Due to Oct 5th WT Biz Meet all meetings for that week are cancelled
by illoowy ini was informed that due to oct 5th wt biz meet all meetings for that week are cancelled,.
i asked if the mid week meeting was also and was told yes, because of the assembly.. it seems there's an overload of theocratic alternative banqueting feasts available so.
that the regular menu at the kh is not necessary for that week.

The Bible and it's promise of Heaven and various other things
by confusedandalone innow in no way am i trying to discredit anyones beliefs or make fun, but once you get to heaven what is the plan once you get there.. of course, we always overlay extremely physical things upon the experience of heaven... milk and honey... ruiling over the earth etc... truthful the whole idea sounds so boring / mundane /monotonous.
spending all of eternity serving god by carry messages here and there?.
watching humans... i guess spending time with family that are also there and reminiscing.

I guess it's like doing anything (like working at a job, even one we like) for a long time - we don't want to do it forever. After a few decades (if that), we're ready for a change, we want to move on to something else.
If there is a heaven, one would think that getting there would open up incredible vistas that we have trouble conceiving at this time. On the surface, being there forever would appear to be boring. But it's a big universe, and that's just the part we can observe via telescopes.
But it would have to be purposeful. We'd have to be achieving something up there. Otherwise, what good would it be?

I've been hearing a radio ad lately for a company that says you'll talk to a "live human" when you call. It struck a cord with me, since I generally prefer speaking to a live human instead of to speaking a dead human.

Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word For The WTBTS To Say!
by JW GoneBad insorry to raymond and cynthia franz for expelling them on trumped-up charges and forcing them from there bethel home.. sorry for demonizing many of raymond's accomplishmets, such as 'the aid to bible understanding' (the blue book) that he had a hand in putting together and that too many old timers remember who grew fond of reading to expand their bible knowledge.. sorry to oompa for disfellowshipping him and causing him to be shunned to the point where he couldn't take it any longer and wound up taking his own life.

The Problem With The Organization Exposing Their Former Beliefs To Their Current Ones
by minimus ini realize some witnesses will say how wonderful it is that the governing body has put into print how their understanding has changed over the years.. the sheep and goats, the faithful and discreet slave, the evil slave class, etc.
are all viewed differently then originally understood.. the sad thing is that if you questioned any current understanding, as explained through the watchtower, or if you disagreed with it, you would be disfellowshipped!.
even if their understanding was totally in error, if anyone ever pointed it out, they were out!.

For me, it was the trumpet blasts being tied to those early conventions.

Isn`t it ludicrous women can be king/queen preists in heaven and rule with jesus in heaven, yet be silent and submissive to males in the congrgations ?
by smiddy inis this just another example of the bible being inconsistent/contradictory ?
or is it screwed up wt.theology.. what`s your thoughts.

I will say that in my jw experience, the women were generally more judgmental than the men were. While I do think that women deserve some ecclesiastical privilages and would do well therein, I noticed among jw women an especially harsh and narrow viewpoint when it came to scripture application and personal relationships.

Prayers that God answers. Any examples?
by punkofnice inwhen i believed in god i tried not to pray for anything selfish.. after a while i began to think that a lot of things i was asking my imaginary friend in the sky for were selfish for some reason.. i do not ever remember a single thing i prayed for ever being answered.
if there was the appearance of an answer it was because i did mental gymnastics to make it fit the delusion that god had actually answered me.
there was never an obvious message/answer from god.

The problem of God answering prayers is, as already pointed out, that it then boils down to whose, which, and how often. And therein lies the problem.
Don'tCallMeShirley's illustration of the plane crash bears this out. If God answered the one, then it immediately becomes troubling and problematic that he did not answer the other 249, or at least some of them.
