A message from Brother Russell
by donny ini was having an anointed moment last night when brother russell came to me in a dream.
he was quite disturbed and agitated.. he said "brother reed, what in the miracle wheat eating jellyfish is going on with the organization i set up?
the more of my beloved watchtower that i read the more they marginalize my dead ass.".

"In Gods Love" bible study ch 15, wife convinced to send our kids to Bethel
by DS211 inafter 6 weeks of hiatus from our home study we are finishing ch 15-see good for all your work.. throughout the last part of the chapter it goes i er how to view secular work--keep it simple and ministry first before work.
so the elder told me of a bro who went to a tech school for welding but got the real welding education with the siciety and is now 2nd in class welder at either bethel or the farm.
another bro went to bethel for computers and is now makes a ton if money oart time and can pioneer (jehovah made it all happen)...then elder we t into how 73% of kids cant get jobs after college and it isnt really an education but mostly partying.

Take another 6 week hiatus. The first thing I did upon stopping attending meetings was to enroll in a community college and earned a degree in computer programming. Best thing I ever did for myself.
Reality check. The elder gave two examples that he has heard of where things seem to have turned out well for the young persons. But what would these two young people say about their experience? We don't know.
How many people toil at Bethel for 10 or 20 years, showing proper respect for Jehovah's theocratically appointed Bethel elders, only to be laid off aka dismissed from Bethel on short notice? How many Bethelites are reassigned to pioneer work in Podunk USA? How many Bethelites have been sent home after a few bouts of a recurring medical condition that cause them not to be able work for a while? How many bright talented Bethelites have as a work assignment to fold sheets, push the laundry cart, or repaint rusty handrails. That is all admirable work. This is just a reality check on the wonderful world of a Bethel career.

They have slipped it in ........
by Slidin Fast inas we know, we can search the bible from cover to cover and we dont find any reference to the governing body.
not now, it has been slipped in for the outine of contents for acts 15. here we are looking at history through a modern, distorting lens.. outline of contents.
dispute in antioch regarding circumcision (1, 2)question brought to jerusalem (3-5)elders and apostles meet together (6-21)letter from the governing body (22-29)?

How did "apostles and the elders, together with the whole congregation, decided to send chosen men from among them to Antioch" become a governing body?
Verses 22, 23 sound more like an apology from Jerusalem rather than a decision. The only "decision" made was to send men in person. I say that they were making sure that their apology came across as sincere, since they send along respected men to say in person what was written on the short note. And it was a note, not a letter.

BIG conversation with the missus MKII. Ended well. Wish I could argue better!
by Captain Blithering inwell, had a loooooooong conversation with the missus again after being accused of being overly critical of the borg.. .
i stated that i thought the borg was marvellous, full of really good people, (in our experience, it has been so far), but that i had difficulty with the dogmatic stance we had on certain issues that we couldn't possibly be sure about, and that if i were to vocalise any of these issues and unrepentantly not change my thinking, then i could be df'd for that, which i view as an unloving bullying tactic.
organ transplants, vaccinations, (jah will resurrect, don't worry), new understandings of the fads and generations etc... particularly the thought that only jw's will be saved.

Oh by the way. When it was me in your spot, my wife initially listened and then asked if I might be under the influence of Satan, Satan being one to mislead many and transforms himself into an angel of light. I told her that I didn't think so at all, but that I would continue to study and pray about all things. We didn't talk about it much for many weeks, it might have been months. I was supportive of what she was doing with the Kingdom Hall. She was even a pioneering at the time. But she knew how I felt.
Long story short. She left on her own terms with very little doing of me. Her leaving had to be on her terms. I planted some seeds. The seeds fell on fertile ground, but she had to allow them to grow, not me.

Captain. Very good that you and the misses were able to talk things through. Now then, please, give her some space with this to digest this. This is big for her and her perception of all things will change. Don't you be the dogmatic one. She knows now. Anything new right away will come across as you being pushy or dogmatic. Who knows, after sorting through this, she may come back with her own misgivings about the Org, but they hav eto be HER misgivings. That will take some time.

Appointed by holy spirit
by Ben57 ini have been reading the posts on who is and or had been an elder.
it amazes me at what many have said.
perhaps i have misunderstood what they were saying.
-
Bob_NC
Someone please provide some WT quotes as to what the WTS has taught about elders being appointed "by holy spirit." I do not think there is any misunderstanding that the WTS has taught that elders are appointed by holy spirit acting on the matter.
I am sure there are quotes that indicate what Ben is saying. However, I am also sure that there are hundreds of quotes indicating that holy spirit is active on each appointment, is active on the GB making appointments, or is active on the the Society in general when appointment reccomendations are received.
How about elders being princes in all the land? And elders being the stars in the hand of the heavenly enthroned Jesus?
On a similar note, how about holy spirit bearing witness with the spirit of those who become the anointed?

Are You Embarrassed Because You Were A Jehovah's Witness?
by minimus ini am not.
everyone makes mistakes..
-
Bob_NC
Same as with NY44M and braincleaned, I WAS embarrassed when I was a believer. Not at all any more. I don't mind telling what I used to believe and why I believed at the time.
Do you suppose that our inner psyche, or true inner self, was always aware and that our embarrassment was due to living on the outside different from our inner truth?

Urgent: need judicial committee questions
by l p inhi all,.
need to to get a copy if it exists of the proforma of questions elders are to ask in a judicial committee relating to fornication/ adultery.
lp.

l p, I don't know how the following will help in a legal case because there are no specific questions that JCs are required to ask. The questions are not listed in a book.
Questions asked by any JC will differ depending on the men that make up the committee. Some brothers use the JC situation to ask all sorts of bizzare things. Other men are more polite and thoughtful. Following are typical questions asked by elders from my experience on JCs over 13 years.
How did you come to know this person?
When did you notice that this relationship was changing from being an acquaintance to becoming something more serious?
How did you react to this change? How did this make you feel?
How did you stay in contact with this person? How did you continue to meet?
When was the first time that you touched each other inappropriately? What happened? Did you do this [specific thing]? Did he/she do this [specific thing]?
How often would you say that this has happened?
Did you use protection? [If you used protection, you can be judged as more guilty for planning to sin.]
Some elders just have to ask, Did you climax? Did he/she climax? What this adds to the discusssion is beyond me.
Where was Jehovah in your mind while you were doing these thing?
How do you think Jehovah felt about it? How do you feel about this person?
What steps have you taken so that this does not happen again?
