Do you plan to donate your organs when you die?
by LyinEyes ini just saw this movie john q. with denzel washington, and it is a great movie.
the subject is about health care or lack of,,, and the need for organ donations.
i have always felt strongly about this and this movie really made me think about doing something instead of just saying it.

There are more reasons. I agree with others in other threads that have stated that you are the sum of your experiences, and part of that was growing up a dubbie. I was like most that could see evil in the crotch of a tree.
Its been 20 years since I walked into a Hall - but I still appreciate the closeness my sisters and I had with the unusually large group of friends our age. I liked those people. I'm not sure if I would like the adults they became - I doubt I'll ever find out.
But, for more practical benefit, I still like some of the views of the world at large that were drilled into me so often and for so long. I feel very little compulsion to agree with publice sentiment. And you gotta admit, its great fun at parties to talk about the belief set of those clowns.

Best Country for Immigrants...America
by WhyNow2000 inlately, there has been a lot of lively discussion about the good the bad and the ugly about .
what i want to know is which country is the best for immigrants?
every government is a bad government until it is compared to other governments.

Unfortunately, I have to agree that this country is the best destination for immigrants.
I wish it were not so. We have room - just not that much room.

What do you fear the most about the WT cult?
by Claudia Kittel inwhen i was a jw, i think what i was most afraid of was being hurt.
i did everything to keep myself from getting hurt.
i banged on doors with the best of the pioneers.

At this point I have no fear of those clowns. They've done all the damage they're gonna do. I've learned that there are many ways to live one's life. I've learned that a matter of conscience is just that - and that I'll decide such things for myself.
Now I find it fun to read the old books and laugh at them - at myself a little bit too.

not my enemy
by teejay infollowing on the heels of what bowen said about ray, i began to see a statement that real soon began to get under my skin.
i've read it several times since and i hafta say: that little irritant is beginning to fester more than i care for.
the statement was something in the neighborhood of, "let's not get side-tracked with this franz / bowen fiasco and remember who our real enemy is... the watchtower society!".

Well written Teejay. I agree to a large extent.
But I consider the WT an enemy, I think of the hold it still has on what should have been lifelong friends. But in line with your post, and it sounds reasonable to me, that my friends are at fault - being adults and all.
More to the point: If you personally knew JW victims of JW abuse, you would be singing another tune - I feel certain. Yeah, anyone can say that, 'it is terrible though it happens everywhere.' But the tragedy is when an organization provides the fertile grounds, promotes conditions for abuse, and worst of all, treats the vicitm as though she (usually) is guilty of something. I have seen it. Her dear old daddy gets a tap on the wrist, and she is admonished to forgive and forget (not go to the police). This treatment of a victim is often as traumatic as the original abuse.
Again, I have seen it. These are innocent children. And the WTS is the enemy.

Spirituality ??
by Blueblades inwhy do the elders always equate meeting attendance and field service with the level of ones spirituality?i keep hearing them repeating,"we hate to see you lose your spirituality",by not attending the meetings and going out into the field service.the 1973 comprehensive concordance points to jude 19 as the only reference to the word spirituality.however in the 1985 ed.of the kingdom interlinear of the greek scriptures the actual word at jude19 is spirit not spirituality.jude19 remarks that one can lose god's spirit if one became " ungodly".the society deliberately transposes the word spirit to spirituality from the greek into the english new world translation.the reason i bring this subject up is because that's all i ever hear when you miss meetings and field service.not once has an elder used the scriptures to support that viewpoint or interpertation with me.since circumstances differ with all of us, how in the world can they make a such a blanket statement and a wrong one at that!?
your thoughts please,blueblades.

JH, you're on the money. In the JWs, spirituality is the equvilent of "level of brain washing." They need adherents to attend the constant flow of mind-numbing, head-nodding indoctrination sessions. If they miss a few meetings, their heads may slip out of their collective rectums and they may smell fresh air.

We have a nice fir tree in our front that is too expensive to move, but too big to leave. So we are planning to take it down for our christmas tree. I have half a mind to leave a three-foot stump to horrify the neighbors.

Sorry to hear about it. I guess you're on your way to the 'couve' right now.
I hope your trip went as well as it could, under the circumstances.
