i knew of several women who would preach at the local correctional facility.
some would do the fall in love and get married to a new convert who had a long prison sentence.
if the witnesses had half a brain they would stop this before it ever got started.

we have been in a battle over health care for so long here in the us regarding public, private, gov't subsidized, obama care, medicare for all, and just about every permutation of the above.. we hear the horror stories here that people wait 20 years for a check-up (ok, bit of an exaggeration), but you get the point.
one side tells us that canadians flock across the border when they are sick and need to see a doctor.
the other side says that is simply not the case.. so tell us, if you live under one of the government systems would you replace it?
People who get a stupid-sticker always go to the back of the line
Simon ...
That is funny. Some with the stupid sticker would not be smart enough to know they had the sticker!
We would need a ton of those stickers here in the US for people with no health insurance who line up in the public hospital emergency rooms when their kid sneezes or coughs. Then we (taxpayers) end up paying the $500 or so emergency room visit.

Finkelstein ...
If you still have time to correct, you obviously got your numbers wrong for health care premiums for a family of two in BC ...
$28,000 - 30,000 for $35/month ?????????
$34,000 - 36,000 for $56/month ?????????
Over $42,000 for $75/month ?????????
Obviously, you were quoting the rates for cab fare or parking.

Our Medicare has worked very well for my wife and I here in the USA since we received it when we turned 65..... we are now in our 70's. We paid into it for some 50 years and I still pay for it.
Giordano ...
Very interesting post and insightful.
I just want to make people from other places aware that the "We paid into it for some 50 years" could be misleading to some.
Here in the US, your payroll taxes, medicare taxes and others are not going into some lock boxes with our name on the account like we would do at a bank. All the money ends up in the general fund. We do get some more back, in the case of payroll taxes and Social Security, based on what we have paid in. But in the end, once we pee into the pool, the pee is gone.
But you gave a very interesting perspective on your move to Medicare and the related issues.
Thank you.

So tell us, if you live under one of the government systems would you replace it? Would you be willing to go the private route and pay for it yourself ($500, 1000, 1500 / month)? Obviously if you have a company health plan at your job, you are indirectly paying for it anyway since it is money that you otherwise would be taking home.
Or is the assumed safety net of government-sponsored health insurance a more palatable choice?
I really am not trying to inject politics into this (but I smell it coming) but just looking for actual, real-life comments, thoughts and experiences.

the organization stresses to elders to be careful with members of the opposite sex.
never be alone with a sister whether it be in field service or paying a visit by means of a shepherding call.
do you know of any elders that flirted or were overly “touchy” with females?
There was a CO here that had active hands. If you payed attention, you would see that he went from one sister to the next with roaming hands.

The most subversive thing a JW might do is pull a cart up in front of a government building, sit there for two hours while texting to friends, count the time, talk to no one, and then go home.

the wtbts is not being given special room rates by 2 major hotels at the long beach convention center area for the upcoming 2020 regional conventions & wt is t'd off.
letters are being read in surrounding circuits and congregations.
apparently wt is afraid that other hotels are going to blackball them as well.. has anyone else heard this?
I would bet that the problem has to do more with the big booking companies (Expedia, Travelocity, etc.) than with the JW's in general.
Hotels will prioritize the big companies over the JW's at any time since the JW's are still a small player in the big scheme of things. And there is only so much you can squeeze out of a hotel. Plus they are not getting the big bucks from the bar or restaurants they may have compared to vacationers or business clients.
And let's face it, many JW's are not that stupid when they log into a travel site and see the rooms at a lower price than what they would pay based on the "recommended" hotels. You can get tired of the BS about how you are getting a better price through the Society. Just check the rates!
It's just a matter of time until the hotel stuff comes to an end.

No. Especially now that more and more JW's are doing cart witnessing and not waking up government officials trying to sleep on the weekends.
