No Eternal Life---Now What Hope Do You Have?

as more and more express the thought that they really don't have much hope for the future, has anything replaced the hope of eternal life in paradise earth?

Leaving the jws or becoming inactive does not, in my opinion, necessarily mean one gives up hope of living forever. I personally feel that the jws err in that they are trying to earn everlasting life, despite their assertions to the contrary. Personally, i've just given up trying to earn it. That doesn't mean I still don't hope for it.

Hey Dubla, I agree - women are just plain great to see. It's like that Seinfeld episode, when Jerry's gf was naked in the apartment all the time, and then Jerry did it and it was just not "good naked".
Of all areas you'd think would be liberal about sexual attitudes in the area of Bi-men and Bi-women, you'd think it would be the porn industry. But, the porn producers know that most folks don't really want to see guys interract sexually. Thus we have "Hetero" Porn, which also features generous amounts of girl on girl, but to see guy-guy you either have to check out the "gay" section or at the very least the "bi-sexual" section.

by avishai inonce again, the jw's are trying to silence someone that is so hurt it is almost beyond imagination.
sharon roe, sister in law of robert bryant is being df'd by the wts to keep her quiet about how they drove her brother in law to the brink of despair & beyond, by constantly hounding him & supporting his parents in their battle to undermine his headship as a parent by trying to get visitation and/or custody of his children.
they knew he was severely depressed & yet continued to harass this man, to the point where something so horrible, so unspeakable happened.

Ravyn, as sad as this occurance was, I don't think it can really be directly blamed on the jw religion, even if he was going out in service.
Of course, that does not diminish in the least the bad fruitage of the WTS's policies and practices, some of which are reported here and are obviously very difficult for people to bear.

Watch your language boy/girl
by JH inwhen we were in the org, we had to watch our language, and speak correctly and never swear.
people knew we were jw's just by the way we dressed, but also by the way we talked.

Yes, I try not to use foul words and I am generally very sucessful at it. My sister is a die-hard JW who uses foul words quite often. I know several jws who use foul language.

Jehovah Doesn't Need Protecting
by simplesally inwhen one studies the bible, one is encouraged to "run to jehovah, for he is a strong tower," jehovah is supposed to let us "roll our burdens" on him, "throw" our burdens on him, ones are told that he will lift us up like eagles, jehovah is salvation.. with all that said, my question is: why did the governing body and elders in the various congregations think that they were protecting jehovah's name by not coming forth with truth on matters of the court.
whenever a jw is defrauded or molested, i would think that jehovah is strong enough to clear his own name.
after all, jw's are told that they can sanctify jehovah's name but only jehovah can vindicate his own name.. aren't they playing god by trying to cover up?

A Few Thoughts On Barred Posters.
by Englishman inthere are posters that are naturally disruptive and attacking in their behaviour, and after a while their departure is greeted with relief by most folk here.
we've all had experience of people like that.. my biggest concern is for the poster who is simply amazingly volatile, yet is actually a big-hearted person beneath all of the bravado.
i think of them as "garbage mouths", because they just can not contain themselves, especially when they have had a few drinks or the adrenaline is running on high.. maybe it would be a good idea, if, rather than actually barring someone, they were to receive a compulsory "time-out" period, say of 7days or so.
