethings been bothering me and I wonder how you handle this.... The folks I have studied with tell me that the Society is directed by Jehovah and is his mouthpiece on Earth, however, a friend at work has also shown me Watchtower magazines where they have predicted the end of the world, like in 1914, 1925, and 1975. In one of the articles it even refered to these as "Gods dates, not mans".

  Now, I know people make mistakes, but Jehovah doesn't. So if they said these things, they couldn't have received it from Jehovah could they? And doesn't Dueteronomy 18:20-22 warn us about false messengers?

  Maybe you can help me sort this out?

  i know that there's a lot of people here who have been deeply hurt by the jehovah's witnesses (i have as well).

  i also know that the gb are a bunch of lying bastards.

  still i have also met a lot of people who have made their lives much better by becoming jehovah's witnesses.

  Yeah probably so for some JW's, especially older, deeply entrenched ones.

  The only problem is ex-JW's are usually in the position of defending their skepticism of the Society. For me, I get irritated when family members actual try to look down on me when in reality they are the naive schmucks who have been duped. Once that happens I then try to compell them to at least acknowlege the point. I don't know about anyone else, but if I were not confronted by it, I doubt I would seek to dissuade anyone unless they asked and were receptive. The only exception might be someone who is young or just became acquainted with JW's.

  So, while ignorance is bliss, arrogance will get you a (spiritual) punch in the nose!

  i was reading another thread of the high # of defections within the org, and this lead me to question:.

  when and if, do you think the org will totally ban jw's use of the internet?.

  i think it will happen, they are starting to see a big drop and need to curtail it some how, and they know that many surf the web and come across sites like this, and once people discover all the coverups and the "new light" stuff and personal stories, their are going to be questions that lead to being df'd or da's.

  I think the internet will either: 1) continue the slow bleed of JW's to greater obscurity. 2) force them to change, become more mainstream and finally admit they don't speak for God or have special insight. I think they latter is inevitable especially when the "old guard" passes.

  I debated with my "devout" JW mom and her JW elders for 5 hours

  as most of you know by now i have told you that my mom has been a "devout" jw for over 40 years and i can't get her to budge.

  well the last time we debated she left me totally confused and in a daze.

  i did some fast research and this past sunday we had a free-for-all debate that lasted 5 hours.

  Hey Booker-t,

  Follow up by writing your mom a carefully researched letter on the prophet issue. You know, where they say: "these are gods dates not mans", "God touches their lips to pronounce glorious bs..." and other gems. Compare it with Scriptures (duet 20, Luke 21:8, etc)

  This puts it on YOUR terms.

  Is Walmart right or wrong?

  here in quebec, walmart decided to close a walmart store because the 190 employees wanted to become unionized.

  walmart said that they weren't making money at that store, and that's why they are closing.

  we all know that the real reason why walmart wants to close is because the employees want to be unionized.. in this day and age, do you think that walmart is right, or the employees?.

  I think it's great! True, Walmart is in it to make money, but so are the employees. Hell who isn't. I don't see what's so sacred about a mega-corporation harvesting as much profit as possible with little regard for the people that enable them to do so. Obviously the employees were willing to take the risk. Now maybe someone local can benefit from the $$ spent in their community on general goods rather than some foriegn multinational Company.
