Were you ever comfortable with the term "your spiritual heritage"?
by micheal ini never really liked this term even when i was heavily in the org.
the brothers tried to get everyone to feel really proud of their "spiritual heritage" like you were looking back at your own family heritage.
i don't know but i never felt that closeness to my "heritage" as a jw.

Faithful & Discreet Slave - NEW LIGHT
by Black Man inok........has anybody been hearing rumors about new light on the faithful and discreet slave teaching?
i recently talked to one of my ex-bethel buddies and he said that an adjustment has been in the works for awhile now and that the new light for the fds will be that they will receive their appointment before the great tribulation and that they didn't receive it at 1918-19 as previously taught.
their works (global preaching work, worldwide growth, etc) up until the point of the great tribulation will show that they have been faithful and discreet in caring for the lord's interests and worthy of "official" appointment before the end comes.

I thought that the generation new light and the sheep and the goats new light would almost FORCE people to stop and think.
I thought so too, but nobody seemed to care in my cong. It seemed I was the only one who noticed. When will all this misery end?

How weird is this????
by worldly girl ini've been busy lately, so i've not been able to post... but i had to share this with you all and get your imput.....
ok so yesterday i was getting my nails done(yes i'm one of those girls!!
) and my cell phone rings, it's one of my ex jw friends lisa... she's calling to see if i'll go to a "chip n dales" show with her in a couple of weeks.

Not neccessarily........I know a lot of hypocritical dub girls who dress pretty slutty, and then act all pompous about how other people behave and dress.

Prayers in Restaurants....
by caspian inon bank holiday monday just gone, a dear kind older couple in the cong decided to take me and my good lady out for a slap up meal, to try to cheer us up after the recent upheaval in our life.
somehow i ended up with the bill.. anyway, this was the local italian trattoria were we often go, and are on first names terms with the staff and quite a few of the other regulars.
big mistake!!.

This will cheer you up. I went out to dinner with a group of the "friends" and my father in law (elder) got up and gave a looooooong ass prayer, going something like...."We thank you Jehovah God our Heavenly Creator, our Grand Instructor, our Superlative Exemplar, etc, etc,". He also made a point of mentioning his gratefulness to the FDS etc, and people around were looking at us all like we were a bunch of religious freaks, which I am not, but I could understand the other patrons' bewilderment. I feel your pain.

i did, with a ms who said we had to keep our relationship on the down low 'cause he was being considered for the big e and he didn't want the brothers and the c.o to quesiton his personal life, now that's code for 'i don't want the elders to know i'm making out on non-meeting nights!

Non-believers......... Do they "bash" Believers too hard?
by gumby ini have been beginning to wonder if those that have come to disbelieve in the bible as god's word, and those who believe in no god at all............use the wrong verbage here.
is it disrespectful to those who believe.... for non-believers to say things against what believers hold so precious?
many have moved on, or..... mentioned they do not post their true feeling here on certain subjects for fear they will be harrassed by others here.. first off....i'll admit i'm a guilty one for doing this very thing but have been wondering if i'm out of line as well as others who post similar ideas in the same type of manner.

As a YOUNG loyal JW, did you think you would see you're 60th birthday ?
by run dont walk inwith all the talk in the organization about the end being so close, and we have all heard this story over and over again for years, as a young/loyal jw, did you think you would see your 60th birthday.. if we were to walk into the kingdom hall today and poll all the jw's under 30, and ask them "will you see your 60th birthday", what kind of response would you get ???.
armageddon is not coming, the year 2014 will pass, as will 2025, 2075, 2100, and even 3000. .
would love to hear experiences from some of the older ones on this board, who probaly thought the same thing when they were young.
