There was a peace rally in my town as well. It's kinda like a social event.
I favor peace. But I want a long term sustainable peace over a short term wishful peace only enjoyed by Americans. When you look at Saddam Huesain some facts immediatly jump off the page.
1) Saddam, as a matter of policy, tortures and imprisons thousands of people each year. His is the only government on Earth that has on the payroll a "violator of the honor of women" - a rapist - as a legitimate job designation. The Iraqi people are subjigated by a paranoic fear of torture. UN human rights reported on many of his systematic human autrocities.
2) Saddams weapons program (prior to inspectors being kicked out in 94') produced enough biological weapons (Anthrax & Botulin) to kill EVERYONE on Earth 3x over. It is estimated that UN inspectors destroyed ~50% of his capability in this area in 1994.
3) Saddam has aggressively persued LONG RANGE missile technology - purchasing and hiding sophisticated missile guidence systems. He also successfully doubled the range of his SCUD missiles and fitted them with chemical/biological dispersion warheads.
4) British Intelligence has reported that Saddam produced multiple mobile Bioweapons labs using RV type vehicles equiped with portable labs.
5) Saddam duplicated and improved upon the isotopic seperation devices used to seperate fissile (nuclear weapons grade) materials. It is a known fact that Saddam has attempted to buy enriched Uranium, Smallpox, and the means to deliver them.
Peace for the US does NOT mean peace for Iraqi's.
Question for all peace advocates.... I truly respect your cause, but it seems to offer no solutions. What is the solution to the obvious present/future threat of this meglomaniac? Diplomacy has an 11 year history of failure.
