Try praying this way- "If there is really a God that exists, that really cares about me, please reveal yourself to me"
Maybe you'll receive some "proof" that there is indeed a God that does care about you.
It worked for me.
The funny thing is that I believe in a God that actually will not penalize you for NOT believing.
The sun shines equally on everyone as does God's love and forgiveness. IMO.

I don't agree that they ease you into the faithful slave crap.
In EVERY meeting; during the prayer, the talks (even public), they always talk about the "slave" and how they are God's chosen ones etc.
A person who actually goes to the hall for the first time will get hit right away with the fact that the "special ones" of the Governing Body are God's spokesmen.
No wonder not many come back for a second trip. Unless they are real slow kind of folks. Like literally half retarded or mentally disabled. And I'm not even trying to be funny. Just look at the hapless weirdlings that are introduced as "studies". You hardly ever see anyone that might be considered normal.
i have a jw friend that i still talk to once a week or so on the phone, just about nothing mostly....day to day life...she knows i dont go to meetings "right now" (lol)... she has no real idea how far gone i am..... .
her father is an elder in her congo.... she lives next door to her folks.
so i made sure to plant the bug in her ear about the "announcement" and exactly what it was.... of course she told her mother who told her elder husband....since elder husband is not po, he had no clue..... until everyone else heard the letter read.... here is the text of the email i received from my friend:.
I bet they are pxxxed off that every time the Washtowel has a "special announcement", it ends up on an apostate web site before anyone in the congregation is supposed to know about it.
That truly is VERY FUNNY that that is the case. Hahahaha.
And the funnier thing is there is not a damn thing they can do about it. hahahahahahahhaha

They WILL re-invent themselves and EVERYBODY will buy into WHATEVER the WTS says, and they will pass it on the tradition of watchtower worship to their succeeding generations ad infinitum.

I think disfellowshipping will go next, but I know that the wts will continue to thrive and flourish.
They are merely getting smarter; more mainstream. They will actually GROW because of the changes they are making. More appealing to the masses and therefore more growth.
More Kingdom Halls, etc. I think the Df'ing will end soon and be even MORE attractive to potential converts. And it will bring in a ton of "new ones" who were old ones who now can come back and keep the Halls packed.
They're not 'ending' anything. They are getting SMARTER and have no intention of folding up their tents. It doesn't make any sense that they would do that. It makes more sense they are actually just going to adjust things and get even bigger and bigger,

You all know as well as I do that the WTS is not "crumbling" or dying or fading out or anything of the sort.
Let's be real. I know most of you desperately want to see it all go down, but you all know in your heart of hearts, that the WTS will continue with it's basic teachings, service, assemblies, talks,etc. etc. for as long as we all are alive.
There is absolutely no imminent demise of the tower. If anything, it's going to get stronger and keep adding members and keep changing beliefs that everybody will accept.
I don't like being a buzzkill, but this is the reality.
Any talk of the WTS going "down" in the next 50 years is wishful thinking.
It used to be fun to speculate about the towers demise, but I've come to realize that they are way too strong and influential to EVER go down for the count.
The only reason they are changing the book study is because of the reasons they have stated.
Nobody important is losing the faith in Bethel.
The society will adjust and continue to thrive for as long as we all live.
There is no such thing as a Watchtower "end game".

You know I'm not trying to be funny but this actually made me cry. I feel so very sad, or perhaps it's pity, that they hold on so dearly and with all of their might to this fantasy, wishing for those days. They live in hope of a future that will never be and thus they don't live their best lives now.

THANK YOU!!! That is exactly how I felt about this paradise story, and all the ridiculous paradisaic fantasies the old guard witnesses cling too. I care a lot about many people who believe this stuff. I really feel terrible for all of them. It truly is heart wrenching to look at these folks and imagine the utter pain and devastation they would/will feel if/when they finally figure out their whole lives were basically wasted. You know, you could make a case that these JW leaders are truly evil, for the way they ruin peoples lives, and doing it all in the name of God??? Isn't that like the unforgivable sin?
