  One Day assembly in Arizona- $17,000 !!

  i heard from a reliable source that a one-day assembly in arizona last weekend had a "cost" to the publishers of $17,000.. predictably, the elders were nice enough to obligate the attendees to a $6,000 donation to wt before the assembly "costs" (i.e.

  "rent/extortion) were even met.

  $11,000 rent plus $6000 in extra "donations".

  1. The GB do NOT actually "scrutinize" each and every WTBTS publication, or
  2. All of them are poor proof-readers.

  I can see how my mother has to convince herself every time there is a change.

  It's called cognitive dissonance baby, and it's a bitch. This is how people resolve it.

  I told her now that Gog,of Magog,is no longer believed to be Satan. She's like,well,that makes sense. That never made sense to me,ugh.

  Yeah, sadly funny. I would have asked her, "Well if it makes sense to you, could you explain it to me? And how long have you NOT believed it was Satan? ... So, that means then that, for all that time, you thought the WTBTS was wrong about the identity of Gog of Magog. What else do you think they're wrong about?"

  I'm sure she'd say, "Nothing."

  To which you could reply, "Good. Let's mark this down for future reference. You now, as of this moment do not think the WTBTS is wrong about anything. Great, then next time they make a doctrinal change, and they most certainly will, we're going to revisit it and see how you feel then, because you will NOT be able to say, 'That makes sense,' or 'That's what I already thought,' because you just told me that you agree with everything they currently teach."

  Frieking Bethel Heavies/COs and their second rings!

  dude, every picture i see of any bethel heavies or gb members (a lot of cos also) have them wearing a second huge gold ring!

  this is a clear sign of "hey i'm a bigshot!

  " you just dont see that in interviews of celebrities or politicials.

  it wasn't my preferred method of leaving but at least i'm as far as i can be from this cult.

  over 2 years ago i've tried to fade out but i guess i did it too drastically.

  i live in nyc so the entire territory is walkable and everybody in the congregation live pretty close by.

  the wt study was always supposed to be for discussion of 'the deep truths' of the bible.

  the wt may have always been filled with utter nonsense, but at least it had the appearance of a topical discussion of bible doctrine.

  i am sorry for the title but today just took the cake.

  after not going to the meetings since august and trying to sort through this with my family, my wife today told me she wants to separate because of our differences over being a witness or not.. this is ridiculous.

  so i said- how can you separate from me when the religion you whole heartedly believe says you can only separate for 3 reasons- abuse, willful non-support, or stopping her from her meeting attendance, etc.

  wallievase, I am truly sorry you're having to deal with this.

  It's a high-control cult only interested in one thing: themselves.

  If you can, focus on your relationship with your wife. Try and talk to her authentic self and not her cult identity.

  Some few are able to get out of this religion with their family intact, most are not.

  Terminology the Society Hates?

  in my most recent talk, i got counseled for using some terms that were not prefered.

  for example i said "new testament" rather than "the christian greek scriptures".

  i also used the term "gospel", but even worse, i made reference to the "synoptic gospels" and the "gnostic gospel".. i guess i never thought of it before, but when i looked at the societies information on the matter they always say things like, "the so-called new testament..." or "the so-called synoptic gospels..." why with all the "so-called?".

  I've noticed the elders don't like it when I call them "cowards" and tell them to "fuck off."
