Yup I agree with the posters here. I’m a fader as well. I’m happy to be mentally and physically out, just can’t be bothered upsetting the apple cart with a JC. Don’t try and fix what isn’t broken.

Zoom meetings
by molybdenum inbeing pimo i attend the meetings regularly over zoom.
( i have to as my wife is a dyed -in - the wool, and stick-in-the mud pioneer witness.
i have no possibility of leaving as it would create havoc in my life and at 68 years of age i just don't want the hassle of having to cope with the ramifications of disassociating myself.

Please don’t take offence to my comments here, but there is a time if a person hasn’t left the org by a certain age. The person is better off left there. My elderly father, who is a bit older than you, is a perfect example. Waking up and getting DFed at his stage in life would literally kill him. So much so that when that TV doco “the witness” aired in this country. I took him out to dinner ,out of fear, he would stumble across it as he was flicking through the channels. To this day, I still think, he is unaware of its existence. I see this as a positive thing. Although I realise CSA is a very bad thing. Hey, I just do what is best for my dad.

How many TRUE BELIEVERS do you think are left in the Organization?
by pistolpete ini have a few jw relatives who are true believers.
by this i mean, they believe with all their heart that 1914 was the beginning of the last days, that this is the last generation, that we are in the very last of the last hour of this system of things, and that you should obey the governing body even if it does not make sense.
all of them are in their 60s and up into their 90s there is nothing you can say or show them to convince them or even cause a small doubt that the wt is not god organization.

It’s a hard question. I would say the number of people who have accepted TTATT, to the point that they investigate on the internet, would be under 5%. As I look back on when I was PIMO, there were a couple of people who I now wonder knew that the jw religion wasn’t all that it appeared. They are still trudging along for whatever reason. -

by mickbobcat inwhen i was a kid in the late sixties the type of books we would study was very intense compared to the bull shit pablum that they put out today?

Freddie Franz is dead and so is his nonsense. Even as a PIMI Dub I never really brought into all the 1914- 1919, cedar point Ohio, crap.

What are the Society's rules when confronting a disfellowshipped person at a funeral service?
by RULES & REGULATIONS inwhat are the society's rules when confronting a disfellowshipped person at a funeral service?.
are there specific rules or watchtower articles that must be followed?.
i have been to three different wakes/funerals where a disfellowshipped person attended with different results.. 1. ten years ago my first cousin passed away.

Yes I agree. It depends on ,who are there, who’s giving the talk, and the level of self righteousness. I recently attended a JW funeral, and to be fair to them, it rocked. It would of been 50/50 JW and the persons life. I thought this was the right mix as JWisim was a the main point of his life. I was so taken back that I actually commented on this to the elder who gave the talk. Walked the coffin out and they played a song by musician. Good for you watchtower.

another Mormon similarity
by neat blue dog ini have said to many people that a person will come to be better informed regarding what's happening in the world today by reading the book of mormon than all the magazines and newspapers combined.. - ezra benson, lds president.
it has been said that the four parts (of the photo drama) are worth more than a year in college.. - charles russell, wt president.
the motives and results are the same: look at in-house information first and foremost, and distrust other sources..

I put the mormons 10-15 years ahead of the JWs. They just have a better presentation to the public. One very brave move, was when they wrote a series of letters on the more unfavourable aspects of Mormonism. Eventually, with the internet, Wt will be forced to follow suite.

Thoughts on JW funerals
by Syme ini recently had the sad opportunity to attend 2 jw funerals.
the first was a few months ago and the second today.
the first was my grandfather's and the second of an old friend back from my jw days.

I have recently attended 2 JW funerals. The 1st one I have to say would of been 50/50 about the deceased and JW doctrine. I was so impressed by this I actually commented on it to the elder, who gave the service . The friends ( be it conditional ones) put on a lovely after function. I personally didn’t mind the service been 50/50,as been a jw was a major part of his life.
The second was the like the service you described. Left me somewhat bewildered.
I agree with dozy, in that things are slowly changing. I think a lot of it has to do with the elder giving the talk, and how much of a company man he is.

The Life of Pioneers...
by The Bethelite ini don't know why but sometimes like to check up my old/self righteous friend, gary kennedy from bethel on face book....he is a pioneer in ecuador.
yes and just like most pioneers he likes to brag on his selfless life style.
he is serving the lord my sitting at home and writing out thousands of letters long hand all day long to count his time.

The postage must be horrid. And here we were informally counciled on flag stamps. So much for neutrality. I use xmas ones
I wonder if they realise in Chile that they have no problem with flying the national flag on KH grounds.
