or was the 1975 date firmly set by then?.
interesting aside, i must speak to my dad about this, ask him how he felt as he was 'out' at the time and did not come back until a few years later, i wonder how he felt having being brought up in it?

this terrible event in your land saddens us all ... i am sorry that those responsible are likely doing this to get revenge upon your nation for its support of the united kingdom, the usa and other coalition of nations devoted to the war on terror ... you and your loved ones killed so tragically are in our thoughts and prayers ... your natioin is honored among us all ... and may you heal from this as quickly as possible.
I think in time it will, because the energy it takes to remain angry, to keep up the hate ... it can't last forever ...
I did not want to use this thread to get the point over, as I have the utmost empathy for the Spanish people. However I agree with Simon, we must stop fuelling the hate.
My message for the terrorists is, dont bomb us..... we are the victims here also, perhaps we can vote our government out without you having to kill us.
ok, we know that field service, for the most part is unproductive.
that is, very few newly baptised jw's are from converts.
that means that most dubs make babies, indoctrinate them, and they become dubs.

OK, from my personal perspective....
I am Third Generation, My grandparents were witnesses in the 1940's.... so from this couple what do we have.... They had Four Children, all left, two came back. Of these four... 2/4 = 50% staying.
1/ My Parent, Left, married out of the 'truth', spouse came into 'truth', had three children of whom only one has stayed. 1/3 = 33% staying.
2/ Sibling #1, Married in 'truth', had two children, entire family left in late 1960's. 0/2 = 0%
3/ Sibling #2, Left already accounted for.
4/ Sibling #3, Left, married out of 'truth', returned, had three children, spouse came into 'truth'. One stayed, one left, one DF. 1/3 = 30%
So in total from this one JW couple, including spouses upto the second generation we have the following:-
In Out %
2 Grandparents 2 0 100
4 2nd Gen Children 2 2 50
4 2nd Gen Spouses 2 2 50
6 Grandchildren (raised in) 2 4 33
Total 8 8 50
This does not account for 4 Grandchildren raised outside, or take account of the 4th Generation, who are getting to the decision age.
Perhaps we should run a survey...?

well, last week at my mother in law?s meeting, a letter was read, which was subsequently relayed to us (and any other heathens who might have transgressed the list of holy hotels).
I recently had a tour operator request we quote prices including a $4 per room, per night rebate. I would not be at all surprised if the WT people do the same thing. The Society being a very large booker could probably demand a much higher rebate if they wanted to.
Hmmmm now I think we are getting to the knub of the issue....

generally, i never get depressed and am fairly resilient when having to cope with change.
all my life, i suddenly stopped everything last december.
I think we have all experienced this at whatever age. You will make many new friendships some shorter term, some for ever. Network with the friends you have now and gradually you will settle into a crowd that you feel comfortable with. (as opposed to having a bunch of people at the hall who you 'have' to be friends with)
In a few years time you will look back and see just how far you have come.
the letter the un posted on their site regarding the wt affiliation with the un is great news!
kudos to everyone who made this possible by taking the time to write the un!
although most on jwd see this as a big victory, most have expressed that there will probably be many active jw's who will find it suspicious or will turn a blind eye.

personally, the latest trend in my area is school bus driver as well as school bus monitor.
i can think of six jws who drive school buses and two who are monitors.

i'm 24 years old 5'7" and i weigh 285. i'm a big girl!
so i am currently going through the process of having gastric bypass surgery.
In fact now I come tho think of it my dad used to do this while I was in as well. When I left school there were jobs he was against as it involved travel and in his opinion it would "take me out of the truth".
Same with University, friends outside, types of music, anything really.
If the "Truth" is so good, then why should anything take you away from it. Its a parents thing I suppose that they feel they have failed in all their children are not Pioneers or something.

Ohhh My dad does that all the time. Whenever I talk about new things I am doing, things going well at work, developing relationships with girlfriends, his comment is always....
"Well you are getting yourself deeper into the 'world' and it will stop you coming back into the "truth"..."
I have to tell him that I do not believe it is the "Truth" and that I am not coming back and he should be glad life is going well.
I think a lot of witnesses have a real problem seeing ex witnesses doing well outside, they much prefer it if you ended up in some alley somewhere mainlining heroin then they can come rescue you or nod their heads at how evil the world is. I think there is latent envy somewhere along the line.
Your Mom should want you to meet someone good and have a normal healthy relationship.
