I have yet to hear of, in this country of any congregation mergers in any of the main metropolitan areas. The only mergers I have heard of have been in small towns. To be honest I don't think this is entirely due to people leaving the WT but I think in part due to people moving from rural areas into cities. On saying that how ever I can't say there has been a dramatic increase of publishers moving into the cities as they leave these rural areas.

My Former Congregation is Dead
by Nosferatu inwhen i left the jw organization, there were about 80 publishers in my congregation.
within the last month, the congregation was abolished because it only had 29 publishers in it.
the apparent reason for this was one elder on a power trip.

Future for conventions
by joe134cd inevidently with the new light on the reduced time spent at circut assemblies.
i put forward 3 theories for the future of assemblies.. (1) there will be a world wide fire sale of assembly halls, due to the 50% reduction of use.
if this is the plan i reckon they will carry this out with in the next 5 years.

(1) There will be a world wide fire sale of assembly halls, due to the 50% reduction of use. If this is the plan I reckon they will carry this out with in the next 5 years. Of course the R&F will be spun some BS about simplification and lessening the load on our brothers.
OR
(2) Been able to cram into 1 day what used to take 2 days to do, will allow the facilities to be used for District Conventions as well. No fire sales of assembly halls.
OR
(3) I've noticed just recently that they have been more prone to use televised talks e.g GB member visits Australia and it gets broad cast all over the South Pacific. Could this become more the norm with assemblies, or even in Kingdom Halls as it becomes harder to find qualified brothers to give talks.
Whats your thoughts.

No more circuit assemblies

I'm willing to put money on it that there will be massive fire sale of assembly halls next. I reckon they have got their sights set on it as we speak. Of course the R&F will get the same B/S shit excuses of simplification and lessening the burden to the brothers.

CIRCUIT ASSEMBLIES KEEP SHRINKING IN SIZE - WAY TO GO!!
by steve2 inthe recent boe letter announcing changes to the duration of circuit assemblies was warmly received by congregations the worldover.
it was as if the brothers and sisters were already in the new world for, upon hearing this news, there were no tears at all.
instead, it is a humble acknowledgement from the gb of the mind-numbing, yawn-inducing 2-day circuit assemblies.. .

Steve2= I'm willing to bet that in 2017 they will announce "due to the recent decrease in use of the assembly hall. The governing body has lovingly decided to simplify and reduce the burden to our brothers by selling the hall". I bet they have already set their eyes on it. I'm just curious to know why in the time of the end are they cutting back on the fine instruction at the house of Jehovah. My number one guess is that its now just no longer viable. Although i find this hard to believe as using the assembly hall that I attended, especially after they set up the ATM's. There always seemed to be plenty of money left over. But I'm not saying this is the case every where though.

How many in the cong visited you when you started fading
by joe134cd ini'm just curious speaking from a person who has stopped going to meetings.
i have heard reports from inactive ones (or from ones who the elders suspect of going to the dark side) of having so many visits from elders (cong members) that it got to the point of harassment.
surprisingly i have to say from personal experience and from numerous others that i have spoken to that the exact opposite has been the case.

Frazzled UBM= As an outsider I find this discussion interesting. The congs are damned if they do and damned if they don't. If they do chase up faders then this is harrassment and if they don't it is uncaring. Personally I would love it if my wife's 'friends' didn't call her every time she misses a meeting. I think this form of subtle pressure makes her go back the next week.
yeah I agree with you ( and I was the one who started the thread). I just find it puzzling, with the amount of people they lose every year, why they arnt been more proactive. Don't get me wrong I'm happy it worked out the way it did, and it saved me a lot of stress with having to deal with them. But what I thought would be the case, was exactly the opposite.
Even as I look back on past events e.g deceased sister in cong who I never knew who died. I have to ask myself just how I could not have known.
The thing that I find totally ironic. Is how they are prepared to spend 1000s of hours for a new recruit, and yet not even know the person had died. In the TMS If you were to count the time allotted to finding a new recruit as apposed to retaining him, it would be telling. I think the problem that Wt is having trouble understanding, is the reason for poor growth (particularly in western lands) is the out ward flow of people. When you look at the figures and see that for every increase in publisher one baptised person is leaving. 2/3 of the youth are leaving. JW have the lowest retention rate of any main religion. One has to ask would that time and money be better spent on retention rather than on magazine distribution. I work with this penticostal guy and he quite often talks about team building events that is openly encouraged, and in some cases subsidised by the church. They have church councillors who have had secular training, to help not only it's members but also outsiders who may want assistance. These things are not only helping it's members not to secumb to the pressures of the world e.g drugs, gambling, sex etc but also inevitably retaining them. Wt chooses to solve the problem at the other end by disfellowshipping the unrepentant sinner once the problem is out of control.

Reminder: Hate speech on this forum is NOT tolerated
by Simon insome of the comments on the anthony morris topics have been despicable.. if someone is an idiot or a biggot then they are damaging themselves.. if 'we' start posting vile filth, insults and threats then it doesn't convince anyone other than we're probably as bad..

Magwitch= That was kind of what I was expecting to get, sort of similar to the Ray Franz treatment. But instead sweet silence. Nada nothing zilch. I guess it's in the art of how you fade. Say nothing and they leave you alone.
