Now I am going to do a rear thing here and I am going to stick up for the WTS. I realise that the WTS hasn't got the best of track record, and sure they have made mistakes. But if I was to go to another church wouldn't they still have the same issues. For example you have got the Momon church trying to explain how the american indians mitocondrial DNA would say they came from Asia and not the Middle East as the Book of Mormon would suggest. Pretty hard to argue against DNA evidence. 7th day Adventists have also had a bit of a checkered history concerning date setting. The Catholic Church with homosexuals and pedophiles and I think there situation would be worse than the witnesses. I mean for Gods sake even the boy scouts are been accused of covering up child abuse. In fighting and break away groups forming. The list goes on and on and on. What realy winds people up and causes them to shine light on the WT faults is that they are pissed at been thrown out (hey and i dont blame them). What also has to bear in mind is the WT has been around for nearly 140 years so I guess there will be some mistakes made along the way. So I realise that the Wt isn't the absolute truth, and have unscriptural practices e.g disfellowshipping, and they realy annoy me. So then I leave the WT and join another church to find they have the same issues. what then if I still want to remain a Christian?????????????? And the answer I don't want to hear is. They are all the same and don't go to church.

Bethel Speaker- get rid of Facebook!
by Kensho inspecial assembly day (sad) bethel speaker ( a very good speaker i might add) in his talk " follow your spirit-directed conscience gave example of and elder and his family.
he noticed his wife and daughter spending a lot of time morning noon and night on facebook, it almost seemed like that is all they did, so as a spiritual head decided to see what they were constantly looking at, "let me see what you are spending so much time looking at on facebook said the elder".
the wife explained this is how we keep in contact with the "friends", elder started to look at her page and she was correct, there he found friends in the cong.

I heard a goodie of what elders get up to, that was relayed to me by a friend. My friend had an elder send him a F/B friend request. He thought that it was nice that an elder wanted to be friends with him, and he accepted. Couple weeks later found the reason why. He was spying so he could collect evidence for a local needs talk about those that had worldly people as friends and don't publish the fact they were JW.He was so pissed about it he went straight home to delet him but he bet him to it. The thing annoyed him was the way he went about it If he had told him what he was up to there wouldn't of been a problem and my friend had nothing to hide. Then blow me down I had another comment made to me by another elder how he uses an alias to get onto people's frinds list so he can also spy.Just totally unethical.

Welcome. It just surprises me at the amount of new people joining. Since I have joined 8 days ago there have been 2 other new people. Its proabably an indication of how many are walking out at the other end. Its the same old story of "How much I didnt know" and "How could I have not known". Here are some good ones that I enjoyed if you want to get your blood boiling (just put into the search engine above) Menlo Park / Kingdom Hall remodel scam / RBC asking for the insurance checks when helping in disaster areas / Approved accomodation motels / special conventions why so expensive to attend / car parking scams. You gotta love them. I to am in a similar sort of situation as you, on the outer boundries. What will I do I dont really know. But I suggest to you it is best you keep your mouth shut until your mind is made up, and you have got support networks built up that will replace the ones that will crumble behind. As we all know opening your mouth before you are ready will just get your arse kicked out of there. If you want to IM I would really enjoy that. Peace out my friend.

Mathematical equation for working out witness divorce rate using the national average.
by joe134cd inhi folks.
i have noticed that there is a lot of speculation on how well witness perform in marriage.
there is a simple equation that can be used as a guide to work this out.

skin = Funnily enough to just add another comment to the one about "the sister that brought it". I was been informed by this elder a couple of mounths ago about a person who had been DFed married a wordly girl, and is now divorced and trying to make his way back. The comment was made that "if he had never left the truth and married a witness then none of this would of happened". I just thought to myself "if only he knew". I just nodded my head and agreed with him.

Blondie:community view of divorce (varies from country to country). That is true. Thats why I gave the equation, but used america as the example, so a person can use use it for their own country and region. I think I recall in one of the mags how the high court in Russia had done a servey and found that witnesses had a lower rate of divorce, which meant they didnt break up families. Im sort of glade they didnt put our cong under the microscope they probably would of reached different conclusion. This equation can be used as guide e.g if you know what the figure is in "X" then it makes it easier to work out in "Y". From what I have read about with divorce statistics with christians in general and through observation, and comments that I have recieved when I have mentioned this to people. I would say the divorce rate with witnesses would probably at best be the same as the national average, or at worst slightly higher than the average.

Hi Folks. I have noticed that there is a lot of speculation on how well witness perform in marriage. There is a simple equation that can be used as a guide to work this out. The following workings come from http:www.divorcestatistics.org/ . Unfortunately the latest figures they had for the USA were to 2010. Although old they do give the general idea.
Divorce statistics for 2010 in america were.
872000 divorces in america in a national population of 244122529.
So if this is what it was nationally what would that figure represent if it was in a population of 100 people. So in other words how many divorces would there have to be in a congregation of 100 people (we will say 80publishers. Accounting for all the babies and young children who arnt publishers) if it was the same as the general population. Below are my workings.
Divorce rate / Population x 100 = The amount divorced per 100 people (or for those mathematically inclined. Displayed as a %) in the USA during 2010
872000 / 244122529 x 100 = 0.35719767592609
So in other words for every 100 Americans in 2010 was represented by one third of one divorce. This is impossible to get just as you cannot get a third of a person. This number has to be multiplied (by the number of years) until we can get to 1 complete divorce.
Amount divorced per 100 people x Time taken to get to a complete divorce = A complete divorce
0.35719767592609 x 3 years = 1.07159302777827
So in other words what I am trying to say here is. If a congregation of 100 people (could be represented by 80 publishers ???)was having 1 couple divorce every 3 years they would be at the national average. Any less of more would be, better or worse. When I thought back over the last couple of decades of the ones I had seen divorced it was nearly 200% higher than the national average. If some one would like to work out the figures over a number of years please feel free to do so. I would also like to thank Mr JWFacts as it was through him that gave me this idea. I hope that I have explained this clearly, as I am not very good and relaying information.

Mathematically it is very easy to work this out and to do a comparison.
The anual number of divorced in a nation (divided by) the total population (multiplied by) 100. Basically this gives the number as a percentage, or out of 100. In other words this breaks a hugh number down so a person can see it better . Then you have to multiply that number until you get to a full number which represent the number of years. Hope this isnt confusing.
For example
if the divorce rate in a given year for a nation was 9000 and the total population of of that nation was 5,000 000. It would be 9000/5,000000 (multiplied) by 100 = 0.18. So in other words for ever hundred people in that nation there would of been 0.18 of a divorce. It is impossible to get 0.18 of a divorce so what we have to do is multiply that number (0.18) until we can get can get to a full number (and this would represent the number of years).I will now show you this as an equation.
9000 / 5,000000 x 100 = 0.18 per annum.
0.18 x 5.6 = 1.008
So what I am trying to say here is in a congregation of 100 publishers you would have to have 1 divorce around every 5 and a half years to be at the national average for that country. So what you now have to do is look at the cencus report for you country and work it out. Once you know what the national average is, think back over the years and think how many many have split in that given time and adjust that figure by the number of publishers. I know in the congregation that I am associated with (when I was researching this)I was shocked to find that the divorce rate over the last 2 decades was nearly 200% higher than the national average. Oh and until this point I always thought witnesses had an extremely low divorce rate.

Hi everyone.I have been reading the blogs here for some time and have just decided to have an in put. I am still a current member of the WTS and am sort of planning to fade. I realise 2 things (1)I have to build bridges in order to replace the ones that will crumble behind.(2)I have to fade under favourable conditions other wise I can see me getting DFed in the distant future. Although I have been going to the meetings for some decades the thing that hurts me is that I had to come to an apostate site to find out many of the things I have wondered about. Some of the questions I have had answered are. The divorce rate amongst witnesses. Why was it so expensive to use the assembly hall. How many are leaving, and the list goes on.One particular thing that bothered me was that I have been on a number of society arranged tours but could never understand how come they were so expensive. I used to put it down to the travel agency they were using. Now I realise it is because they were getting backhands. The disaster relief fund isn't a fund at all especially when they are opting to do houses that are insured. It is just a scam and I wonder how they can legally get away with it been listed as a charity. This has just made me loose all respect for the organisation. In true Watchtower fashion they just choose to say nothing. I believed it was backed by God and i done my best to support God organisation, and now I am left wondering. How could I be such a fool. The other thing that distresses me is that my fellow brothers and sisters wouldn't have a clue of what is going on and if I openly tried to tell them the consequences would be more than I would be willing to bear.
