  Send those Box Tops in to the Watchtower!

  back in the 1930's, the watchtower had a special task for all the congregations (at that time called companies!

  ) they were to have people clip box tops from cereal boxes!

  these box tops were then gathered and sent off to the society.. i believe that at the time, box tops could be redeamed for cash $$$$.

  This thread brought me memories of when my former congregation was building a new Kimgdom Hall: the elders were initially urging the "brothers" to bring in all types of recyclable that could be converted into money: alluminun cans, cardboards, glass bottles, etc.

  Until they realized that this wasn't working. Then they took a more radical approach: "brothers, we need money". Then, the argument presented was both simple and effective: "we cannot build a house to Jehovah out of trash, my brothers. Doesn't the Bible say we need to honor Jehovah with our valuable things?" quoting all kinds of Bible reference you can imagine.

  The result? A few years later the Hall was built. And this wasn't but just about 10 years ago.

  Nothing that a good, Bible based (tm) drive can't accomplish. How sad.

  Could This Be the Most Repellent Watchtower ....Ever?

  on it's rear cover, it has the following article:.

  "the branch office of jehovah's witnesses in nigeria recently received a letter that, in part.

  That's a good one Metra.

  "Our son, Anderson, died when he was 14. Before his death, he was raising two chickens."

  Just before finishing reading the sentence I thought it would say "two children", but to my dismay it said "two chikens". OMG!

  A man of this age should be ashamed of raising chickens. Couldn't he choose something better to raise?

  I'm sorry, folks, but I'm joking because I think this whole story is fake, not just the chicken part.

  But, yes, what a shame for the Society to profit from the death of this young man IF this story is true! What a shame!

  It was a bogus article like this on the back of another magazine that helped me wake up. Thank you, Watchtower.

  So, in short we have these realeases:

  Friday: a remaking of the 1983 brochure, called Good News For People of All Nations.

  Saturday: a 32 page brochure Keep on the Watch.

  The golden age of those exciting releases seems to be gone.

  If so, why would the Society sell one building and build this apartment complex?

  Are these new apts for rent or for bethelites?

  Passive-aggressive Witnesses are skipping meetings and walking past lonely contribution boxes. Witnesses are padding their field service time, downloading porn, sneaking peeks at apostate sites, and generally doing whatever they please - while safely out of sight.

  I have for the most part enjoyed your comments and opinions. It's nice to hear people's opinions. I fail, though, to see where the 'insight' is. I see these things above more as your, uhmm.... opinions, and.... wishfull thinking.

  Please don't get me wrong, but how can you make such fantastic claims? Would you be able to back them up? Care to explain?
