The thought of going to a Kingdom Hall or sometimes seeing JWs is enough to cause me some negative emotions.

Are there any instances of "GOD" order and/or condoning the rape of women in the bible?
by Black Man inthis came up recently with my dyed-in-the-wool jw pioneer mother, who swears up and down that there are no scriptural instances of this happening.
i seem to remember a couple passages, but can't remember where they were..

I don’t know if this has been brought out in a previous post but woman not engaged were not owned by anyone other then maybe her father. With that being said having sex with a young woman not engaged was not considered rape, even in the case where a man has sex with a young woman he only has to pay the father for his act and then can buy her.
The scriptures make it clear that woman were just property, and that is just plain sick!

Why did you leave?
by Fred Franztone inwe all have many reasons for leaving, most are doctrinal, some are emotional.
it's a religion which obsesses over factual proofs (counterfactual though they are) of its veracity rather than faith, so it's inevitable that most who leave will do so for intellectual reasons.
which doctrine above all others forced you to reconsider your position?

The blood doctrine, finding out about all the changes with blood fractions and them going so far as allowing cows red blood cells coupled with already knowing about how they banned organ transplants for 13 years then changed their minds.
Let’s not forget that this cows blood product is only available in certain places around the world, so some maybe able to get it and survived yet most won’t and will die.
These freaks are guilty of murder plain and simple!!

Did Ancient Jewish Worshipers Ever Make Changes to the "Holy' Scriptures?
by fulltimestudent inif you have the time and the means to visit israel right now, you can see something that few modern people have seen.. at the israel museum in jerusalem, a very special document will be on display.
the museum's website heading describes it as:.
genesis retold: an exceptional dead sea scroll.. .

Another thing to consider is looking at the Dead Sea scrolls you’ll find a bunch of writting like the war scroll that is not in any bible but probably just as important to those people that hid it in the caves as any biblical writting.
Also one clear case of bible tampering is the book of Daniel, the original writtings have another chapter and also the story of Bel and the dragon which is not in the Bible now.
ps. I just remembered another example the 10 commandments. Read what they were before Moses broke them and then read what they are after he gets a new set from god and there is a change or two. Did this really happen in the story or did a scribe make a change or a mistake.

I was quite tolerant of this guy until now
by never a jw inpresident trump is definitely a demagogue, a populist, and not a great extemporaneous speaker, just to mention few of his more conspicuous flaws.
however, i was going along because "it's the economy stupid".
now that has changed.

Never a Jw,, the standard of living has gone up do to technology and credit. One has to remember that the banks have made it easier for people to use credit then back in the early 70’. Also the changes in the tax laws allow business owners to spend business money and convert to personal with out the high taxes like in the past.
These changes seem good but there just smoke and mirrors. The real problem is wages have not kept pace with inflation, that’s why it takes two people working full time in a household and the use of credit to equal the standard of income via inflation of the early 70’s back though the 50’s.

What if Damascus is destroyed fulfilling Isaiah 17 prophecy?
by sinboi ini don't think the wt ever say anything about this prophecy.
if they did, i think they will say it is symbolic and that it doesn't mean damascus will be destroyed literally,.
but watching the things happening now in syria , it seems very possible that it could happen.. if this prophecy comes true, will those of you here who have rejected the bible as the word of god think twice regarding the bible?.

Well then Nebuchadnezzar will then have to be resurrected so he can go and fulfill The prophecies in Ezekiel chapters 29 on. He will have to destroy Egypt drive the people out stop the nile from flowing and make it so not even one animal will live there. He will have to make this happen and keep it that way for 40 years too.

Protectionism has work for China, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, and many others. Open borders and free trade has moved millions of American jobs overseas and now the average household income adjusted for inflation’s is no better then one head of household working in the early 1970’s ,
Free trade in America has only benefited the wealthy! I’m not a Trump fan but reality is reality the American trade plan is a joke!!!

Recent New Testament translation causing a stir
by careful insharp-witted and well-educated eastern orthodox philosopher and theologian david bentley hart, now a fellow at notre dame, has produced a nt translation (yale univ press 2017) that is causing a major stir.
one-man translations are pretty rare any more, but this one is making a real splash, largely because it does not surrender to the group/translation committee mentality.. .
even though it's been out only a few months, it's already been reviewed several times in well-known publications.

I started reading the new Net Septuagint bible that came out just a few years. It was supposed to be the most up to date translation based on all the data. In the end they too, the translators, were influenced by all thier previous ideals for the new translation was in my opinion not truly an accurate one. Maybe a bit better but not as accurate as it should be.

sexual abuse survivors in victoria to be able to sue churches as government moves to end 'ellis defence'.

Let’s hope it passes, but like stated earlier the cult is incorporated it like the Catholic Church so JWs down under should be able to sue and win.
Why JWs down there are not suing is beyond me? Maybe the culture is not a s sue happy as it is in the United States.

What does the WT say in response to the Bible command of human sacrifice?
by Crazyguy inin the bible at exodus 22:29 and numbers 3:13 its very specific that the first born males belong to god.
at leviticus 27:28,29 is specifically says all that is given to the lord even the sons can not be ransomed and are to be destroyed.
this makes it clear that human sacrifice of the first born males was expected.

I think what’s written in Numbers 5 where the Levites were substituted for the firstborn is the explanation the JWs would use. What’s funny here is what’s written in Numbers chapter 5 is a direct contradiction to what was written in both Leviticus and Exodus because those writtings said you could not Rasom or substitute things devoted to god.
