Is there anyone on this site that has been a member of the HLC and can give more information about the level of consent? Or would they even know?

Blood, the US Army, the US Navy and the Watchtower Society
by OrphanCrow inthe watchtower society blood doctrine is intricately linked to clinical trials in blood technology.
the wts deliberately changes and manipulates the blood doctrine in order to fill the requirements for medical testing in the field of blood technology.
it has been happening since the start of the blood ban and has continued for the last 70 years, leaving untold numbers of dead and maimed jws in the wake of the societys quest for everlasting life here on earth.. .

Guilt, Regret or Denial
by game1914over inin your time of being a witness, have you witnessed a jw experience death of a loved one due to refusal of a blood transfusion?
i know this is an extremely sensitive subject and can reopen deep emotional wounds.
if you're willing to share, i am interested.

I had dated a guy (JW) in the early '90s who was in a terrible car crash, and when I went to the hospital, the HLC were hovering in the waiting room like a bunch of vultures. I got the feeling they were there to enforce the no blood policy rather than provide support.
He survived, life went on and we went our separate ways. Two years later I got a phone call that he had been in another car accident but this time had passed away after refusing a blood transfusion. It was really upsetting. To this day, people will say that he died from a car accident rather than from lack of a blood transfusion. Cognitive dissonance at its finest.

The same thing happened to me when I moved into my current house years ago. The neighbors were mormons. They were extremely nice people and we still keep in touch with them after they moved away.
When we first moved in, we were overwhelmed with home improvements, so they sent the missionaries to us because they need so much community service time we were informed. A couple of nice kids came over and really did help us out. The missionaries also preached a little, but they mostly just enjoyed being able to be normal kids who could listen to the radio at our house (they're not allowed to on their own) and eat a home cooked meal.
Just enjoy your neighbors if they are really nice people. We still visit with our former neighbors at their new home. We just have to grit our teeth at the constant background noise of Fox news! But, people are people and I feel badly for them because they are stuck in a cult just like we were. Look at ex-mormon websites and you'll see lots of similarities.

They actually call them governing body Helpers? That sounds so juvenile, like being snack helper in kindergarten.

I feel disheartened, confused, betrayed, depressed and angry.
by NickJ999 inlike many i probably hesitated to post anything.
i've been a baptized witness for 21 years.
i was raised roman catholic, went to a parochial school for 8 years, public high school, the usaf for 4 years during vietnam, got my first good job after the military in 1974 at age 25, got married in 1976, went to pentecostal, baptist churches for awhile, and was presbyterian for 8 years during my first marriage that ended after 10 years.

Nick, I hear you on the Economy. My husband and I wonder what kind of a life our son will have. I'm wondering, though, where rents are as low as $550 to $750 a month? It's $1200 at a minimum where I live! And people fuss about raising the minimum wage!
What's frustrating is that our son will probably have to work harder and probably have less. We have already planned that he will live with us after he finishes college. Around here, even a college graduate will have difficulty supporting themselves with a starter job.
But, that doesn't mean the End is near. The Depression in the '30s was by all accounts much worse and here we are in the 21st century. The economy waxes and wanes over time. But, it can be frustrating to think about when we were always taught the world would end soon and we wouldn't have to deal with it anymore.
Glad you're enjoying your grandaughter. Little ones have a way of brightening up your life.

Year 3: Personal Experiences
by Londo111 inhttp://youtu.be/nnnabt9x5lm?list=plynx0om_bmgdobkrzev2tax1jzdquagy8.
this is my third year since i signed up on jwn and i wanted to do something a bit different--a slight unmasking of sorts and greet everyone face to face.
even with the help of a few notes, this is rambling, raw, and by no means the best personal experience video out there.

It's humble guys like you that the Org chews up and spits out. And it's their loss, obviously, after meeting you.
Thanks for posting this video. Loved it.

My Breaking Point -- 11/9/14
by game1914over ini have enjoyed reading your comments during the past four years.
deep down inside, i have always been agnostic.
the first few chapters in genesis are contradictory and differing.. no one has ever been able to answer my question: "why was satan ever created?".
