That's so funny, when we used to have the bookstudy at our house, the elder that conducted it use to pick his nose and eat it. He seemed old at the time, but he was probably in his early to mid thirties and the father of two. My siblings and I use to bet between each other how many times he would do it in one hour.

Weird Logic
by loosie inlet's hear the weirdest comment or suppossed logical thought you've ever heard a witness say.. i'll start: out in service once a sis and her son were in the same car group as i was.
he was having a nose bleed and told his mom that the blood was running down the back of his throat.
his mother said " well don't swallow it yo uknow how jehovah feels about blood don't you!".

Heaven forbid if you were to have internal bleeding of the stomach, you'd be doomed for sure. Unbelieveably ridiculous.

The most condescending thing said to you by the (sm)elders.
by diamondblue1974 ini wasnt the most academic of children although i had some capability but i could read quite well by the time i was 4 years old at least for my age; i have always read as a child and still read now as an adult both professionally (research) and for pleasure.
i have always been able to write too...and pretty much advanced as well as my peers did in school...perhaps i am lucky, i certainly feel like i am when illiteracy amongst adults and children is rife at present...however.. i remember when i was 16 the wts in the uk were pushing through a scheme teaching those who were not as able to read and write...and an elder in the hall made a point of coming to me and suggesting that i should actually attend the training!!
!....i explained that i could read and write well enough and didnt need to be taught basic literacy... he said that i might learn something new and should respect jehovahs order of things and show appreciation...i did decline his kind offer rather abruptly....but wtf??

luvtobeworldly, thank you so much. I've been disfellowshipped since I was 25, I'm 49 now. My ex husband remarried and abused the next wife as well, he's now on the 3rd wife. We have 2 adult children together so we are still in contact and we are actually friends. He is mentally ill and is the first to admit it and has apologized tearfully for everything he put me through. Funny I've never been apologized by the elders that gave me zero support. I've often thought of writing a letter to the elder that did that that day and letting him know that he's "counsel" was my turning point of not wanting to stay in the organization, let that hang over his head. 7 years later when I was disfellowshipped one of the elders on the committee ekpt repeating "she's not repenting, she needs to be disfellowshipped" he was also the one asking questions such as "did you touch him down there, did he touch you" etc etc. Later he was turned in and he confessed to molesting the young teenage boys in the congregation. He was disfellowshipped, but they never turned him in to the authorities.

In 1974 I was an 18 year old newlywed, married to a 26 year old JW wife abuser. One winter Sunday morning I got up to a freezing house to get ready for the meeting. I started a fire in our wood stove and got in the shower. When I got out the fire had gone out and my husband was furious with me. I went and made his breakfast but he was bound and determined to make me pay for him having to wake up to a cold house. I went into the bathroom to get my brush while he was shaving and he pulled me in and threw me against the wall and said if you want the bathroom you can have it. He shut me in and wouldn't let me out. I tried to reason with him and then pleaded to no avail. I tried pushing on the door which infuriated him and he open the door and beat the crap out of me. I went to the meeting anyway so I could talk to an elder. After the meeting the elder came over while my husband had gone to a job. My mother and sister, both Witnesses at the time were there. After I told the Elder the story, he sat there with a stupid grin on his face with his bible on his lap and said "Wow don't the sisters in Malawi wish they had your problems" He then said "come here and I'll show you a fool proof way to make a fire" He actually started showing me how to make a fire "so it wouldn't happen again". He then proceeded to read me scriptures on how to be a good wife. My husband was never reprimended or spoken to. When I left my husband 5 years later the Elders told me I would be responsible if my husband committed adultery.

I NEED YOUR HELP!!!!!
by chuckyy inmy wifes father has just died.
he wasn't a jw but his wife is.my wife and i are recently disassociated.. the thing is, the reason my wife and i disassociated is because of cruel comments made by certain sisters toward my disabled daughter.
now my wife has to see these 2 particular people everyday at school (their 2 kids are in class with ours) now usually, they stand away from my wife waiting for their kids and walk out after us.

Sorry about your loss. I felt so angry when I read your post. I've been disfellowshipped for about 25 years now, so I've been in so many situations like that through out the years. I never surprises me what how socially challenged dubs are. They are programmed as to how they are suppose to act and nothing comes natural to them anymore. I don't see how they live with themselves.

by freedom96 init must be about 13 years since i went out in service.

25 years of Saturdays all to myself and my family. I never loved service as the sisters in my congregation professed.
