Resurrection of Sodoma

i am going to be sharing with a jw and i want to bring up the doctrine of the resurrection of the people of sodoma.

i have heard that the watchtower has contradicted itself by changing this doctrine several times, and in one of the books they say that the "new light" can never contradict the past doctrine, but only build on it i think.

well, post whatever information you guys have on this topic.

i was talking with a jw friend and he said that they believed they would live here on earth forever.

he told me a verse in psalms were it says "...the meek will inherit the earth.

" for those who believe in heaven, what does this verse mean?

Lol, Gumby. Anyways, somewhere in the thread I read someone questioned "where is heaven?". According to my theory, it is outside of the universe where time nor space exist. That's right guys, i'm going to be a true Bible scholar. - CA

ellderwho: I told this person some time ago about the whole worshipping Christ thing and he said that it was a different type of worship. I'll make a post about this maybe later on...

mizpah: I don't really know what to say to the restoration of earth with humans living here, I haven't studied the Bible much. I have a lot of catching up to do.

what are your thoughts.. if god forewarned cain to change his path he must have known abel was in danger...why did he not warn abel?.

when jesus told his apostles to go into jeruselam and bring back an ass and its colt which would be tied up near the gate did he foreknow this or was his faith so strong that he knew according to the scriptures this would take place and god would make this happen as written.

the same for the fish with the coin in its mouth did he foreknow this or was it his faith in god that let him know that anything he asked would be accomplished.. what i'm getting at is...if for thousands of years the issue of gods right to rule has been played out on the earth how is it a real test if god decides to now and then manouver particular events to a phrophesied outcome.

God's thoughts and way of thinking is infinitely higher in level than ours. Maybe what we call reasonable, for Him its unreasonable, or what we call logical for Him it is illogical. Lol, ok, forget about what I said.

What is our eternal purpose? I believe it's worshipping God forever (I think I read that somewhere), unlike the JWs who think they will live here in Earth and everything will be perfect, and they will be able to marry and their neighbors will be good people. I dont think in heaven we are going to marry or something, anyways, what is our eternal purpose? Worship Him forever or live a life in happiness?

Does The WTS Have The Right To Interpret The Bible For Mankind?

if the apostles, who were closest to jesus and chosen by him, never wrote their own interpretation of the old testament, why does the wts feel they can interpret the entire bible and still get it wrong so often?

if in fact, there was a governing body for christians back in the 1st century, why didn't they go about interpreting daniel's prophecies the way the current gb does today?

if the 1st century christians were god's chosen people, why didn't they go from door to door placing scrolls filled with bible interpretations?

God's prophets nowadays are the ones that teach what God has revealed to them through the Bible. The Bible is a revelation.

Trinitarians, Did Jesus reveal himself as God?

i'm a person that believes in the trinity, but i have a question.

i know jesus didn't reveal to all the people to whom he preached as god himself, and it was not something that he directly taught (or at least i think he didn't), but i know from what i've read that the disciples knew and taught it.

my question is, did jesus tell them, or did they have this revealed when they were anointed by the holy spirit?

Did God Create Dinosaurs Or UFOs?

i remember at a district convention in yankee stadium back in the 80's where the district overseer mentioned the possibility of one day being able to share the universe "with other creations of jehovah" as he put it.

it definitely got everyone's attention because he even went so far as to say that perhaps ufos are a creation of jehovah, but we haven't been told of their purpose.

when i heard that i nearly choked on my jw-hoagie.

In my opinion, I dont think we are the only creation of Jehovah. Why would he need to tell us about other creations? He probably just told us what we needed to know. Like Mr. Kim said, God does whatever he wants. - CA
