You gotta be sh*tting me? "Historic Event?" Crying over modern-English bibles, sent from Jehovah himself? Adding Jehovah's name 6 more times where there is no indication it should be? If they wanted to truly revise these "truths" then they should have made his name the more commonly accepted, correct Yahweh instead of the old incorrect hybrid "Jehovah."

Either way, these people are bat-sh*t crazy. Getting all dressed up in business attire on a Saturday afternoon to sit in a convention hall and listen with baited breath for the "historical" release of a.......Bible? Wow, what excitement!!!! Then, crying over it like it's a gift from God Himself?

I really had a laugh at the reproductions of other "historical" events like CT Russell, DaJudge Rutherford, and Knorr. Why not use the real audio of those loons? They had much more a crazy snake-oil sounding pitch to their voices, that's for sure! Who outside of JW's even know anything about such Trumphet blasting historical events? I'd wager to say that alot of younger JW's don't even know who those guys where or what they did that was so "historical". Talk about being full of yourself (and sh*t). I mean, they really act like they are the center of the known universe, don't they? They are kings.....kings of their own sh*t-hill. They can have it.

Watching this video from a now outsiders perspective really shows me how creepy and weird these loons are. It's just an exercise in creature worship and controlling the masses. Gah!!

to recap my story, i am married to a daed ex-jw.

this last year, i had to deal with a bunch of jw nonsense at a funeral for one of my in-laws.

even though i am a methodist, the whole thing really left me aghast and rattled my faith.

Another re-actionary, instead of pro-active, WT article. I love how your last quote talks of these ones as possibly having "dependant children." No sh*t??? Well golly-gee Governing Body, you're the ones that CREATED that situation when you outright forbid anyone from getting an education that would enable them to achieve a well-paying career in which to support themselves, instead of just a low-paying "job" at McD's or washing windows. How can the "youth" (aged 18-30's) afford NOT to live and mooch off of their aging parents when you have encouraged such idiocy and dependancy, all so that they can Pioneer and knock on doors of empty homes to peddle literature that is now Old Light, for an Old System of Things that by your continual decrees should not even yet still be in existance?

The incredible gall these clueless Overlords of Faith display is just incredible. And as usual, whatever you are doing is NEVER ENOUGH, the one constant message of the WT that doesn't change is this: You are not doing enough, giving enough, or slaving away enough - EVER. And as usual, the beatings will continue until morale improves.

Know what would have made this video more "happifying?" If it were filmed in black and white. Then, it would have that creepy 1984 (the movie) auro to it. I agree with the above, this is getting more Jehovah-Cult like every day. The organization this, the organization that. When that guy was on stage talking about Moses and Joshua and "the organization" back then, I was like WTF? YHWH didn't have no stinkin' "Organization" back then. He spoke directly to you via a burning bush or Angels, and THAT is all the proof you needed of His "Will." No Awake! or Watchtower magazines required. These people are no different than Scientologists. The Governing Body might as well be proclaiming, "Go forth and spread literature, and send back the money!!!"

Interesting movie trivia fact about new WT Headquarters location

here is a weird fact: as i was watching the official wt video about the new headquarters project (can be seen on jw.org), i recognized the building they were tearing down, the front shot of it.

because this building was used exclusively in the 1986 movie, "the manhattan project".

it's kind of a cult-classic favourite movie from my youth that i still watch.

Maybe this sounds stupid, but here's just (1) more thing that the WT has ruined for me, a MOVIE ! Now, every time I watch this classic, I'll be reminded of how the WT Cult bought the land and tore down the buildings from the movie. Ugh, it's like you can't ever really escape this crap. Also, I'm kind of one of those movie buff weirdo types that visits movie set locations. It's weird, I know. For instance, I did everything that Ferris Bueller did (ok, minus the parade float) when I first visited Chicago. I've been to other movie set locations as well. I had planned to visit this site when I finally got up to Ithaca to visit the finger lakes (I live in PA) but now that idea is ruined by these whacko nutcases. Screw you WT. By the way, this video is creepy. At the end of the segment where Geoffery Jackson is speaking and he talks about how this place will be like it is in Paradise after this System of Things comes to an end, I was really creeped out. He really had a glee in his eye and sounded crazy. It's also creepy how they keep referring to everyone up there as "The Family". This has "Cult" terminology written all over it. **Shudder** I wonder, what would a normal, regular type Christian think of hearing such crazy talk? It must sound really foreign and creepy to normal people. The workers (RBC volunteers) they interviewed looked like they were high on Jehovah's glory, or SOMETHING. All so excited to be doing this for JEHOVAH. Seriously? God doesn't need these buildings, the old men at the top do to retire in! How about building some soup kitchens, orphanages, hospitals, and nursing homes to actually HELP people? Maybe then Jesus and YHWH might actually care? Getting all glass-eyed and giddy about building a compound in the middle of nowhere that benefits NO ONE except yourselves? Shut my mouth!!!

Here is a weird fact: As I was watching the official WT video about the new Headquarters project (can be seen on JW.org), I recognized the building they were tearing down, the front shot of it. Why's that? Because this building was used exclusively in the 1986 movie, "The Manhattan Project". It's kind of a cult-classic favourite movie from my youth that I still watch. It stars a young Cynthia Nixon (Sex & the City), John Lithgow, as well as Christopher Collet in probably his best role. If you get into the WTBTS's video a few minutes, they show the one dilapidated building. Now below, is a still frame from the movie. Same front entrance, façade, windows. This makes sense, as the movie itself (school scenes, etc) were filmed in Patterson, NY, NYC, and Ithaca. All throughout the movie you see scenes from this location and surrounding area. Towards the end of the movie especially we see more of the exterior of this building. I highly recommend the movie some rainy day.

I'd also like state how bat-sh*t crazy Mark Sanderson is for claiming this is a "historical event" like when the WT moved from Pittsburgh to NYC. It reminds me of when Rutherford had those conventions in Cedar Point, OH, and actually claimed they were some of the trumpet blasts of Revelation. (Ref: Revelation Climax book) Seriously? No one gives a crap! I was also disgusted by the fact that they were claiming God Himself was directing them to move, POSITIVE he told them to move. This is like Jim Jones claiming he was directed to move to Guyana. Creepy indeed.

An Interesting Thing Happened at the Meeting Yesterday...

this was reported to me by an attendee: during the watchtower, a brother commented that "we shouldn't question things that we don't have the full facts about, such as why is it so expensive to have an assembly at the grantville assembly hall?

it would be far cheaper to rent our own space to have an assembly than it is to use grantville.

we don't have all the facts so we don't know the reasons why and it isn't our place to question".

I loath Grantville. How many long summer weekends of the 1980's and early 1990's did I spend wasting away in that dreary mortuary, instead of watching cartoons or playing happily outside? Too many to recall, and all for "Old Light" that doesn't mean jack shit today. Do you remember the orange carpeting? Are you old enough to remember the piano and a lady actually playing it? How about food service? The food was the only good part, but my parents were always too cheap to eat there so packed their own crap and ruined it. I take that back, I sometimes had bag of fruit, a pudding, a danish, and a Shasta. GAG. Ohh...Ohh!! How about that neat baptismal pool? It has the nature scene and the frogs with water spitting out their mouthes and my memory is so good that I can recall the SMELL of that water and also the iron of the railing around it. Both my parents and grandmother were baptized in that very pool in 1982 or 1983. I still have they pictures of them being dunked, except now they (much like the older generations) have passed away and I'm 34 years old. It wasn't the same after they remodeled it - it's now WORSE.

Why do they continue to make the R&F pay for a building that's 40 years old, and has been paid for many times over? Easy, it's a money-grubbing CULT.
