I wonder if you invited the rest of the people in the car up to the door that it could be considered a circuit assembly?

forgive me if this has been covered before and please redirect me to the topic.... i was looking over the km scan for january 2003 at http://jsefton.users1.50megs.com/kmscans.htm and noticed this on page 4:an approach that has proved to be effective with busy people is to conduct a brief bible study right on their doorstep.
when you are preparing to make a return visit, select from the january 2002 our kingdom ministry insert a presentation that fits the householder.
many of the presentations in this insert are designed to lead directly into a discussion of the require brochure or the knowledge book.
I wonder if you invited the rest of the people in the car up to the door that it could be considered a circuit assembly?

does any one remember this one?
as we live in the "great white north" the weather does not always co-operate with us and sometimes we would have to go outdoors for field service in the winter months.
so i remember my father giving the congregation some tips when the householder would open the door!
I always had several RV's that I knew were never home on the weekends. You get a couple of those on each end of the territory and you've eaten up a lot of time.

i was always amazed by the certain elders that really got into giving heavy counsel, while, they themselves, needed to take their own advice.you know, the elder that always picked on the families that weren't perfect, and was the first to volunteer to give the local needs talk on how to bring up your kids.
meanwhile, the elder's own children were smoking and dating "unbelievers".
and i always smirked when the theocratic ministry school overseer gave tough counsel on timing and the use of word-whiskers and pronunciation, while always violating his own criticisms............what drove you crazy??
I always find it interesting how they are programmed to say certain things but typically are not listening.
You can be pointing out a matter of doctrine, interpretation or something in the news yet they will just nod their heads and read a scripture. You never really get answers to the question or issue. You know what you are going to hear no matter what you say.

this won't stop all of them, but it will slow them down.. .
gary north's reality check .
issue 118 february 20, 2002 .
I generally don't mind telemarketers. Annoying at times, but they can be amusing.
What I often do, is let them talk and talk and talk. I don't say anything just "uh huh" alot. And I breathe deeply.
When they are done and expecting a "yes or no" I tell them to keep talking because I'm masturbating. My wife shakes her head and tells me I'm crazy but it is fun to hear their response. It's sort of a sport to see how long you can keep THEM on the line, asking them to keep talking.
It just feels so great to have THEM hang up on you.

it seems that the latest directive from his at the branch office is the following.. .
hlc members are not to direct jw parents to refuse blood for their children any more.. in the past uk doctors could easily get a court order to force jw children to have a blood transfusion.
but the parents always had to refuse completely so that court action almost always took place.
It will probably soon just come down to an "Amplification" of the Blood issue in which the R&F will be blamed for not having a balanced conscience. That way, we are susposed to blame ourselves for having such a narrow viewpoint over the years.
We simply tell the doctor that we do not want blood but if it's needed then it is their responsibility for administering it, not ours. That way, everyone can "save face" and still not appear to be doing a complete 180 turn-around on the issue.

is it just my distorted, critical reasoning and viewpoint on matters or has anyone here (i'm still new here) ever commented about why things appear so complex and complicated?
i mean is it possible that a lot of the things we read in the bible should be taken at face value?
of course there is a lot of symbolism in the bible.

Of course there is a lot of symbolism in the Bible. In Revelation for example, John was given a vision, obviously symbolic. Daniel had dreams. Fine.
But there are so many things that it seems we over-analyze and complicate.
For example, Jesus often taught using illustrations. They include things like showing love, being "on the watch," not putting all of your trust in material things, etc. Fine. Leave it at that.
Why do we seem to take a simple parable or illustration and come up with all sorts of convoluted (IMHO) meanings, and double meanings and this pictures this or that, and this is anti-typical of this or that .... and anyway, in the end, everything seems to end up picturing Chistendom or the Anointed. ?
I mean, did everyone in the Bible have to picture someone else ? Is it possible that unless otherwise specified, that the person is actually just that person and we can learn from what THAT PERSON did, either good or bad ??? Why is everything the Greater this or Greater that, the Jeremiah class, Greater Whoever ...
We have been taught that the Bible was written for the "common person" to understand, not just the scholarly. When I see "common" people with something like the Isaiah book, I mean, come on now! And then later we learn that what we thought it meant last week has changed, and it really doesn't mean that any more and on and on.
Sorry I'm rambling this time but maybe, just maybe, unless otherwise stated, things are a lot simpler and easier to understand than we are led to believe.

i'm learning all sorts of fascinating things here.
recently i've noticed a lot of people making reference to four-door cars as being the only ones approved by jws.
is this for real?
The issue simply involves where you live. In the country, it is definitely an unwritten rule to go with a 4 door since it makes getting in and out more easy. You would typically go in a 4 door car since it obviously is easier to get in and out of in rural territory.
I've been in several congregations in urban areas where we either used public transportation or more commonly drove to the territory and then walked the entire time. In those cases, there was never an issue about the kind of car or number of doors.
Personally, I hated getting in and out of the back seat of a two door car all morning.

when going door to door, does the organization rather recruit males than females?edited by - jh on 29 january 2003 6:41:29.
Please note I stand corrected on the previous post:
It was brought to my attention, that the current value of a fine sister is 8 sheep and 10 turtle doves. The he-goat offer expired at the end of December.
Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.

" book, 1988, page 127:.
Isn't that the same method that we have condemned Christendom for using regarding the Hellfire doctrine ???
Haven't we always condemned Christendom for using pictures and images of Hell to "scare" their believers back into church and to "scare" others from leaving.
Aren't we guilt of doing the same thing?
