  New Kansas Science Standards

  Sure would be nice for a Board of Education to state that they will be teaching "'SCIENCE' in science class."

  That simple statement would be a good start. They could further clarify by stating that any disagreement with scientific conclusions will require a scientific basis before they will be taught in a science class. And if they really wanted to be clear, they could state that any discussion of ID is a philosophical one and, if taught, will be taught in a philosophy class.

  That is how bad things are right now, they are afraid to say so, even if they believe it.

  Hoob: Go ahead and believe in ID, direct creation, or the divinity of trees if you want. Just don't pretend it is science.

  What is the best JW book please?

  hi everyone.. i'm keen to read more books about jw's.

  i've so far only read crisis of conscience but now have the appetite.i'd be more interested in the background of the organisation and what kind of people russell and rutherford were etc, but i'd also like to read any "apostate" exposes, especially ex elders.

  Franz' books are the best.

  But I give a close second to the last one I read: "Visions of Glory" by Barbara Grizzuti Harrison. It is an extremely well-written first-hand look by an insider covering a long period of time. It is also unique among ex-dubbie genre because it is written by a woman. It has a point of view that I found eye-opening.

  I got mine on E-bay.

  1. The screening seems to get more involved every time. Don't be too disappointed if you're are turned away.

  2. Don't do any extreme exercise before. It will lower you blood volume and can get you rejected.

  3. I don't know if it pshycosomatic, but from the day after and for a few more days, I feel great. I understand that the donation stimulates replacements. I think I feel better because of the new blood.

  4. I hate the follow-up calls a few weeks later from the Red Cross trying to get me to book an appt.

  5. It is a cheap way to find out if you iron levels are good. They'll also let you know if tests they run turn up anything you should know about.

  The truly embarassing part of the story is that soooo many Americans don't know the difference between 'science' and 'believing something'.

  What may eventually become worse is if Bush can jam up the courts with appointees that are either so partisan, or so stupid that they would actually uphold the ID tripe.

  The Reaction to the Big News at Work Today

  i work at the department of health here in washington state.

  i took two copies of barbara's initial post (infomercial) regarding the news and the links.

  what i got were people highly skeptical of the voracity, and highly suspicious of the university that published it (baptist so therefore not really credible in the subject of law).

  it seems some are a little 'disappointed' with the latest news and events re: the wts and blood.. they seem to love the jerry springer-type scandal where someone will shout (in the street where it is worthless) that "the president raped me" or "all the gb are gay" or "elvis ate my hampster" or whatever.. hay, yeah, that is great new huh?

  that stuff reaaaallllllyyyy makes people think .... .. .. ... that we are f r u i t c a k e s !!.

  perhaps those that are so quick to criticise and dismiss will.

  so this week on the service meeting there was a part in the km about divine education.

  true to form, it was another anti-college, pro-pioneering propaganda piece put out by our buddies in brooklyn.. in the third paragraph, it babbled forth about how colleges and universities don't teach people to overcome racism, tribalism, and something else.

  (someone please post scan on dec. 2005 km front page).

  You get Jerry Springer? ...out there across the pond? Don't you guys have enough of your own trash to foist on the tea-sipping, scone-eating, M-Python-worshipping masses?

  It seems that some here have yet to lose their deeply-ingrained training to look down on eveything. Clearly many have lost the point that those seeking to seek retribution around the blood issue may have a new asset. I'm looking forward to getting the article and reviewing it.

  But, be honest, can you blame some people for expecting a bit more after three days of hype?
