Sometimes I wonder if I could ever give my parents a ride to the hall in their old age and dependence.
I don't think I could. It would be like sharing in their sins...
ok, im gonna try makin this as short as i can, cuz im still pissed.. my father is elderly, needs me to drive him to meetings.
it takes 30 minutes to drive there, so i stay for the meeting, i dress in slacks and a nice shirt ..in respect for pops.
going back home , would be pissing in the wind.....i would just have to turn around 20 minutes after getting there.. well elders asked me to the back room, and said im doing a good job taking care of my father, and that it looks like im well on my way to getting reinstated soon....wtf???.

Okay, brother johnson.
Go get lost in a sea of semantics that only serve to distract you from the big picture.
Watchtower takes advantage of their non-employees, not only treating them without the high standards of God's true organization, but worse than even a worldly corporation would, not giving severence pay or access to unemployment insurance.
I hope you're never an employee in a company that just gets rid of you after 4 years with no warning just because they think someone else might be able to do it better. Or, they get rid of you after 25 years because you just can't work as hard as you used to. Or, better yet, they get rid of you right before you are eligible to retire because they don't want to get stuck with paying your pension or retiree health care.
Most of these things are illegal, or at the least, unethical. But "God's Organization" gets away with doing all of these things simply because they are a religious order. Oh, and they don't have to pay you either because you sign a vow of poverty.
Sounds like a great place to work! And if you were ever there, I have no idea why you didn't stay!

Fisherman, fisherman, fisherman.
No, lay offs do not mean there is an expectation to be called back to work.
Lay offs are when people are just let go. Usually for reductions in force.
Maybe you are thinking of furloughs?
But, it's okay because bethelites can just apply for unemployment insurance. No, oh wait, you can't.
Or how about a few weeks' severence pay so you can get back on your feet? Oh, no, wait, they don't do that either.
So what exactly is it that keeps the Watchtower from being the vultures that they are behaving like?
so, on another thread, about pluto, grreat teacher said something that speaks to my feelings about religon.
"i've kinda been sad since pluto has been demoted to dwarf planet.. you talk about 9 planets and all the little kids at school will correct you real quick and tell you that now there are only 8 planets in the solar system!".
nothing in the universe has changed but the opinion of men.
How did I miss this thread?
I found it really freeing when I finally realized I didn't have to have an opinion on every little thing. Some things just aren't even worth expending thought over.
What's my opinion on whether bridge tolls should be raised to cover a deficit elsewhere?
Guess what? I don't have to have an immediate opinion and I can choose to just let it go and not devote any more thought to it. After all, we all have a limited daily cognitive capacity and I don't have to waste further energy on it if I choose not to.
Maybe I can instead think up a creative menu for dinner or save mental energy for the demands of my teenager.
My point is that you decide what to think about. You're in charge of your thoughts. You decide where and upon what to spend your mental and emotional energy.
And sometimes saying, "I don't know," is not only a valid, but a purposeful response.
This is why when they ask," paper or plastic?" I always just say, "It doesn't matter."

Fisherman, do you realize that you're making yourself sound like a dick? No?
Well let me clear that up then. You normally sound like a buzzing cult drone, but this time you've moved right on to making yourself look like a big ol' johnson.
i have just found out that my brother (who was one of a bunch that shared this login) has died.. he and his wife were living in another country where they once pioneered.
i didn't see him that often.. such an empty feeling.....
hi guys,.
i might go to the meeting.
i stopped going in my heart properly in nov 2013, but i went to a couple of meetings to support a love one that was df'd and tried to teach them a little ttatt.. now another df'd loved one is coming to see me today and will likely encourage me to try and get ri'd, and i want to support her.
I completely agree with JWdaughter and undertheradar.
Going to even one meeting could have very negative consequences with your children.
It's wonderful to be a supportive friend (and I still think you could be such), but I think you've got to be a mum first and foremost this time.
i originally wrote this blog a few years ago, but yesterday a friend that is struggling to decide whether or not she will tell her family that she no longer accepts the jehovahs witness religious doctrine reminded me of it so i am re-sharing (with updates).. its not always completely freeing to come out of the closet (as an atheist in my case) and i wanted her to understand that.. i had a very strange realization recently: i dont know what its like to be someones adult child.
my parents didnt get the privilege of seeing me come of age.
i didnt get walked down the aisle when i got married.
Hey, if it helps, I'm proud of you!
When push came to shove, my parents decided not to shun. But, it still hurts that after spending years of tears, toil and money to finally get a college degree, a first generation college student, they just don't seem to understand how big of an accomplishment it is.
They say they're proud, but then they bash higher education out of the other side of their mouth. It's actually an insult and it hurts a lot.
just relaxing with my morning coffee enjoying looking at the pictures fipper shared of the camping trip when the dreaded knock came.
of course the dogs beat me to the door followed by my daughter trying to catch them, she looks through the giant peep hole and waves me away saying "its them.
" i almost just walked away from the door when i saw the sweet face of a 5/6 year old little boy with his mom and dad and couldn't resist talking to them.. i opened the door and smiled and said jehovah's witnesses?
Well done. I hope he does ask his elders. And I hope he asks if there's any ACCUSED molesters because otherwise, the elders might feel free to lie to his face and say "no," if the guy was never prosecuted. (That is, if there is one there.)
Did you give the little guy ice cream money?
let the merging begin!!!.
