What was the point of this book? What did we learn? We studied two books, 700+ pages, on the 66 chapters of Isaiah, for 3 years, and what was learned? That god chooses Jehovah witness in 1918?

The new children's book.
by l3gi0n ini was reading through the new kids book released at the assembly, and couldn't help but notice the chapter on birthdays.
it went on to explain that people were beheaded at birthdays, and that god never said to celebrate them.
it then quoted the catholic encyclopedia as stating "only sinners... make great rejoicings over the day on which they were born" .

So I looked in the catholic encyclopedia and it sure said that, kinda.
"of all the holy people in the Scriptures, no one is recorded to have kept a feast or held a great banquet on his birthday. It is only sinners (like Pharaoh and Herod
who make great rejoicings over the day on which they were born into this world below"
The point being that the only two recorded birthdays in the bible were those of sinners, not that only sinners celebrate birthdays.

How many want out?
by ignored_one inhow many jws are there currently in the wt who want out but are held back by things they feel they can't control?
i hear posters say that if they're still jws then they must believe it.
what about the people whose whole family are jws and don't have any outside friends to turn to or for whatever reason are relying on their jw family for financial help and know that if they expressed doubts they would be cut off no questions asked.

My wife wants out, she wont admit it, but i know. She is trying to get reinstated, but i know if it were not for the fact her family has cut her off, and all the years of programing she would not care.

by sandy in2 peter 2.
22there has befallen them the thing spoken of in the true proverb, the dog turns back to his own vomit, and, the sow is washed only to wallow again in the mire..
i remember when i was going over my baptismal questions the elder spouted off this scripture to me.. looking back at it i wonder how could he be such a moron!

When I was about 14, I was putting 60 hours a month in service, giving talks, and impromptu talks, donating… the whole nine yards. Anyways I told my mom I was going to get baptized. She asked me one question, “What are you giving up for Jehovah?” Well I said nothing. I didn’t have anything to give up. Well she got pissed, she said I could not get baptized if I were not going to give anything up for Jehovah… Well I never did get baptized.
This brings up another issues I have noticed with myself, and quite a few witness kids. The fact they are completely inept, They cant do a damn thing for them self’s, even when in there 20’s But that is another topic,

Why would JW's take money from someone they shun?
by unbeliever inthis happened a long time ago but i have a friend (da'd) who is shunned by his family.
his sister asked if he could give her money every month so she could continue to pioneer.
he is very well off and could afford to give her the money.

My wife was D/F, but her father calls from time to time, he has borrowed money, and not paid it back, he also asks for us to drive errands for him, that are a few hundred miles, from time to time, and he never turns downs the gifts I bring. It gets under my skin a little because the only time he calls is when he needs a favor. He is the PO, so I guess it is up to him to set the example.

WOW, Romans 11 really clears things up.. So the Nation of Israel is still god’s chosen people, and they will return to him, Also the gentiles can get in on gods new convent. I still don’t know if 1948 has any real significance, but I guess it doesn’t matter much.. One thing is for sure, the two Isaiah’s prophecies books are really off when compared to Romans 11.

Jesus dieing on the stake, is nothing more the product differentiation for religion. We are different from the rest, because we have a stake, and not a cross. Weather Jesus died on a stake or cross is completely ill relevant. What matters is that Jesus died, for our sins.
uhhh, yeah what ROOM 215 said.

Street work was always my Favorite, I would start at 5am, and walk up and down the shopping strip, with an old pioneer lady, and maybe one or two other people. So there were always 3 or 4 of us.. Our walk was only about ½ miles. But we took our time, we passed by the fronts of all the stores that would not be open for another 4 or 5 hours at an incredibility slow pace. Often the only vehicle in the parking lot was that of a street cleaner, and the driver never stopped to talk to us. After about 2 hours of this, it would be time for the donut break. Then we hit the laundry mat, That was the sweet spot, an instance 5 placements, and maybe a book, Of course no one was around, there was a 7-11 next door, but we didn’t stick around to talk to the customers. Next thing I knew it was time for service meeting, across town, and of course if I went I didn’t have to stop counting time. An easy 4 hours.
hehe, I knew I was only doing token service, but I don’t think any one I was working with did. I think they really thought they were helping the people in the world.

Ok I have been reading a little, It looks like the Jews started moving back in 1878, But in 1948 British control over the land ended, and Israel had declared its independence, and was acknowledged all in the same day, And then war started the next day, So it would seem that in fact The nation was born in only a day, and the Labor pain was later (the next day) as war always precedes the creation of a new nation, and in this case it came after.
