Hi Sasha:
What is Talbots? Thank you.
one thing that always use to puzzle me was the personal appearance standards, espessially for meetings and service.
the men always were expected to where a tie, suit, jacket, etc.
no beards were allowed-mustaches were ok!
Hi Sasha:
What is Talbots? Thank you.
i grew up a witness and i never felt bad about my lack of material belongings a.k.a.
not having nice clothes in school, it didn't bother me that the other first graders were stuffing their faces with birthday cupcakes and i was in the school library researching fossils; but what did bother me?
my cool cousins.
It has been interesting to read the comments in this post. While all of us spent various amounts of time in the organization and we all took away some life skills that we could use witness, or post witness......what the sad part is we got a raw deal in trade for those life skills. Some of us lost so many years in the organization that we have come out the other side middle-aged and old-aged. The chance for some of us to learn a new trade or get a degree is limited by our life expectancy post witness. One other thing....I don't care how much good we brought out with us from the organization, the organization is not the ideal place to learn life skills. We came from an organization that hides pedophiles, lies to its captives, breaks promises, treats people that dare to have an independant thoughts like Hitler treated his opposers, that in his opinion they were not entitled to have a life. Let's not give the JW organization too much credit!
my son has come to stay with me for the summer, and this morning i got a phone call which showed on the caller id as my son's grandparents (my jw ex's parents who are also jw).
i assumed it was my ex calling from their house and answered handing the phone to my son.
that's when i heard his grandma's voice on the phone.

I am impressed that you decided to have a frank, objective chat with your x-outlaw. Its disgusting when JW's cast all good manners aside to practice shunning. They selfishly never take into consideration they are punishing inocent ones such as your son indirectly. I find that totally unacceptable.
When I see the JW's around here I decide if a shunning event is going to take place. I always make eye contact with the JW and most always greet them. If for some reason I feel like ignoring them, I do however, I don't treat them with anymore disrespect than I would treat any stranger.
Since we are not JW's we are not required to play the games anymore!
Thank you for your topic. It was refreshing to see someone stand up and call the shots. As you said some just automatically play the shunning game with out a second that. We are all better people than the JW's and we shound never stoop to their level of immorality towards other humans.
i can no longer be among the ranks of the whining, complaining and naysayers who do not vote in our national elections.
what individuals choose to do according to free will is their own business.
i heard soeting somewhere that has continued to prick my consciense for a long time.
I registered to vote and short time later I was ask to run for city council. I did and won by five votes. I served on the city council for 2 years.
i explain to some that jw'sare like mormons, amish (but don't have a compound), flds (they have one too), hasidic jews, and i belive even islamic shun if they do not kill or maim you instead.
islam is a serious big cult imo........but what is the pecking order?
and how do these other guys shun compared to jw's?.......add more shunners if you gottem............oompa
I know I am going to get in trouble for this.......it has been my experience that the female witnesses shunners are the worst. I have seen them be very animated in their body language. The men just act like they are intimidated. I know ooompa this isn't the kind of answer you were looking for but, I just had to run off at the head with this.
the watchtower bible and tract society was awarded the 2008 most green religion award... they recycle all thier old articles and publish it again.
sorry i just couldn't resist.
Yeah, the color of money green!
i am happy to say that i wasn't great with rvs and i never had a study.
hopefully me fluffing my way through presentations didn't plant any seeds that got watered and grew.
.
None that I know of but it wasn't for the lack of trying!
i was speaking to my mom on the phone yesterday, and despite my trying to avoid it, we got to talking about wacky jw topics -- again.
actually, it was nearly unavoidable, since she had just returned from her summer convention.
aside: nice way to celebrate your wedding anniversary, mom & dad; at an assembly!
I remember when this information came out. It was quite a long time ago. My older sister is disfellowshipped and not apostate to my knowledge and she has never got the call from the elders.
I hope asilentone is correct..... I would never want to be in any sort of meeting with the boys from the congregation. They did not help me at all when I was in the lie. I consider them to be worse than any apostates. They are heartless robots.
i feel at the moment to keep posting on this site is doing me no good.
i used to post here many years ago and came across many things jw related that made me feel angry towards the way i was brought up.
in particular the 607 issue and the generation change.
Go with your heart. Best wishes!
You will start to heal when you realize there is no one out there that has the right to tell us how to act, and think and feel and be. You need to trust yourself and be your own savior. I was raised "in the truth" and it has taken me a while in fact every day I have to remind myself that I can think for myself. It is liberating and a bit scary but it is living! There is hope for your daughter, she is young now and as she matures she will begin to question things more and you will always be there for her with the answers she needs. Live life for her for in you she can find her way out as well. May God our father bless and keep you for he still loves you.
