While they claim that the law ended with the death of Jesus, they are constantly using the OT laws as "principles" for legislating nearly everything the rank and file do.
I totally agree.
i've enrolled in a religious studies class this term focusing on christianity and the more i read, the more i'm getting the impression that the wtb&ts actually has more in common with the jews than mainstream christianity as i've illustrated below:.
main stream christianity jews jehovah's witnesses.
trinity - 3 god's in one one god: yahweh one god: jehovah (english version of yahweh).

as much as i dreaded going to all the meetings there were things that i did enjoy.. 1. no special parking spaces for the elders, etc.. 2. no collections plate going around the room.
3. no one person giving the talk every single week (can you imagine the same speaker 3 to 4 times a week, every day?
Associating with some people who were quite nice.....then the Chairman would start the meeting....and it was all downhill from there.
Also, no collection plate passed.
this one really freaked me out.
i was so brainwashed at the time i found a way to justify it.
i think i?ve been repressing my anger about this and now i need to vent.
It would appear to be the exception rather than the rule. And yet, I can easily picture some fanatical PO getting up and doing was was just described. The leap to fanaticism is a short one for many jws.
i have to say upfront that i am not sure about anything at this point of my life (i.e.
but i am trying to believe that there is a god, and that he is loving and cares about us...
i saw horrific pictures the other day about the floods that just occurred in dominican republic.

Checking out this site, it appears to be information from Young Earth Creationists. They attempt to prove that the days of Creation were literal 24 hour days, for example.
i recieved a 7 page "note" from my brother and his wife pleading with me to come back to jehovah god and his organization.
he said the devil was after me and my family and that the results will be disastrous unless i come back to "jehovah's protective custody".
also, it was strongly implied that unless my family went back to meetings and went out in field service, most jws, including family members would not attend my daughter's wedding and reception.my wife, daughter and i have been overtaken by the devil, according to him.
I would be pissed if anyone dissed my brother the way these posters do.
Funny how jws like using words like "pissed" and, in the case of a close relative of mine who is a die-hard jw "shit".
A bit hypocrtical me thinks.
Pure Language Class
i can still remember when i first posted all those years ago.
i was still an active jw but was drawn to the amazing conversations (and fights) on jwd.
h2o was dwindling and the refugees were coming here.
It is amazing that I still feel like a newbie some days.
Blondie? Blondie who?
Just kidding O Blonde One. It's great having you here and you certainly have carved out a place on this board. You add much insight and experience to the board.

And how does this brilliant plan work? Within a couple generations, we've got bad people again, building towers out of dried mud and just generally being Nimrods. All in all, the plan completely fails. The only thing we get out of the deal is a new weather phenomenon, the rainbow. Which, of course, eventually goes on to signify rights for gay people, which is good, but the destruction of billions of innocents just for a colorful symbol and maybe some leprachauns is kind of a high price to pay
This is something similar to what a coworker and I were discussiong just last week, only I failed to make the point so colorfully, But ultimately, the purpose of the Flood would certainly appear to have failed.
a "circuit" (northern california area including south of sacramento and foothills) had only half of their expected attendance at the 10-11 april circuit assembly.
only some 600 from a circuit of about 1100 were present to the dismay of the district and circuit overseers responsible for the assembly.
of major concern was how to foot the bill for the event which is funded by member donations.
I've felt for years that many jws, while refraining from speaking out verbally against the religion and the burdens imposed by the wts, speak out by their actions - ie, missing meetings, less field service, etc. This may be one more indicator that many jws are just getting tired of it.
when you want to type your laughter online, how do you do it?
is it in a lol?
haaaaaaaaaahahaha?
If you move:
1. You become a Raiders (or Chargers, or Niners) fan instead of a Lions fan.....winning pct. likely increases
2. You become a Mighty Ducks (or Kings) fan instead of a Wings fan.....winning pct. likely decreases
So it all balances out. Besides that, you exchange long cold winters for earthquakes and wildfires.
