Yeah, I thought of that as well. Imagine Brother Dufos Elder coming up to me after the meeting, and asking why I have an iPad instead of the Bible and the WT Magazine in my hand.
My clever response? "Well, Brother Dufos think of the MONEY I am saving the Organization by them not having to print out the magazine for me! I just download the WatchTower from THEIR official WT website and I can highlight my WT with this app right here....."

And I agree, if they would make EVERY PUBLICATION downloadable, they'd have to print less and less, saving them TONS of freakin $$$$!!! They appear to be clueless though.
I remember reading on here some older articles that were thoroughly bashing TV, like in the 40, 50's, etc. It was from SATAN!! Imagine my surprise in 1996 when the CO's monthly allowance increase came up to vote and one of the reasons he needed more was because his CABLE TV bill had increased. This was during the service meeting and my mother and I were fit to be tied!! We NEVER had cable our whole lives, but the CO could! My mother bought a standard cable package the next week in defiance. Fuggin' hypocrites!!!!

but for whatever reason, i had not seen this actual quote from the dc talk (that or had not paid much attention to it until now).
seeing it in print really brought home how desparate they are to try to hang on to 1914 in whatever way they can.
I'd LOVE to pull up the cover of the May 15th WT on my iPad with the heading, "1914, The Generation That Will Not Pass Away" right when they are reading the paragraph on the expanding generation doctrine. That would be classic!!!
I am 30 years old, I was born in 1979. 1975 is just about unknown to anyone in my age group in the congregations. However, it was RAMMED DOWN OUR THROATS about the 1914 Generation not passing away. To anyone with a thinking brain, this is huge. It was PROOF of the urgency of The End, and was used as proof at the doors while we were in service during our formative years of the 1980's. Instead of being at home watching Saturday morning cartoons or practicing baseball like NORMAL kids our own age, we were instead out in service peddling these magazines and using the 1914 date as proof of the end. Don't underestimate my generation's bullshit meter. Remember, 70% of us left once we turned 18 - that's 7 out of 10 witness youth!!!!
This just might get the 30-40 year old segment to call BULLSHIT!! Just as the year 1976 coming to pass did for a "Generation" of Witnesses who left around 1980, and also for a "Generation" who left after the 1925 fiasco.
History does indeed repeat itself, and I think we are in a stage of not growth, but of DEPARTURE for the WT Organization. They know it too, even though they pad the figures. Why else do you think we are seeing so much control in the publications? Seperate publications for Witnesses only??? At least part of the GB know the jig is up, and they are using fear as main control tactic, because god knows logic isn't it when it comes to their publications.
If I were sitting in a Kingdom Hall on June 13th and those paragraphs were read, I'd have to stand up and say, "Checkmate". The jig is truely up with this "Generation" teaching. It is a major doctrine, and I don't think people are just going to swallow it all down nice-nice. This confirms what for a false prophet they are.
You know, my father died 11 years ago. He told me on his death bed not to leave Jehovah or Christ Jesus. He said to draw close to THEM, not some Organization or The Society. ^^^^^ Undercover, you got that right - it IS the wave of the future, and instead of embracing it the Governing Body is making themselves look like fools!! I don't have an iPhone, or even a cell phone, and haven't in 4 years. Haven't missed it. With the isip and iwhistle app, I can make phone calls from my iPad, the very few I have to make. It is much more of a date planner, organizer, photo editor (photogene app is incredible) and everything else I need. Going to the grocery store? There's a grocery list app for that. GPS is and info at the touch of a button.
I have a pro digital camera, so again I couldn't care less about iPhone.

Instead of carrying one of those "Elder" briefcases (you all know what I mean!!!) you instead have one of those modern, 1" thick shiny aluminum briefcases. You sit down at the end of a row, and the only thing people see when you flick it open is the new Song Book and a slim leather folder. After the first song and opening prayer, you sit down and when everyone else whips out their bibles, you whip out your new 64GB iPad Wifi+3G. Then, you proceed to click on the "Bible App" and up flies the bible, for you to find scriptures in an instant, and to also zoom into and read as you please.
Can you imagine the stares? Imagine this is Sunday, and the WT study? No problem. You've downloaded the WT magazine straight from the official WT website, and highlighted it with some iPad app that can highlight PDF documents.
The lunch break? You can retrieve your Subway sub from the cooler of your car, return to the dining room, and plop down and browse photos of your trip to some foreign land, or better yet - look up JW stuff on the internet!! You'd be the most popular young adult in the whole place.
What the hell are they gonna say to you? I'm seriously thinking of doing this, and I think it would be especially hysterical during the talk about the dangers and temptations that Satan uses in the form of "technology." I mean, the irony would be hysterical.
Too bad there's not an App to magically wake everyone else up in the auditorium of mindless stupidity. Yeah, we need an App for that.

Just imagine if you will, if EVERYONE, if EVERY SINGLE JW, was a full-time pioneer. There would be no one working in order to hand in donations, and no money to support the CO, DO, and GB. They'd be bankrupt in a few short years.

after perusing through this article sent to us by our lurking jw friend- that's what i took away from this study article entitled " what jehovah's day will reveal " .
this article was printed to keep jw's alert to the alleged urgency of the times - just in case some get puzzled by the new extended overlapping generation theory and lose their sense of urgency.
i think the wt society is covering their backside here , doing possible damage control , and are very nervous about negative fallout in regards to how some jw's may respond to this extended " overlapping generation " theory being pushed.
Nice catch Flipper! This shit is something, isn't it? Here's a few questions for JW's to baffle them at the door or even during this study article? I'd love to raise my hand during the WT study and ask the following questions:
1.) If Armaggedon is "IMMINENT" as they keep proclaiming, then does that mean we are in the Great Tribulation now?
2.) If we are in the Great Tribulation, then has the King of the North been unmasked, as must happen per Revelation? Who is it then?
3.) When was "Peace and Security" declared? It must be declared first, then "sudden destruction will be INSTANTLY upon them."
4.) Has the Wild Beast turned on all religions, and if so, when did that start to occur?
Of course, asking any of these questions would probably get you thrown right out of the Kingdom Hall. Can you imagine the blank looks and stares during the WT study if you actually asked these questions? The stunned silence would be so thick you could cut it with a knife.
Also, I'd like to point out the numerous articles declaring that the F&DS aren't prophets, are even INSPIRED, (not even any more so then other sheep), yet in this article they claim the direction they give is coming directly from Jehovah God through Christ Jesus to THEM. How is that possible if they aren't a prophet or even INSPIRED? It's not. Do they think people believe YHWH writes on the wall and they just copy it down and print it? This is an amazing contradictory. It jumped out immediately to me, and I don't claim to be a bloodhound on these matters like say Blondie, Mary, Scully, etc. This is just an insane statement - that to question them is to question Jehovah God. Truly, they have elevated themselves above even Jesus.
And with the above, they have proven themselves to be the False Prophets Jesus spoke about - warned EVERYONE against - wolves in sheeps clothing who would came after Him and declare that He had already come, but was hidden (Invisible Presence anyone?) in secret chambers, who would do works in His name but beat down the Flock.
They've just proven to me what I've suspected for a long time now.....they have placed themselves in Jesus' place, taken over His authority, made false prophecies, and ruined so many lives it's unconscionable.
The F&DS are the apostates, not Christendom. For as many faults as Christendom has had throughout it's history and even present day, I don't think they compare to the audacity of the F&DS.
