Could you do without a computer at home?
by JH in.
10 years ago, just about no one had a computer at home, but today just about everyone has.
how would it affect you, if your computer broke down, or didn't have any?

Apostate?
by Gig ini know the wts calls anyone who leaves an apostate.
but can that label be pinned on someone who has never been a jw?
i also know the wts can do pretty much anything they want, but according to their "official policy" can i be considered an apostate after only having studied with them for a time -never baptised into the org - but found their teachings to be less than the truth and said so?

Well...I wouldn't consider you an apostate. I really think that JW's will think you should study more and get an accurate knowledge, so to speak. Calling you an Apostate, if you only studied is really stretching in.
In my local area I have known people to study for awhile than stop studying, go to the local church and then study again. No one has ever labeled those people apostate.
Are people shunning you because you stopped studying or stopped going to the Kingdom Hall?

Raising children in this world
by JH in.
for those with kids growing up, do you worry about their future, in this upset world we live in?.
do you really think they will have a stable and happy life?
-
happysistah
JH,
I do think our kids will be able to find happines in this world. But, I do think that it will be different from the world that we live in today. I really believe that after 9-11 we will always be in fear of terriorst attacks. I think that will be something that our children will have to learn to deal with.
I think that if we teach our children good morals and values they will be fine. I also think that they must pursue secular education so that they will be financially fit.

What Do You Think About "Jehovah's" Organization?
by minimus inas witnesses, you are constantly bombarded with the expression,"jehovah's organization".... if we don't believe in jehovah's organization, we are doomed.
we must put faith in jehovah's organization.
jehovah's organization is the modern day "ark of survival"........these types of expressions have been drilled in the heads of jehovah's witnesses for decades.

I think "Jehovah's Organization" is a very well ran multi-million dollar publishing company.

Some Witneeses said Michael Jackson was the Messiah?
by Joker10 indoes anybody know how much of this story is true?

I never heard that before. I would think that Jehovah Witnesses would think he was the Anti-Christ.

The UN and armageddon
by mattnoel ini need some reassurance here !.
i spoke to my aunt the other day who has been out of the borg for about 20 years now.
she told me that she is really worried about world events and feels that this is it now, the un is going to crumble and then armageddon is going to come.
-

Don't Worry! Armageddon is not comig--We are just going to have another War. I don't think there is anything Biblical about it. History is just unfolding before us, and sometimes we tend to read more into it than it really is.
And,anyway I thought the Armageddon thing was suppose to come like a theif in the night?

A WHO'S WHO list of Atheists
by JT inhttp://www.celebatheists.com/
it has often been noted that many who leave wt often move from believers in a god to agnostic or atheist.. while the reasons often vary, they do share a common path- after leaving wt they kept on asking more questions - smile.
now i see why my grandma used to say: "baby, don't question the "lard"

That is a very interesting list.
I think I fall in to the " THE AMBIGUOUS"
apparently skeptical of theism or religion -- need more infoThat's me!

Do You Like To Gamble?
by minimus inone of the sins that a jehovah's witness can get disfellowshipped for is gambling.
those that occasionally gamble, even for pennies, are considered "greedy ones".
of course, playing the stock market or futures is not considered gambling these are "investments".personally, i enjoy a little gambling.

Yes, I do like to Gamble. When I go to Las Vegas I always gamble a little. And I always win alittle.
I have so much fun playing those slot machines.

Reading the Awake is EQUAL TO A 4 YR COLLEGE DEGREE--
by JT inbelow is the basic view of jw towards education and in 30yrs theirs views really have not changed much- a tweak here and a tweak there, but after all is said and done you can still get a 4 yr degree from reading the awake smile
1969 "in view of the short time left, a decision to pursue a career in this system of things is not only unwise but extremely dangerous .. many young brothers and sisters were offered scholarship or employment that promised fine pay.
however, they turned them down and put spiritual interests first.

Hi JT,
Yeah more BS by the Watchtower. No one acknowledges that. Unfortunately, many of us who grew up in the truth bought into that line of thinking. Especially in the 70's and 80's. So instead of going off to college we chose to go off into the field ministry or to Bethel.
I ended up going back to school in my mid 30's to get a bachelor's in business. Once I completed my bachelors-- I received a promotion within 6 months.
Do you think if I read the Awake magazine for another 2 years, I could get a Masters in BS
