so here goes...... what was the sin, or sin(s) that sodom & gormorrah was judged for?

Marking.

i've heard the expression a few times here but have normally not taken much notice.

i've been exited for 31 years and 4 months, well before the onset of elders, reproofs and marking.. i understand the first 2 but am all at sea about the the third.

someone please tell me exactly what "marking" is and how one becomes marked or a marker.. or markee!

has anyone here ever tried to tread lightly until a certain date just so you won't screw up someone else's event by getting disfellowshipped or speaking your mind and getting shunned?.

i'm just wondering because my brother is planning on marrying a witness girl next spring.

the date is set and he's asked me to be best man.

You wont be allowed to be in the wedding if it is in the kingdom hall. They wouldn't want to stumble anyone in the cong by having you in the wedding while you not being an active jw.

i don't know if anybody else has brought this point up yet on these different 2034 threads but ...

their watchtower article that linked armageddon with the flood, said that the flood came 120 years after judgment was passed

How do they get that it was 120 years from the time God told Noah till he actually brought the flood? Anybody know? I read the scripture they quoted, but to me it doesnt seem obvious that thats what it meant.

" if the watchtower said it, and the men on the platform preached it, then it must have been true.

so it was very hard to accept as an adult, that they were wrong.

i blame myself.

I have to agree with Alan on this one. The way a person is raised and taught, especially when even his reading material is censored to a large extent, has a very large bearing on the way a person thinks. It can be extremely hard to think "outside the box". For many JWs, they never will.

JWs are conditioned over a long period of time to think in only one direction. That is; what comes from Jehovahs organization can be accepted as truth and everything else is questionable and at worst probably propaganda from satan trying to corrupt their thinking.

If nothing major ever comes along to make them question and to think outside the box, they will forever remain "in" the box.

Don't give up Scholar. Although it would be nice to see you own up to past mistakes you have made. I did notice that AlanF did not have a problem with saying he was in error when he found out that he was. He publicly acknowledged he had made an honest mistake and moved on. We ALL make mistakes and if we have honor and integrity we own up to our past mistakes/blunders/lack of knowledge about a certain matter, etc, that we have made and move on. I for one, am looking forward to an ongoing discussion. I very much appreciate everyones hard work in finding the truth in this mess.
