I think was was taken today
by Elsewhere ini was walking to my car after work, it was very cold (low 40's f) and getting dark and a beggar woman walks up to me sobbing and crying about being cold.
she didn't want to go through another very cold night light last night (low 30's f) and she needed money to get into a local shelter.
yes, it costs $12 per night to get into a homeless shelter... that's texas for ya.

Do People Truly "Love" Each Other On This Forum?
by minimus ini read how certain ones will profess their "love" for another poster---a poster that they probably never met in "real life".
is it me or does this strike you as almost impossible??
?

You can't please everyone and won't be loved by all, even if you try.
As for loving all here, I hate no one.
And I love a few.

Sorry?
by RichieRich inover the past few days... someone who i'm no longer associated with has been out on vendetta to discredit me.
it started with a mass mail to my myspace friends, which caused nothing more than a few eyebrows to be raised.
that was the reaction of people who know me in real life.

Hi Richie
I also feel that a lot of Drama was made out of this story. It's none of our business what goes on in your personal life. There could be a thread written for each one of us, just like what happened to you. I'm not looking for who is right and who is wrong, or who is half right and who is half wrong, or who is 10% right and who is 90% wrong.
Parents forgive their children when they do something wrong, and still love them.
So, your real friends will still love you no matter what. The others aren't important.
This whole story is un important for me. I will always remember the good threads you've started and everything you shared with us, even if there was a bit of Hollywood added to it.

Lies on Line...I always thought JWD was a forum for Honesty
by restrangled inafter finding this forum and being raised in the jw religion, i found jwd a refreshing place for honest feelings, fears, life experiences etc.. the history of the jw's was exposed, and those who lived any experience under this regime has been told by many members.. to be lied to by any forum member is insulting.
i have over my past year and 1/2 come to love many posters.
i realize many more have much longer time put in here.. i have been honest and exposed more of my self than i care to think about, but always kept in mind that others were doing the same and it was best for anyone new.. to lie on this forum to all of these members is horrible and i am questioning why i am so honest here.

Some people lie, some don't, and some exaggerate a little.
If the white part is the truth and the black part is a lie, where does the lie start?

Affectionate Men vs Macho Men
by Thinking of Leaving ini was watching a 2004 (re-run) episode of average joe hawaii and larissa picked the handsome, muscular man over the loving, patient, understanding not so cute man.
i'm not sure if you're familiar with the show but in it this beautiful model/actress has to choose between an average joe and a good looking guy.
they started her off with 16 average looking men and eventually threw in 8 good looking ones to heat things up a bit.

When you walk into a room, you must be noticed otherwise you will be ignored.
Don't forget the deodorant.....

Kingdumb maladies gone bad ... er, I mean worse
by Frequent_Fader_Miles inlet's face it, those kindumb songs aren't award-winning compositions.
at one of my former congos, for the dedication of the kingdom hall, the elders decided to form a choir.
congregation secretary conductor stood there waving a broken radio antenna wildly in front of the group as they assaulted our ears!

You MUST DO MORE because you're not saved yet !!!
by JH inthere's an old elder that lives close by, and he is in his mid 70's and has a hard time walking because of his knees and weight.
the last time i talked to him a few years ago, he admitted that he was depressed.
a man living across the street, studying with the jw's and occasionally goes to meetings, pointed out to me how old, tired and discouraged many look at the hall.

He was talking about that elder in particular.
That elder goes to every darn meeting. He must think that he isn't saved yet and must do more... That kind of mentality is what pushes JW's to do more and more, and all the meetings and field service they did in the past is worthless, unless they keep on doing it.
The joy they should feel because Jesus gave his life for them, is replaced by fear that maybe they aren't doing enough.

Unemployed? That's more time for the ministry!
by truthseeker inhow many times did you hear jws say that you have more time for "jehovah and the ministry" if they knew you were out of work.. it makes me sick.
i was recently unemployed for a couple of months and all i get is these comments.
better to do with my time than waste it knocking on doors trying to recruit.

Knocking on doors won't put food on your table. Of course if you put the Kingdom first in your life, God will bless you with a job....

by AlmostAtheist ini just read a piece on cnn about the commodore 64. apparently it is what hundreds of thousands of people (the article says "millions" -- really?
