The God of Christians is Very Vague

i no longer consider myself a christian.. i feel that there may be a god, but if there is, he's not the god christians worship, for such a god makes no sense.. if as the bible says we need to have faith in jesus to get everlasting life,,, why would this god make it so misleading and leave so much room for ligitmate doubt,,, by having this information passed on to us by men and organizations that have not been totally honest????.

why would he use the bible to relate this information, when the bible is so full of errors????

the evidence is very clear that the bible has been tampered with over the centuries, so that a reasonable person can have legitimate doubts about the bible's origins.. also, why would god use men who are so prone to dishonesty, to convey this lifesaving information?.

Have you considered that all man's attempts to describe "God" have failed miserably?

How do we find out about God then - all we have as beginners are the Bible and the followers who teach it? Who described God to you? Wasn't it a human or based on what humans have written?

Further, if "God" were to use men, where would he find some that weren't prone to dishonesty, etc, etc?
Might I ask what issues you have with "Christ" (since that is the real crux of "Christianity", not the beliefs and behaviours of those who claim to follow him)?

If we should not listen to Christians, and if we should not look at their beliefs or read what was written by men then where should we turn?

Does God speak with you directly? Do you have visions sent from him?

Well, let's talk about the divorce of the polygamist, does it disolve the entire marriage, or just part of it? Who then do the kids belong to? After 5 wives and 30 kids, who pays the child support, and how much?

Ok let's talk about straight heteros here then (of which I am one).

I could reasonably ask most of the same questions you just did about hetero-marriage and the same answers apply: The courts.

If you have ever studied entities under the law you will run across all kinds of partnership agreements and the law deal with all of them. If we take God out of the picture marriage is just a legal partnership agreement, but with special privileges afforded to those forming the agreement if they are 1 man and 1 woman. I like you don't want and I am opposed to special rights for ANYONE (I am against affirmative action in all forms) - but I staunchly support equality and fairness. That being said I am not for the legalization of "gay marriage" but I am for the redefinition of marriage and removing the religion from it.

If we redefine marriage to allow gay marriage, then we need to redefine it to include anyone who wants to marry. Polygamy, incest, it's all fair game for state sanction if we allow gay marriage.

Agreed that we should allow people with other preferences to marry.

What's the problem? What is wrong with Polygamy?

it is easy to throw in stuff like Incest etc but thats looking for generalisations IMO,

I was listening to a talk show and a conservative talk show host was questioned about the violence and gore. Her response something along: "Well we know kids have witnessed 12,000 murders by the time they finish elementary school because of the smut we see on TV".

So now the Xian's will use the bad statistics to bolster their argument for seeing the movie - double standards are so lovely.

Question for Dubs

to this very day, the wts teaches that "babylon the grape" ("the world empire of false religion") "fell" in 1918. that was 86 years ago, yet religion is bigger than ever before in the world, and for the most part it is practiced without any problems or governmental intervention.

it is cults like the dubs which do get government interference in place, mostly because of their blood ban, and their sick and destructive social culture.. where then, and how then, did babylon the grape "fall" in 1918, little dubbies?.

ex- jehovahs witnesses often reject christianity based on what they were taught by the wts.

when i left jws it was difficult for me to see what christianity was all about - the non-jw version.

every time i picked up a bible, i could see the watchtower interpretation jumping out at me.
