well here's my story:.
i was born into a jw family, my father having been converted and not really much of a believer and my mother being born into it .
my mother's family first became involved with jw's when my great grandmother was converted from, i think, catholicism (i'm only saying that b/c she was irish).
Well,
If you feel the need for structure in you spiritual life, there is nothing wrong with joining a religion, and Catholicism has a lot of good universities for you to explore your theological interests - and they permit a great deal of debate once you get into the upper echelons, although I don't agree with their official teachings...
Anyway, whatever you decide, don't give up your newly found intellectual freedom.

jw's like to believe that people who leave the organization do it for selfish reasons or due to impatience and not "waiting on jehovah".
there's a variety of reasons for persons making the decision and saying, "that's it!
i'm not doing this anymore".
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: One naked woman in your dorm room is better than thirty years of pioneering.
Two naked women at the same time is better than any amount of "paradise earth" promises.

My one buddy put on a Frenchy accent in the door to door work. I was too staid and complacent and Bible furious to ever even think about something like that... fell asleep in the car sometimes and counted the time anyway!

anytime something went wrong in the world with an individual, they would use them as example over and over and over again.. the most common one i heard was brother a got into big trouble with __________ (insert problem here, pick any one), see this is what happens when you leave the organization.. so how many jw's will be saying ............. "did you hear what happened to kobe, big successful athlete, see he didn't have god's organization and satan got him.".
i wonder how many jw parents especially in the la area will make their kids stop wearing number 8. he did and admit to committing adultrey.
sexual assault, i don't think so.

I came because I was seeking some way to align what I felt about the religion with actual facts and study - ie. it is a compilation of all kinds of research that helps me stay mentally free of the cult.

many believe that between a fourth and a third of the bible concerns prophecy.. many believe that history shows that god's unerring prophecies of the kingdoms and empires of,egypt,isreal,judah,babylon,persia,greece and rome all came to pass in minute detail.. if his prophecies came true in centuries past,can you----should you-----believe in bible prophecy today?.
btw.we are not talking about the society but the many other religious teachers and scholars who swear by the fulfillment of bible prophecy.. blueblades

just been doing some reading on predictions for the future based on current scentific research.
seems its just possible that cures for cancers, hereditary dieaseses, even ageing may not be too far off.but they are probably far enough off that our generation could miss out.
its breath taking to think that we could possibly be the last generation of humans to suffer from major illnesses and early death.
Sigh....
when has anything ever been promised that turned out like we wished?
No paradise earth, no cure for cancer, nothing but half steps and better painkillers.

Mostly, I've found that kids sort out their own lives, and as long as they stay away from hard drugs, they turn out okay. Just be there, give good advice, and make sure she plans for the future. That's all she needs to worry about, getting a good education. As for the boyfriend, well, who can say? Maybe it will work, maybe it won't.
