If you are still in and a JWs health care agent, What to do?
by BU2B ini am in this position.
i am my fathers health care agent, and my wifes as well.
if they are ever in a serious accident or emergency, do you think it would be unethical to allow blood to be used on them?

I am a care agent for my parent - a devout jw. out of respect, I will do as they have asked. We ask others to respect our non-belief of the jw religion, I think we need to respect their beliefs of being a jw... It is their life & they have the right to live it as it is, regardless of how misguided they May be...

At what point did you destroy your Blood card?
by BU2B ini know for me it was soon after lurking here for awhile and reading some threads on the issue.
i remenber when i tore it into little tiny pieces.
it felt so liberating..

I was in one of those congs that all the corrupt elders flocked to. If they lost their privileges in another cong, they just moved to ours & they were reinstated within a short time. Any good elders would leave. My attendance was irregular cause of the way they treated me. Why go if ppl ignore you or said nasty lies about you. 4 years ago I missed the meeting where the blood card was given out So I missed out. I did ask our book conductor to give me one But I guess he couldn't be bothered. I haven't had one since...

Held my first "worldly" party last night
by Gypsy Sam ini used to have a lot of jw gatherings at my home and it's been the one thing i did miss since our fade.
although i had some nonjw contacts in my life, i always held them at arms length and never really invited them to my place.
well, i've opened up to this group over the last year about the issues with pedofiles within jw world, and the internal/external shunning policy.

That's awesome... I'm starting to let 'worldly' ppl come closer rather than keeping them at a distance...

What if the GB hired you as the new CEO of Jehovah's Witnesses?
by kneehighmiah ini'm pretending the gb decided to hire a ceo to combat dwindling membership and overall apathy.
here is a list of the changes i would make to the organization if i were hired as ceo.
feel free to list your ideas (serious and humorous)!.

i would do more to help those in the community who need assistance, regardless of their religious beliefs. I would also ensure there are aged care facilities for those who are elderly and need additional care - especially those who have been faithful for many years (I have an elderly mum who has been faithful for many years & given so much to this organisation and they don't give a f**k about her - it really pisses me off!)

JW's DO celebrate Xmas!
by PrincessCynic ini'm finding it really funny how many witnesses celebrate christmas without actually 'celebrating christmas'.
i'm just looking at facebook and seeing how many got together with family on christmas day or boxing day and had a big roast dinner, often with turkey, ate too much, drank too much, played some board games etc.
then a few days later i'm seeing photos from all their 'family present days' where the kids get a ton of gifts to open.

I have noticed the same sort of thing... Many jw's attending work Xmas lunches/dinners etc. posting pics & gifts they received, but calling them 'end of year' gifts or 'end of year' lunches/dinners...
Also have noticed many jw's going out & receiving/giving gifts to celebrate the day they were born, but calling it their 'special day' rather than their birthday... Also seen many jw's tagged on fb by non-jw's celebrating Xmas & birthdays... It's very common here...
