  jw meetings and obedience to the society

  in what ways does each of the jw meetings play a part in instilling obedience to the mother organization?

  or maybe put another way, how does each weekly jw meeting contribute to the overall jw mindset?.

  this thought came to me whilst drifting in and out of the watchtower study this morning.. ministry school: helps jws strengthen their speaking skills for better defending their beliefs.

  Sounds more and more like Nazi Germany every damn day.

  Actually, the fact that you haven't been called on the carpet for directly challenging the Society in a meeting is an encouraging sign. Either your elders are slacking off, or the entire culture is rotting. I knew it was fetid, but if they can't crack down on a little pipsqueak that dares to challenge Mother's Word then they are just not as on top of things as the elders I remember.

  wts has quite a few traits which are typical of totalitarian systems.

  many of them have been demonstrated on this board (labeling, shunning, monopoly on truth, propaganda, indoctrination, polarization of reality etc.)..

  there is one more aspect of the wts religion which can also be observed in most totalitarian systems and that is the system of granting privileges.

  I would agree that our culture's prejudice against trades jobs (even though they are more stable, just as well-paying, and in the case of unionized jobs, have better benefits than their white collar counterparts) is a tool the Society uses. It makes people take jobs that the culture tends to shunt to the side - further ostracizing them. It is even subtly anti-union in its propoganda, as it puts down the political process that many unions undergo - making it "wrong" to contribute to union political funds, etc. So you wind up with non-unionized, lower class labor force in your religion. People with no option but to keep working for the BOrg and hope the New System jackpot pays out someday.

  So all that energy that would go into self-improvement, through bargaining, action, etc. is wasted on a system that rewards you with "talk slip filling out duty" and the like.

  IF I were a cynical man, I would say the Borg is a deliberate attempt to destabilize a segment of labor... cheap window washing, anyone? No SEIU workers here...

  Plus you can't hold anybody accountable for saying they were going to leave JWD and then coming back. Everyone says that. And then comes back.

  Based on the facts:

  1) I am an immortal spirit being that did something bad in the past.

  2) that the whole world is my eternal prison.

  3) Part of my punishment is that I had my spirit memories removed.

  4) Most of you are obviously bad actors probably not being paid enough to pretend to be human.

  5) Some of you are fellow prisoners.

  6) A tiny minority are the real humans, the original inhabitants whose DNA the rest of us have copied and adapted, even as we supplanted the original monkey-creatures and drove them into extinction, or in worse cases, service economy jobs.

  7) God is not kind enough to let me die. Oh no, I get to hang around for the rest of the universe, watching your mind-numbing torturevision and feeling the omnipotence of my intellect gradually being corroded under an endless stream of Jerry Springer final thoughts and neo-Communist rhetoric.

  8) As proof, I present the inherent illogic of our lives on this planet. How long are we going to "almost be out of oil?" Hm? The power source of the future will come from Your Anium??? Mm-hm. The whole cosmos is so obviously the design of somebody who thinks that the 3 Stooges are the height of artistic vision. Which is okay as long as you think the 3 Stooges are funny (I do). But the poor bastards with no sense of humor? They actually chase money around like the paper is worth anything? OR sometimes, even imaginary money - credit cards, savings bonds, and e-commerce? HA!

  i have a question for those who got married in a jw ceremony, or who became jws after being married.

  did the elder marrying you, or those studying with you, counsel you as to what forms of sexual intercourse are acceptable within jehovah's loving organization(tm)?

  just having a "discussion" of sorts on another board and i'm being challenged by a dutiful jw wife.

  My dad was the man they called when they wanted to hear the "Sex and God" talk. Believe me, they called him in from all OVER the city to give that talk. I must have heard it seriously, 25 times. No other elder wanted to give it. He didn't really want to either, but he was nice enough and mature enough to do it; so he did it.

  I've had my father warn me against oral and anal sex; as well as masturbation. From the PLATFORM!

  In many ways, I learned to be a stronger person. I mean, you've got to respect somebody who is willing to do the job that nobody else has the balls to do. Zounds!

  i have in my hands a talk outline from 12/1957 talk s-34c even though the source material is not quoted, the outline is plainly anti jew.. can someone tell me exactly how to scan/post to make sure people can see the original in good form?.
