Brothers Barr and Splane gave the service.
I imagine Geoff would have chosen those two, so does it mean he is in the "Softer" camp.
Barr and Splane are not known as hardliners are they?

Sorry the system wont let me write more in the post above,
but I have heard from a reliable source that Jenny Jackson lost her ten year battle with cancer.
A funeral service was held for her yesterday at Bethel she was 54.
Paul Grundy (JWfacts) has said in previous posts that he knew her and she was a particularly nice person.
Sad.

just saw the newsflash on cnn (10:30 est wed 30 dec 2009).
seems he had serious chest pains while playing golf in hawaii and was rushed to the hospital.
not sure where the "serious condition" part came from but that's what was reported.. even those of us who disagree with most of what he says wish him no harm and a speedy recovery.. however, when you are that full of shit, it takes a toll on your body.. rub a dub.
I forgot to add that he's a drug addict and a hypocrite. I'd hate to use the toilet after him.
So you really don't care for him?
.
just had lunch with a inactive jw friend of mine who is well on her way out.
she said that when the she went to the kingdom hall the week of the circuit overseers visit, he said from the platform, that if anyone had done any wrong doing in the past, no matter how long ago, and had never come forward to tell the elders, then they would not make it into the new system, but would rather die at armegedon!!.
i guess after that talk the elders were inindated and they began privately, and publically reproving, and removing ones!!
I always figured if they were going to DF me, I'd stand up and cry out: "You told me if I slept with you that you wouldn't disfellowship me!" and run out.
Oh Mary that is soooooooooooooo good.
There is a self righteous elder I would love to say that to.

i feel there are some weaknesses in the legal defenses that the watchtower society uses when enforcing shunning on former members.
one is that they claim that getting baptised makes someone a jehovah's witness and implies that they are willing to live by watchtower rules.
however, they don't use baptism as the criteria for counting their members.
Hi DT,
That is very good thinking and a very good letter.
It deserves to get as much exposure as possible.
Thank you

long-time occasional lurker, first-time poster.
cliffs notes version: i'm thinking of da'ing in order to shake my family up a bit, even though i haven't been involved with jws in more than 10 years.
longer version: i was raised as a jw but never got baptized.
Unfortunately if you are not baptized you cant DA.
You are not a member so you cant quit.
Sorry

--read 1 john 3:16.. comments.
q 18, 19. how should we view any counsel that we receive from a christian friend, and what example did the ephesus.
why not the david example here...david's servants and family had to know.. q 21. what will all of us do at times, but why is it vital that we maintain strong friendships in the congregation?.
Thanks Blondie,
Cant comment on the article. Makes me sick.

first off, possibly like most first looking into this, i feel nauseous.
a month ago i would have thought that ok, sure, like any organization the jw must have some pedophiles.
and that obvously they would be rooted out double quick.
the shocking way that they choose to deal with it
would be my answer.
hi jwners,.
i was just watching a program with steve hill and he touched on the issue judgement day and the testimony of 2 or 3 witnesses.
now the bible says we will all face judgement one day.
Stephen,
Were you ever a Witness?
