Oh my, can you say creepy 10 times fast?
Sure, I would drive 25 miles out of my way to catch a train on the other side of town...NOT!
I wonder how many will just say no to this stupidity?

.. if armageddon is "imminent", why is wt focused on sight-seeing, entertainment, travel, etc.
instead of preaching and saving people??.

all hell has broken loose at my house!
the wife is pissed [ i did not turn in the "voluntary tithe" slip .
if she doesn't go, then she cannot do x event tomorrow.
That's more emotional abuse than just emotional blackmail. She told her to go and then not to go with x event on the line. Then she mistreats her on the way until the poor girl cries and then tells her NO CRYING!?! That's abuse. From her point of view her mother feels emotionally unstable and that's scary for her. I remember feeling that way because my mother behaved just like that when I was a teenager, too.
I hope you will step in and make sure she gets to attend her event. Let her know that you understand that she wasn't feeling well and she needed to rest. Meetings are not more important than your health. She will understand that you had her best interest at heart while her mother didn't. Ask her if she's noticed her mom getting a little crazy about the meetings. Ask her why she thinks that is so. Then, listen! Her response will let you know the direction you should go.
skunks underneath the house....
We ASSUMED it was a feral cat and that turned out to be correct, but we didn't know what it was at first. It could have been any kind of animal with the hellish kinds of sounds we heard.
It seems like maybe folks on here have never lived anywhere where they've had to see squalid conditions and suffering on a daily basis. It was a nasty place. The animal kingdom suffered, too.
Yes, imagine living in a place where there is suffering all around and you're helpless to stop it all. Day in and day out. You learn to protect your own.
You can't fix the city. You can only move out.
Now my one original cat and my new orange tabby live in a nice house on a nice street with a nice little yard. There are sunny windows to sit in and a big yard for chasing rabbits and squirrels. Mr. Orange tabby shocked himself the other day when he caught a bug and you should have seen his eyes when it jumped away and he caught it again. So proud of himself. And I'm always out there with him so he doesn't run into the street. It's a good life. This is what I've always wanted for my cats and what I've always wanted for my kid and myself and my husband.
That's why I live here and not in the city anymore.
skunks underneath the house....
Magnum,
Aggressive behavior like entering an unknown home and fighting with the resident cats.
I was worried about them spreading disease to MY CATS not to me, silly.
It was a dangerous situation, not least because cats can get severely injured in a cat fight and suffer from infections.
It's almost as if you don't believe the violence of the fighting in my house. I was there. It was vicious. My cats went to the vet the next day.
I AM the crazy cat lady and nobody, whether human or feline, messes with my cats!
skunks underneath the house....
Feral cats are dangerous in behavior and dangerous because they are unvaccinated and carry disease. The WORST thing to do is feed them because then you will have every feral cat in the neighborhood living at your house.
The most impressive thing I've seen regarding feral cats is trapping, spaying or neutering and then rereleasing them into their original territory to both reduce the population and improve their health. However, this happened 20 years ago and the city I lived in did nothing other than trap and euthanize. This cat got another go at it.

Would Animal Control come and remove them for you?
I once had to call Animal Control because I left the basement door open one night when we were living in the city and a big old alley cat invited himself in. We woke up to the biggest mess of hissing and fighting in the middle of the night cause Mr. Alleycat decided to fight my two resident cats for the privilege of living there.
We called Animal Control and told them we had some kind of a mangy beast howlin and yowlin in our house fighting with our cats and we were afraid to go outside the bedroom to break it up.When they laughed, my husband decided to man up and go take care of business armed with a fire extinguisher and holding the ironing board in front of him like a shield. He made his way out to the living room and chased the thing behind the sofa. He figured if he could open the front door without getting attacked, he might convince the thing to leave out the door once and for all and that would be the end of it.
Well, he made his move and jumped to grab the doorknob. He opened it up and aimed the fire extinguisher at the creature for convincing. The alleycat shot out the door with my husband straight after him shooting off the fire extinguisher as he ran out the door into the street. The sun was just starting to come up when Animal Control pulled up and there in the middle of the street, a cloud of dust still swirling around him, stood my husband in his underpants with his weapon still drawn. He put the fire extinguisher down and sheepishly told the lady from Animal Control, "Thank you for coming ma'am, but I took care of it myself."
I think the moral of that story is don't do any animal wrangling that Animal Control is willing to do for you. And also, possibly, always wear more than just your drawers if you try to do it yourself.
i have seen many witnesses with 4,5,6,7 kids.
no problem with that.
they are mostly loving families but today i experianced the birth of my son.. the emotions of my wife... the pain... the fear... the hope combined with the joy of the birth and seeing my wife reaction when she held the baby was well balanced.. .
Congrats! Cofty is correct. What little sleep you get will be filled with dreams of getting more sleep.
Also, childbirth is a horrendous experience which I only experienced once before I realized that was enough. It wasn't magical or mystical. It just was plain old miserable.
Children rob you of sleep, time with your significant other and money. And they don't even bother to smile for the first month.
But, that first smile is so precious!
today my extended family lost someone much too young.
my 18 month old cousin bryler fell in a swimming pool yesterday and was missing for several minutes before he was discovered.
his mom and grandmother and several other family members performed cpr and tried to revive him while waiting on the ambulance (which took quite a while as they live in the backwoods of southern oklahoma).
So sorry to hear this. This is just beyond tragic. My son was a very active toddler and this was always one of my worst fears.
My condolences to your family was well.
never was a jw, but been here long enough to have made some friends and respect opinions.. retired in 2004, lived in cyprus 2005-2010. back here in wales since then.. just back from a holiday in france (most recent of many).
love the country, the lifestyle, can get by in the language.. just seen an advert for a country estate (british-owned) they want someone to live on site, do a bit of handyman stuff, etc., look after (mainly brit) holiday visitors in return for zero rent (only utitlties).
family would be abe to come and stay for free.
It's lovely. That might be quite a bit of caretaking with the orchard. Would they have the necessary equipment?
I was also thinking about renting out your existing place so not only would it be free, but you'd have some positive cash flow.
It does seem like a great adventure!
