^^^^^^ Stella!!!! Steeeellllaaa!!!!
Classic, lol!!
i was listning to a song by ian dury " what a waste" such perfect and apt lyrics to explain my witness life.... anybody got any songs that explain there watchtower existence?.
.
- "My Friend of Misery", AND "Unforgiven" - Metallica
- "Of Mice & Men" - Megadeth (Dave Mustaine had some dealings growing up in the JW religion)
- "Comfortably Numb" - Pink Floyd (many Pink Floyd songs ring true I believe like Money, etc) How CAN you have any pudding if you don't eat your meat? lol. Sounds like something you'd be berated for by a GB Member before a Bethel breakfast. lol.
Many others. Good thread.

i've tried taking the slow, patient approach with my wife.
i believe i first posted here about 13 months ago about my wife.. we've always had good communication and could talk endlessly about philosophy, neuroscience, sociology and then when i learned the ttatt, i clammed up a bit about spiritual things.
i'd always been fairly liberal, suggesting other alternative ideas, but then i told my wife about the un/ngo scandal (i ran across the guardian story doing a talk as an ms, lol!
It sounds like not only is she dealing with her own cognative disodence, but also trying to self-sabotage her marriage as the Cult has programmed her that if you aren't JW's, you will end up divorced, alone, and on drugs. So in a way, the cult has programmed into it's followers a sort of self-fullfilling prophecy as it were. To be out of the cult, happy, and with your marriage in tact and a belief in God? ERROR....does not compute. Self-destruct in 3.....2....1.....
She needs counciling, or at least to read Steve Hassaan's books...ALL of them. I'd hand her his 1st one the next time she starts in on the guilt trip and/or wanting to talk about your feelings on spirituality. Tell her to soak that up, then you'll talk.

i wouldn't be surprised if one day the wt says we are in the 1,000 year reign now.
show scriptures how nothing is shown that people are living forever or not dying during the 1,000 year reign.
scriptures how the finale of gog of magog in ezekiel is by fire coming from heaven to consume the armies and how it was to show the world his return, etc.
Ummmmmm.......last I heard, we ARE in the 1,000 year reign of Christ. Have been since 1914. That's what 1914 is all about, how Jesus took up His heavenly throne and has been ruling as King, - Invisibly!!!! We are 100 years in by JW standards.
After the Big A, I guess there is another 1,000 years of teaching and mankind reaching perfection, before Satan is let out of the Abyss to "test" the faithful one last time, and anyone being led astray by him will be burned in an almighty, eternal destruction in the Lake of Fire. At least, that's what I was always taught.

i remember being at the assembly in 1988?
when this was released.
everyone was so excited that we finally had a simple explanation of revelation with pictures.
What I always thought was ludicrious, was the trumphet blasts equalling some obscure conventions at a theme park location in Cedar Point, Ohio. The audacity to proclaim that the nonsense proclomations that J.F. Rutherford was spewing at that time was the equivalent to the trumphet blasts mentioned in the Bible was ludicrious in the extreme. The middle of Ohio, in the mid-1930's you say? Not even a proclomation at a world event like the "World's Fair" or some place or event truly recognized in a large city like Paris or London or something? An obscure Ohio theme park pavilion is like one of the trumphet blasts of Revelation they say? MY A**!!!
Cedar Point wasn't/isn't even a town, it was pavilion area with a small theme park. It's a roller coasters dream spot and resort today, with no mention if the trumphet blast was even heard back in the late 1920's, mid-1930's. This incredible display of GALL was too much even for me to swallow as a teenager while going over this messed up book for the 3rd time. I couldn't swallow it. The one about the pioneers of Jehovah being the locusts plague on the earth was too much as well. Oh, and about how the imprisonment of Rutherford and his cronies was somehow forseen in the bible? Ha....ha.....HAHAHAHA! Rutherford was a drunken azz! No wonder they tossed him in the drunk tank for a long haul, Ceasar wanted him to sober up!!!
How could you sell such nonsense at the door? You couldn't, plain and simple. Any normal person visiting the KingDumb Hell and hearing such ludicrious proclamations would think they just entered a nut house. And the artwork.......right out of a Stephen King or John Carpenter nightmare! Gah! I was 3 yrs old when this book came out.....guess how many nightmares that wild harlot riding the wild beast gave me? This book combined with the "Live Forever" book is pure JW embarrassment.

The Date: July 3-6th, 1986. (a hot 4th of July weekend) This was the "Divine Peace" District Convention.
Location: The Capital Centre, Landover, Maryland. USA.
My age at the time: 6 yrs old.
The WT Representative giving the keynote address: None other than VP of WatchTower, Milton G. Henschel
What I remember about this District Convention: My poor father driving us from south-central PA in the sweltering heat on 4th of July weekend in incredible traffic down I-83, I-295 beltway instead of being able to watch fireworks. I think I had my usual lemon-lime Shasta, an apple danish, choc pudding cup, and fruit bag. I also remember being miserable and fidgety (as usual, I was considered "hyper" back then) I wish I could remember old Milton giving his keynote address that Saturday, but chances are I feel asleep just listening to the old Kaiser. I also remember staying at some crummy, overpriced, WT-enforced hotel that had a crappy effeciency room and no pool. Ick.
The Irony: 1986 was nearly 30 years ago now. Old M.G. Henschel is DEAD. My parents are all DEAD. The Capital Centre is DEAD. It was torn down and replaced with a mall in 2002, 12 whole years ago! Divine Peace in the form of God's Paradise on earth is STILL not here. Instead, TOMO III is blathering on about the all important spiritual matters like tight pants and homo-inspired socks. Apparently, at this convention of 15,177 attendants, 90 people were baptized. Now I ask you, can you even imagine that number (90+ people!!!!!) being baptized at a USA convention TODAY? I think a few International Conventions this year got those numbers and more, but can you imagine a DC pulling that number today? Not happening.
What hasn't changed: Fear mongering and guilt tripping from God's "one true" religion, as JW's can NEVER do enough, or GIVE enough time and money to this Cult. Yep, that's still going strong!
Here's a news article I found on google from a local paper which the JW's probably paid for in order to pat themselves on the back for a job well done:

shouldn't this be titled:.
why are we observing the lords evening meal again(wasn't 2014 supposed to be the very last memorial - we really mean it this time?)?.
.
At least they got the title correct. JW's merely "observe" the Lord's Evening Meal, they do not PARTICIPATE or PARTAKE OF THE EMBLEMS, which Jesus Himself commanded His followers to do in rememberance of Him, and also if they wanted everlasting life. I noticed a long time ago that Jesus didn't say, "Only those of the 144K do this in remembrance of Me," - NO! He said that EVERYONE should do this in remembrance of Him. The JW's merely observe their Governing Body OverLords partaking, and actually deny the emblems of Jesus body. What an eye-opener it was for me when this realization washed over me. The JW's are truly spiritually sick in the head.....one might even say they are "spiritually diseased."

please help me with this: can you think of a single mind-controlling cult that isn't anti-gay???
it seems to me that virtually all such groups preach against homosexuality.
jws.....mormons....moonies.....jim jones.....david koresh.....the catholic church.....radical islam.....russian orthodox church......scientology......lyndon larouche...to name just a few.
Umm......I can think of (2) right off the top of my head.
1.) Jim Jones, People's Temple. It is well documented now that Jim Jones was bisexual. Some of the lone-survivors and even his own son have said that Jim Jones liked to give and recieve anal sex with other men, encouraged it, asked for it. I've seen it talked about in several documentaries from survivors. It was one more way he abused and controlled people thru sex and shame. This on top of the religious, psychological, and drug abuse.
2.) Heaven's Gate. Applegate was a wide-eyed, cultist FREAK. He "deadened his member" (neutured) so as to not have it further distract him in his ministry, due to the fact that he was a closet homosexual. He encouraged others to sterlize themselves and become androginous as well.

literally, a text message to my husband from one of his "friends".
he also wrote, "it's in her hands.
it's her move now.
Get a restraining order against your husbands "friend", then while you're at it, file for divorce and obtain a restraining order against HIM as well. This is going nowhere, and leading you to the mental ward.
Your entire situation with your husband and the JW's is absolutely TOXIC. You need to remove yourself and your children from these looney cult members.
